Worst Summer Event EVER

the last memorable seasonal event was that one where you play seneschal to that dead girl's spirit during little ladies' day back in stormblood. p sure they've just been cutting down on them ever since.

Yea its the worst this time, i checked the wiki for the last 10 years it was always a glam and 1x a mount, but now only a lazy ass emote which doesnt even look great? square starts to get lazy, and i dont care about the quest i only care for the reward, and the reward was like i said lazy as hell

I think part of the reason for that pattern is the volatile nature of seasonal content in FFXIV. I imagine the same team that handles all the other side quests for the big x.0 release also has to do the first half year of events during that crunch so them half-assing a couple of quests that are headed straight to the woodchipper after their three weeks of relevance is kind of understandable.

I wish they'd design more of their stuff with purpose. Noone's gonna use it outside the event anymore but if it was like a persistent emote, at least you could have used it to cool off some people while being afk (and then you could sell a reskin of the npc palm leaf fan emote for 8€ just by swapping the weapon model but I digress)

Like the /dote, /splash, /glowsticks were great additions, this one's just get and forget

I was kinda disappointed too, not by the event itself or the lack of possibility to get previous year reward, it's always like this.

But I feel like they usually put some effort in the rewards. A mount or a glam. Here it an emote. Seriously, content has systematically been disappointing one way or the other for the past 2 years (I'm not saying it's all bad, but that it's on a slow decline), and they still seem to cut corner here an there. Seriously, with the state SE is in, I don't understand why they act as if they wanted to slowly kill FFXIV, when it's the only thing doing as well as they expect in their freaking company. Use your freaking 2 dye feature to give us a glam, even if it is yet another swimsuit... at least it would feel like a reward. Here it feels like a "ho, right there is that, let's do it because we have to".

Imagine in a few years, instead of getting a glamour set we get a stack of 10 consumables that show the glam on your character for 20 sec and if you want it permanently you'll have to buy it in the mogstation :3

It used to have fairly involved quests with the power ranger guys, a crafting thing for fish and chips, the bomb king fate, and parkour courses set up on the beach. That whole extra island near costa del sol was even added to make more room for moonfire faire stuff.

now it's like a sub-2 minute talk to a couple guys quest
