This feels like something you'd see in a f2p game.. I don't like this, just based off that feeling alone. That + wasn't that earring exclusive to people who pre-ordered Shaodwbriners? This.. Does not make me happy in the slightest.

For people who feel like this, why?
Do you really look around town at people's earrings and decide, "wow, they preordered an expansion that released years ago, just like me!" Or do you walk around like "Look at my earring! I preordered!"
I guess I just don't understand the mentality. I played other games where pre-order bonuses were released eventually and never really cared.
Its an MMO. People like having rare/old/exclusive items. Hence, why so many people do Ultimate & show off the weapons/titles, farm the Deep Dungeon solo titles, etc.
I'm more impressed with people who can clear current end-game content or have an achievement than someone who just decided to buy an expansion early. Not really the same thing to me at all.
Even those lose their value as the content gets outdated and then "anyone" can do it unrestricted.
Regardless of how "easy" it is to earn aetheryte tickets, it's still work, and personally I can't be bothered. This would be a mild bonus, no excitement but nothing to complain about either.
Really, it's a thing that will be mostly beneficial for the early-game players and alts who don't have other ways of earning tickets yet and are at a point where teleporting is still relatively expensive for what funds they have.
1. Ultimates cannot be entered with an undersized party (unrestricted) party like you stated.
2. Deep dungeons must be entered in an undersized party to begin with to solo.. That's the entire point.
3. Both force level & ilvl down syncs, so not just "anyone" can do them, the Deep Dungeons solo especially.
I'm not sure you even know what you're talking about. That aside, I can half agree that the pre-order earring being tied to money makes it not as important as Ultimate/Deep dungeon titles.
Why are you being so aggressive? I just meant some other things people show off in town from content you can unrestrict.
Anyway I know how much pre-ordering meant to you, and that you really felt special having the item sometimes on a glam, sometimes in your inventory no one can even see. I hope you recover from the slight of others having it now.

I meant no offense, its text, you read it how you'd like to read it. I do apologize if I came off a bit callous, however.
I hate to be the one to tell you this then. But new players, or players who were not around during those expansions, can get those titles, weapons, etc too. They are not exclusive by any means. It's not like legacy items that were meant to be a special thank you from SE for sticking with them in the darkest of times. It's a preorder bonus from like 5 years ago. It is no different than old event items they have on the mog station, at a discounted rate for right now. Of course this same arguement was used then too and you all got over it pretty quick.
This is just such a silly thing to gatekeep.
This is kind of nasty. Like treading as close as they can to freemium mobile/korean MMO territory.
Then again extra retainers is already into the freemium territory. Repeat "GiL iS UsElEsS iN ThIs GAmE" as much as you want, but the fact is players are allowed to pay up to an extra 19 dollars (including their crappy companion app) to have 8 additional chances to get extra gil, crafting material and rare items without farming anything yourself/just logging in to check a menu. How much you care for that advantage is irrelevant. It is an advantage nonetheless.
We are getting these earrings with every new expansion preorder bonuses.. I mean, yeah I would understand getting angry if you were getting the Feast ranker titles or legacy tattoo, but it's just the endwalker preorder earrings from like 2021, nothing too serious here.
For the price of one fantasia, you get an objectively better package. It's surprising they didn't do it earlier really. I wish it was a bit cheaper than that, but atleast it's not more expensive than base price.
I stopped believing on exclusivity in this game when the "exclusive" FanFest 2016 items were made available for purchase on the mogstation. There is a tiny disclaimer now that states "Exclusive items might be re-released" or something to that effect.
As for selling items on a subscription-based game, it was the players who requested a cash shop so they could support this game. And people keep buying so just do what I do and don't but stuff from there, or roll with the masses.
You will be able to use the pre-order bonus item for 3+ years before being in the shop. You now have exclusivity for the entire expansion.
During those 3 years, the XP bonus will be more relevant- unless you cap every job each expansion. Now that we have earrings that cover level 90, buying an earring that only goes to 80 is pointless when it comes to actually wearing the earring.
You will not have to pay $10 for it.
Personally, I find the whole concept of exclusivity really nonsensical. How exactly does other people owning something diminish your enjoyment of it?
That being said, the earrings come with the preorder, you don't even have to pay extra. If you know you'll be buying an expansion anyway, there is little reason not to preorder and get the extra stuff, even though half the rewards are minions nobody will ever use.
Can they do this with the matoya hat next?
Or, no, you know what? Better yet. Put this stuff in the game for people to actually earn.
edit: LOL'd hard reading this thread. Why is this the wakeup call for so many people? They've been selling level skips, story skips, retainer skips, extra retainers, character customization changes, old event items that they refuse to return in future events, exclusive emotes, exclusive mounts with obvious ties to in game raids, exclusive furniture, alllllll in the cash shop this entire time and you guys have been like "tHiS iS fInE" but now they let some newbs wear your earring that no one even notices (seriously, earrings are barely visible in this game) and you guys are losing your minds. Bit late to the party, but glad you guys could finally join us I guess. lmao
"good for new players" lmao, it's a literal scam. it feels tailor made to target a new person's ignorance about how the game works. This was explained better by macchi on a previous page but yeah this is literally some black desert online tier scumbag-scam stuff.
