You can be spoiled when you're just searching FF14 on Twitch because someone could be doing the final boss in the thumbnail. This is just not a foolproof way of getting the mount since you have to do it again and again until you hit 6 hours.
Chloe
Yes they really, really did not think this through properly. I hope Yoshi P apologizes because people have been waiting for 3 years for this story.
When you're opening a stream you could already spoil yourself even if you just saw the final boss for a second. This is totally not foolproof. I would ask my boyfriend to do it but he is also playing DT and neither of us want to be spoiled.
Chloe (and Adam)
Do you know how long the MSQ takes? It's like 100 hours. And some people want to also do roulettes to level up Viper and Pictomancer and that could take even more time. Some people also love crafting and will be leveling crafters as well. That's like 400 hours already and most players only play 4-5 hours a week.
Chloe
Then watch Zepla who said she is not streaming MSQ for the next two weeks? You can bookmark her channel now.
Idk about that.
There will be a lot of streamers that rush the story before early access even ends, and then they will likely focus on content until after the raid tier in 7.05, and then go back to watch the story after that point in time.
I dunno, just look for a streamer that specifically isn't going to spoil. Meoni specifically said they were avoiding MSQ for like a week.
Surely if this is that important to you, you could simply do the homework and find a streamer appropriate to your needs?
Other than that, pretty low effort bait.

45 seconds in, Meoni says "Going to be playing some non-spoilery Dawntrail related stuff..probably going to be leveling up Pictomancer and things like that, at least for the first few weeks. We will try not to do any MSQ or anything like that, at least on the stream."
Also, and this might be wildly shocking, people can just...not get the mount? It'll come back in the future someday.
Hi Chloe,
You raise valid concerns but are doing so in a bit too aggressive of manner. I recommend adopting a more diplomatic approach if you want your voice to be heard better
I and others have already mentioned it in here, but I'll do so again.
Muting the stream itself makes it so drop progression halts.
But having the stream sound on but muting the tab itself doesn't effect the drop progression.
I've done so for a long time but I tried it earlier today when I saw people in here say muting doesn't work just to be extra sure before posting.
Some also noted that FFXIV will require actively watching, or whatever that implies.
However I personally don't think that one stream on Twitch would work differently than another one in such a manner.
At least I've never encountered a stream with a drop that's worked differently, or not worked with a muted tab.
I don't even watch said tab, I usually do other stuff like watching Youtube or playing games.
So again, I am 99% sure that simply muting the tab will work for the FFXIV twitch drops as well.
Edit:
I wouldn't think that it'll work differently depending on browsers.
But thought I'd add that I'm using Firefox, just incase it might have some importance?
Since when can you not just have twitch in the background? I was getting overwatch drops like a couple of weeks ago with the tab up and muted on another screen. You have to actually claim the rewards now but ??? Does it work differently depending on the campaign or what?
yup, i'm just tossing mine up with the speakers off.
You got like 2 months to catch up and let the stream run in the background lol, stop stirring up random nonsense.
I'm starting to believe this is just FOMO or people really concerned about having the mount ASAP for flex points.
Otherwise, why not just play the expansion first and then go get it? I've yet to really see any make any valid points of why they wouldn't be able to finish MSQ within the month.
I.... what????? The MSQ itself will probably take MAYBE 40-60 hrs of active game play at the most and that is being generous. As someone who is Omni everything, adding in two classes with Gatherers and Crafters does not equal 400 hrs. The gatherers and crafters will likely maybe take 30 hrs of gameplay top if you just straight grind and don't use Custom Delivery turn ins and stuff. Viper and Pictomancer... maybe another 20-30 since they have to level from 80? So you are probably looking at less than 150 hrs of actual game time needed. Now, if you are right with the 4-5 hrs to play a week (which is ludicrous. I can all but guarantee the average player plays more than 5 hrs a week) we would have to hold off for 30 Weeks or 7 and a half months, by which point 7.1 will have already dropped. So those numbers are WAAAAAAAY beyond unrealistic and hyperbole.
I never said that I had a problem with it. I simply answered what I think it is people have a problem with.
If you look on earlier comments I've made I've even shared how people can have a stream muted and not showing and still be able to claim the rewards.
Personally I don't really care if I see spoilers or not.
ill probably have MSQ done by sat night at the latest lol
I really don't like Twitch drops. I hate them in fact. Putting a mount in there as well is especially nasty.
that said, it works, and I'll probably put a stream on 240p, minimize it and get the drops.
Aren't there streamers who aren't going to do story for a few days?
Just watch them, easy.
Not that there is much point replying to this thread, but... im bored.
Not a single streamer i follow/watch is going to do MSQ right away. Views are highest for MSQ streams, and people dont want to be spoiled. So by doing "something else" for a week or two they can still get them big eyeballs when they DO get to MSQ. Plenty of people will level up Picto/Viper first. Plenty of people will work on crafting, work on other classes. Hell, there are streamers who arent up to date yet. If any of THEM get the drops enabled flag youre golden. Or as several people have stated, just wait.
Non-issue.
Chloe, this is ultimately a you issue and you should hold yourself accountable for that. If you, for some reason, want to take over a month to watch cutscenes be my guest. Just don't expect the rest of the community/the devs to cater to you. If you miss the mount, oh well. You made the choice to have it take over a month to watch each cutscene. If you want the mount that badly that it's making you post this thread, then don't take a month to watch cutscenes. It's that simple. Kill the expansion over a weekend or a week since it's not going to take longer than 24-48 hours to complete. Personally though, I think even you are exaggerating the amount of time it'll take you to finish just to suit your point, but that's just me.
Should have enough time as Shadowbringers early access took me 2-3 days to finish story without skipping cutscene. And Endwalker early access also 2-3 days but on an NA alt. (queues like small during the mornings for me.)
How about you just...not watch the stream? Are you upset because you will be missing out on that little...fluffy ball mount?
