I don't believe the trailer says anything about 'forward'. It says 'out of the reach of time'... Maybe we go to the past and try to prevent the Garleans from taking over as much as they did and stop Dalamud from ever even beginning to fall.

You know its a videogame, right? Paradoxes don't matter, because if you want to get all technical...well almost nothing else in this game could exist either.
It does say "fight to REFORGE the fate of Eorzea". Which makes it sound like it already had a fate but then we try to change it.
We're definitely not going back in time to stop Dalamud. We clearly don't stop it, it is the reason for the drastic map/terrain changes. I see it like this: We can stay in the present and die guaranteed or we can go do whatever Louisoix has planned and live to save Eorzea from the remaining Garlean forces.
It doesn't say that we are sent forward in time but for all intents and purposes we are no longer here when Dalamud hits and we reappear some point afterwards. Whether it's some kind of alternate dimension or purgatory or whatever, time passes without us being there.
ever since this game started i've always compared it to the ANIME/MANGA fairy tail. i don't know why, but this another reason why.
You realize that even if you are "frozen" in time or in some form of "stasis", if time continues to move forward from the point you were removed from it, upon your return you have traveled forward in time. It's not that difficult of a concept to comprehend.
Here is an example: you are Going tubing on a river with your friends. You have been drinking a lot and at some point you pass out while floating down the river on your inner tube. All of the events and conversations that happen while you are passed out still occur but you know nothing of them. When you wake up, you are further down stream, but it is as if no time has passed to you.
The river = time
Being drunk/passed out = whatever Louis does to us
Events & conversations = the Garlean invasion
Pretty simple.
hey finally he gets his lazy ass up and doesnt stand arround in Gridania all the time.
He probably could have taken care of all those primals himself. He felt a better use of his time would be hanging out by the pool.
I think he's been feeling guilty about his idleness. This must be some way of compensating for it.
I have to agree after closely watching the trailer multiple times that his shield is in fact regenerating. Being how and why, I don't argue because I have no idea why. But it is indeed coming back.
He's the TRUE hero here, not US.
Teleporting us, the last survivors not meant to survive the 7th umbral era, to the future.
Well, looking in the .DAT files, a Cavernous Maw can be found (TIEM TRAVEL!!) and I really do think they came from a different time, as Yshtola explained it once in "Shapeless Melody" that she and "Others" of the Circle Of Knowing got here by "Other means" (Not that anyone pays any attention to the story-line dialogue...) mainly Louisoix, which she continuously mentions is an archon with "Special" powers.
To be honest I don't think he is defending us, if that where the case the bubble he makes wouldn't have to be that big, I think there is something behind him that we are unable to see that he is protecting with his life. Personally I think the Primals are the ones that will us their powers to save us, It is well known that the Garleans are out to kill off the Primals because they have gotten in the way, and fear their power. Also I would not be surprised is Yoshi.P goes the Kefka rout and is using lesser primals to fuel their Magitek, since its stated in the lore that the Garleans have no aptitude for magic which begs the question, if they have no aptitude for magic how are they making magitek. This will lead to as a summoner you are freeing the lesser primals (Fenrir, Cait Sith Typhoon) and they in turn become your loyal companions. All I can say is that I am in anticipation with the sheer amount of possible story routs they can go not only for the biggest battle in FFXIV history but the bringing of the new classes.
The Rapture is coming!
Guys Louisoix was storing up powers so he could make a bigger poop in the end.
Also, the story of who the Archons are will be revealed soon...The 12 guardians of Eorzea are getting rings so hopefully we'll get that explanation to the side of things before FFXIV Lite comes to a close.
I think that he survives, he teleports himself forward to a different point In the future and we dont meet up with him again till later in the storyline! All we know for sure is Louisoix is a badass.
Because going back in time isnt possible. And shouldnt be in this specific world.
Mainly because that would be boring. I like what they're doing. Time travel into the future is actually possible.
Edit: I just want to know how the new races come into play from all this.
louisoix is the leader of the achorons as it was stated in either the quest dont kill the messenger or the previous quest. as well as thancard and the other npcs are anchorons under his lead.
i am confused as to why the primals would save us lol... we killed 3 of them which were the keys nael van darnus needed delt with in order to take control of dalamund... which doomed ezora.. where the primals live.. i dont know lol if i were any of the primals id be out to kill about now lol.

He didn't die.
Louisoix wore a fireproof vest before sending us back to the future.
OMG!!! So you know how XI is releasing Time Mage???? OMG!!! Louis ported himself from the future of FFXI to FFXIV to save us!!!! ONRY explanation!
and so what happens to our grand company leaders its been verified we have PVP and are going to be at massive war with the garlenians... how can the emperor still have such a vast army >.> are you sure all the archons are not gonna create barriers around the city states? don't forget eorzia is merely 1 continent in the damned world~
Actually, the narrator says "Yet the bravest of us were spared. Sent beyond the reach of time, where we remained... Until now".
That does not actually indicates being tossed into the future for me!
Actually what it looks like is "Dalamud's about to hit- You adventurers, go chill in the X-Zone for a while, we need you alive after it crashes".
It's not like he managed to throw people into the future, he just tossed them 'elsewhere' for a bit.
Lister, are you prepared to go into stasis and forfeit 18 months wages?
To people asking the question as to why he can't save everyone: It's probably cause he can only send people through time who have the power to use the echo. Since we can see passed events we can probably handle the rip through the space-time continuum.

By the way, kinda off topic, but does anyone know who the actor is that they used for Louisoix's face model? He looks really familiar.
Sorry, you are incorrect. He had formed the shield to protect everyone while Bahamut was flying around blowing stuff up, and prior to the attempt to reseal him.
After Bahamut shatters his shield for the first time, Louisoix tries to stand up as the shield reforms. It gets about halfway formed again before another wave from Bahamut blows it away and Louisoix is back down on one knee.
THEN the seal spell begins.
EDIT: Damnit, baited into a necropost. -.-
quote from Yoshi-P, sounds like we'll see Louisoix againQuote:
Thank you.
Apart Ruizowa I think you've come across in NPC, the day will come again to meet.
Of course, there is also provided a new encounter with the NPC, to enjoy
