The viera hat issue is pretty ridiculous

If you want to approach it realistically, you wear a helmet to protect your head, to prevent brain damage. I imagine it's still an issue for Viera. If their ears are poking through their brain is protected but if they get hit in the head with something it's likely their ears will get messed up, bad! It may just be one of those thing they accept as a possibility. That makes me think Viera should have some damaged ear options. You could fold them under somehow but then there is the question of how flexible they actually are. The droop ears option gives the impression that those first few inche may be less flexible. Then I suppose you could put them in some sort of rigid metallic sheath, like how some helmets are for Miqo'te, but much bigger.

Uhhhh yeah we do, it's a fantasy game. If plate mail armour with holes for ears is to unrealistic for you then you are playing the wrong game.

I really don't understand why there are people with push back on this. I guarantee if they played a race with limited options they'd actually understand. SE please just make them clip. It would be so much better than nothing at all. You have proven it's possible with some of the new gear in 7.0. Give 5 people three weeks to make it happen, modders can do it without having full access to the game and it's a bit of a joke at this point. Half baked races should not be a thing, I'd rather not have the race than have limited options for no good reason.

I agree that we need hats. I do not care if our ears clip. I want hats.

For those of you saying, "I don't like clipping!" Congratulations!!! Anyway, so don't wear a hat then! I would like to wear a hat, and your feelings do not matter to me at all.

Some players do not want others to enjoy what they already have. This also happend back during Heavensward, male avatars got copy pasta and often less outfits then female avatars and whenever we complained about it, those with female avatars would come to the thread and tell us that we should not complain. SE has thankfully changed its stance and now both genders get same amount of outfit and majority of the outfits can be worn by both genders.

So to my Viera and Hrothgar friends, don't stop complaining.

Reality doesn't matter to me. Lore doesn't matter to me. The WOL is a weirdo anomaly among whatever race they are. Viera should be able to wear ridiculous hats/helms, highlanders should be able to have eyebrows, etc.

I'm looking for a witchy hat that shows the ears and literally there's none, they all just hide it. This dev team truly makes choices, modders have more love for this game

Is there a list or a gallery of which hats work now? My Google-fu is weak this morning.

You couldn't even see that hat before now you can. I agree that ears should show for all if not most of them. I got so used to not even trying hats it's refreshing to have to check now to see if they in fact work.

Regarding the DQX hats; they finally gave Viera and Hrothgar the King Slime Crown, but Viera still can't use the Thug's Mug.

Though it replaces the whole head it has ear flaps for Miqo'te, Lalafell and Elezen. Maybe they intend to give Viera ear flaps too?

It's just another one of those sloppy fixes where half is fixed, half not, half is bandaid with hiding ears,etc. It's all to impress small bits of community.

The ear hiding is weird. There is an aiming hat from the nier raids I like a lot, it's a ronin samurai style hat. The top is flat. And they removed the ears from it. Makes zero sense. Whoever was in charge of these have zero imagination when it comes to viera. There are so many options. And they choose to treat the race like they have removable ears. They're not viera at that point. And even if you choose to remove the ears yourself the look, to me at least, will always be lacking.

I feel like you guys are complaining about the wrong stuff. You guys ask for Viera to have hats and you got em. You guys are too focused on playing dress up and complaining about something that isn't there.

Nah because we don't even have all of them, and why is it taking 4+ years to even get all the hats in the first place, Idk what crackhead at Creative Budget 3 was like "yeah, seems like a lot of effort, let's just not do it" but this trend of them doing start-up projects/systems and then trying to avoid ever finishing them is rather tiresome.

Don't get me wrong, I love they finally did this, but I genuinely wonder what exactly took them SO LONG to implement this.

The ears just clip through the items... no holes or any kind of ear-friendly adaptation like changing the position of the hat.

Where exactly is the lengthy/cost intensive work? Just manually checking every hat to see if there's not any kind of drastic clipping to exclude it from the list? (which seems to happen to the Neo Ishgardian top hat, one of my favorites, given it's not usable).

Yeah, there is no reason they couldn't have done that 6 years ago. People were literally begging for exactly that. All this waiting made people think actual work was being done.

but they have to be able to speak japanese. xD

they don't read the forum anyway since apparently Yoshi P said their team do no speak english.
To work at SE on FF XIV you gotta be a fluent japanese speaker.