IDK what is happening but lately FFXIV is losing so hard in every aspect, it is literally 9 bad 1 good wtf?
why is this happening?
It's seems like a decent bundle for new players, or people that missed out on some of the items like the pre-order earring
I'd consider it but all I would really get from it would be the fantasia and aetheryte tickets, which I have a decent stockpile of because I farm them via masked carnivale every week and I don't really fantasia all that often.
I do wonder if this will be a trend we'll see more of and if it'll be Azeyma's earring next
I pre-ordered the expansion, and honestly, the pre-order bonuses don’t matter much to me. We’re not obligated to receive anything extra, and let’s face it, the bonuses have always been just cosmetic items—a mount, some glam gear, and an experience earring that most players outlevel quickly. All of it is loot that is equal and equivalent to stuff we can already purchase from the Mog Station. I’m excited for the expansion because I plan to dive into the new content, not because I need a little extra incentive.
Those earrings? They’re over three years old at this point. I’ve had plenty of time to enjoy them, and I’m perfectly fine with others getting a shot at them. What really matters to me is early access; that’s the real draw. It means more than any glamour item ever could. I’m ready to jump in and experience everything the expansion has to offer.
You get to use the pre-order items when they're actually relevantly useful. Or in the case of mount/minion/earrings as a glamour, you just get to use them early, literal years before anyone else could use them. Moreover, the pre-order lets you play the expansion early, which is already a powerful enough motivator for most people if they were going to play anyway.
Menphina's earrings only go up to level 80, when there's already the Azemya earrings which go up to 90, instantly invalidating them. So unless you don't pre-order the next two expansions in a row and also don't plan to level up everything past 100 in the next 4~ years in order to capitalize on a "cheaper" set of earrings sold by a future supply kit that are stronger than Azeyma's, The inclusion of these earrings has basically zero relevancy to anyone who's not a newer player outside of some extremely odd "I swiped my card for these during a limited time window so now no one in the future should ever have the option" gatekeeping mindset.
The White Ravens were a far more egregious incident than this, this pack is an extreme nothing burger on the grand scheme.
"Why even pre-order!?!?" cries out people who ignore early access (the actual expansion launch) and the fact that they were going to buy the game regardless of the pre-order items.
Just wait till they find out SE sells the digital collector items...
How come these versions of the emotes and parasol are account-wide but buying them normally is character-based?
At this Point, why is SE selling those "old" Earrings? Why has that lazy Bunch not made some new ones? Another Design, another Name? Same for the All Saints Wake Glamour Reward. Was it so hard to create something new? How often did we had that design now as Glamour? Besides that this design is so male, not a single peace for females.
I am torn. On one hand, the earring is from a way earlier expansion, and really, I could not care less if this is sold on extra to help new players. Despite me disliking the existence of the cash shop a lot.
On the other, this is the same kinda starter pack we get in games with way worse monetization methods, which makes me a bit afraid of what may come next.
If I had to guess it's because it's the one that people liked the aesthetics of most and putting the lv90 one in there would make everyone who bought the pre-order mad (This does not apply if you had the Endwalker pre-order since there's now 20 levels where it doesn't apply, not 10)
I'll agree on the outfit, the female version of it looks far too masculine-cut.
Honestly my biggest issue is this totally negates a good past reward of the Bozjan Earring that had a 10% exp boost below level 80 ( but you had to be level 71 to equip it for some reason). I would have preferred to see that buffed with the level restriction removed and more things made like it as rewards over just outright selling a past pre-order reward on the mogstation.
While it's obviously targeted toward new players, the Fantasia does make the whole pack more interesting for older players and I wouldn't be surprise to see more of those in the future, compensating subs loss by adding more and more things in the shop seems to be the path they chose and i can see why : it's cheaper to sell a pack of existing item for 6 bucks than to go back to a more reasonable patch cycle and give more content to keep those subs running.
Well, I certainly would want a way to get +30% XP from levels 1 through 80 on a new character over the next 2+ years. Note that it stops working once you get to the Endwalker expansion ... the earring is not the same as the one you get with the Dawntrail expansion.
Account-wide sounds... nice? (◔_◔)
As serial alt maker.
If only the earrings were unique. Oh well, it seems like grab bag of old stuff.
I feel like as a fellow sufferer of F2P MMO it does remind me of their starter packs which usually contained like 1 useful items with tons of fillers. I mean, if you wanted to buy all account fanta anyway it's the only thing worth the money there so maybe?
I have the earring it's OK not really something that would convince me to spend money alone I don't pay a lot of attn to earrings which are often hidden depending if aura.
That's exactly what the problem with these "digital exclusive forever" things is. You can't sell them second-hand like physical collector items, so anyone entering the fandom after the small window of chance to get it – in a game potentially lasting for decades – will never have a chance to buy it, and people who leave the game have no way of passing on their collected items even if they wanted to, so those items are effectively deleted from the game. Cool items basically cease to exist.
This is my feeling too; it was awful when the Makai gear stopped being available because I felt bad wearing cool stuff that other people couldn't get.
