You're damn right if my luxury car which I've paid for at full price and been brand loyal to for years is suddenly delivered back from the shop with square wheels I'm gonna complain.

We pay to keep the lights on, it's our right to air our concerns, they're amazing devs but when something is a stinker, if not told, the stinkier it gets, Yoshida said this is going to be a test for future expansions and to see if it goes well or not, it clearly didn't go well and the forums and reddit are very telling of that.
Appreciation is given in the form of remaining subscribed, and criticism is so that the game can improve or to spark meaningful discourse.
The last time the biggest MMO on the planet stopped listening to their players, both the game and the players endured around a decade of mediocrity and popularity downfall. And of course that also meant less profits for the company. In fact, complaints are the reason why games havr a forum. If its just full of praises then the forum doesnt serve its purpose.
I'd rather complain now that when its already deep in the abyss like WoW was. This isnt a f2p game as well.
Appreciation is earned, thank you. And while I do appreciate their work, shoddy work is still shoddy - and if we don't like it? We give them feedback.
Video Games are a form of art, even if people don't realize it - and art does garner criticism more than most. Whether the artist's brushes are off, their style is far different or sloppy, or something else? That's entirely up to people to determine. The consumer also leaving reviews helps other consumers determine if the product is worth buying, after all, and that can either increase sales or decrease them.
even the countless threads about current content being harder than learning the ABCs have more value than whatever you're trying to say here.
Ah. People complaining about people complaining. A tale as old as time.
I'll complain as much as I like tah. The expansion as a whole (for things I care about) has been very good, the combat content is better than anything we got in ShB/EW.
But I will continue to complain about the butchering of Black Mage until the cows come home.
Oh man, I simply love people who want to tell others what they are allowed to complain about and what not.
Especially on a game forum, which is a place specifically to have discussions, criticize, give out suggestions to better the experience and voice complaints.
If you don't like it, there is a simple solution: don't come here and instead join one of the many overly positive echo chambers that are out there. I think you will feel more at home there. :)
I do believe this is one of those times when it’s important to be vocal about how the game fails the players. After 10 years the game needs to keep its old player base interested and its newer player base motivated to stick to the game.
I think DT should act as a good wake up call for the devs, who are not taking enough risks and are re-using the same formulas and concepts, and take the game’s success as granted.
If they actually listen to a lot of the well constructed criticism (which can be found elsewhere than on the forums), I think they have good chances to fix their strategy for the next expansion and come closer to reproducing SHB, EW, HW, at least when it comes to the MSQ.
Even the forum has well constructed feedback like that one thread about the writing.
It just tends to be buried by the same arguments going around because of insults and baiting.
Even this thread here is obvious bait intended to make fun of criticism and I‘m as guilty as the others for responding here.
Otherwise I agree with you especially with the wake up call.
There is a difference between complaining and giving feedback. Just saying ...
Constructive feedback is not complaining. People, including me, payed good money for this. We are entitled to expect a good product, for the money we spend. If people are not satisfied, they have every right to air their grievances. So maybe follow your own advice and stop complaining....just a thought.
How honourable of you to dismiss other people's feedback as "stuff that isn't that important"! Wow, the FFXIV community didn't use to be this toxic... what happened? Oh, right, the game's quality kept degrading, mainly because people like OP decided that they prefer paying for and eating s&%t from the Devs, masked as chocolate cake, rather than asking them to serve something better :) There is no in-game achievement for being a living NPC, to my knowledge...
No i paid for this shit. Why would I stop complaining? If i dont tell them what they did wrong they will not improve the game. KEEP COMPLAINING.
Don't complain about the game you pay monthly to play.
Stop complaining about people complaining about videogames!
It's a complaint. Made by people who love to complain about videogames.
No complaint is perfect and not all complaints are catered specifically for YOU.
Stop being so selfish and narcissistic. Try to enjoy life, videogames and the forum we have.
FFXIV are one of the best complaint boards out there. The mods do a great job ignoring plenty of troll threads and making sure the forums feel like any other corner of internet should.
Show some bloody appreciation for their hard work.
STOP COMPLAINING!
I complain about the game because I know they can do better, because they have done better.
I WANT Final Fantasy XIV to be the best MMORPG, but if people were to just blindly accepted DT, it could never be the best again as the game is going downhill in some aspects and others it's just maintaining it's course.
You had me at constructive feedback and lost me at entitled.
It's realistically impossible to cater to every single individual out there, at the end of the day it's still their vision and their game. It's fine not to agree with their vision and you are also free to pick a better product that fits your needs. Fair?
Tbh without complaints/feedback we'd be severely lacking in QOL stuff and even genders on some races, among other things.
At least the usual desired outcome from someone's complaints is for the game's improvement.
no i will not stop complaining that the triple A company that we pay for a product and then pay monthly for that product to become worse.
you are the problem. this is why companies once beloved turn to shit. cause there will always be fanboys that defend them no matter what they do
this expansion has been very lazy and uninspired and downright insulting at times. if you give the message that we're not ok with it they will have to step up their game.
if you 're just gonna bend over and take it theyre gonna keep being worse cause at the end of the day the CEO only cares about profit.
I love this game, ive played it on and off for a decade. i do not wish to see it turn to shit. its because i love it that I so fiercy criticise it.
angry fans that arent listened too turn into apathatic fans. and then they will leave.
theres no such thing as a 10/10 expansion.
specially with their garbage engine, terrible netcode and insultingly bad UI design.
open your friends list and ask yourself if that's 10/10
theres always room for improvement. as it should be.
I do believe that there is some complains are a bit too self centered but as a game tester I think criticism is needed for a game to evolve if its made in a constructive way
The thing is if ALOT, and I say ALOT of your PAYING PLAYERS, and not just EN players at that EVEN JP PLAYERS, are not happy with the product then I'd that yes, Something went wrong with the product. This is not just some stray comment disparaging the product, alot of it are constructive criticism too.
People that say "Oh if you dont like it then unsub" just in a different wording, literally don't contribute to the discussion at all because this is an MMO, and its PAYING PLAYERS ARE IT'S LIFE BLOOD. If ALOT of the paying players are not happy, then they will lose customer. I get what you're saying if its just some few dissatisfied player saying this but there are alot of people unhappy about the expac.
This is a product we pay for and it is not cheap. The expansion is 40 bucks plus a monthly subscription. You think the value proposition is there for the price? Elden Ring is 60 bucks. So no, by all means complain if something is bad. Square Enix is not entitled to your money. Personally, they had a lot of goodwill with me to the point that I pre-ordered the expansion. The lazy msq squandered that good will.
Shills be shilling.
That's absolutely fine. If enough players stop playing and there is no real growth anymore then, they will be compelled to make a meaningful change.
While everyone's voice matters and everyone is free to voice concerns and dissatisfaction, as long as those aren't measured in meaningful numbers, businesses will NEVER cater to a small majority. Not when other options are present on the market that could absorb those.
*shrugs* I think its a good thing to be able to openly discuss these sort of things. I know that there are things that I "complain" about and people disagree with me and that is ok. I think it is healthy to talk about it to either reach a conclusion or simply analyze a game we all love (well, maybe a strong word for some, but we all like this game at least).
The only times I would agree with you is when their becomes venom/personal attacks (I'm guilty of it also when emotions get high) during these discussions that aim to just derail the issue or attack someone.
This all being said, I do disagree that the game is polished but that is why I like it because it is filled with imperfections I get to have fun and laugh at with people. Well, that and it does look pretty but this world is one the players and devs built together :)
