99% of the time we don’t kick people for actively griefing because half the alliance can’t tell standing in the far corner casting succor on yourself isn’t helping and the other half couldn’t care less because they are barely paying attention
Nobody is going to kick a sprout hoping for a max level player simply because depending on the tuning a max level BLM may do 20% more damage, hell you risk getting a max level person who still doesn’t use their rotation which puts you in an even worse spot anyway
I feel like people use this kind of attitude to try and feel superior to other people. Trying to prove that they are too good to be entertained by something so easy so they demean people who do enjoy it and try to convince people that they have all the right ideas of how to make it a real game that real gamers like them would enjoy.
the smoking hot gilgaroe is right
I remember when I got black mage to 80 back in ShB - I didn't know I had a big fire ability until someone spoke up going "do you not have fire 4?, use it."
I had been stuck in ARR content so much, that I didn't even notice we were in a stormblood dungeon & that more of my kit was available to me.
having to do lvl roulettes where your kit isn't fully available is definitely a drag and prevents people from partaking in roulettes as often
abilities just need to be unlocked entirely, not inaccessible bc of a level sync. Item level and damage should be synced, not your rotation.
SE makes enough money from this game, so they can afford to take the time to figure out how to balance all of that out.
That's why I hate automatically getting abilities as you level. Unless you are already familiar with the job, or have gaps in your displayed hotbars and a new ability fills in the gap, you aren't aware of everything available to you. I'd much rather be forced to take a trip to a trainer to learn an ability so I know that I need to mess with it and see how it works than to play for another 3 levels before I found out I had more abilities available to use.
I can remember when I learned relatives had started playing the game and I made a character to play with them. We'd have problems in a dungeon and I would say "use X ability to handle this situation". Their response: "what's that? I don't have it, it's not on my hotbars". I ended up spending a lot of time going over all their job actions one by one. They're better players now, but there are still a lot of players out there who are just like they used to be.
^i levelled all my jobs on PS4/5 before swapping to PC but oh cross hotbars when you get a new skill it automatically adds itself to your hotbar when you get the prompt you learned it, does MKB not do that
I have an idea. Tanks pull W2W, but make sure not to use CDs and pop your tank stance off once and a while. DPS make sure you greed and never move out of those AOEs and don't use personal heals or mitigation. Our healer friends need something to do. I think this will help improve our healer experience.
This has been my gripe since heavensward. Level sync should squish stats. Not actually scale you to level 15, if I'm not running one of the few end game dungeons/raids I only get to use my tool kit for random trash world spawns. How am I supposed to have a fluid rotation if my bar is changed so drastically from 50-cap. Then I join a roulette and I'm stuck with fire and fire 2.
Regardless of all this conflict around the issue. Many people have suggested to frontload more jobs and this is in general a good idea. Monk and Red Mage are basically done at 50 and feel decent to play, but so many others are insufferable.
The problem will only get worse next expansion as more abilities are removed and new ones replace them at later levels. To little butter over to much bread if you will.
Some examples of what I mean
-everyone has aoe by lv. 15
-black mage has fire iv and blizzard iv by 50
-white mage has all 3 lily abilities by 50
-warrior inner release by 50
-bard has all 3 songs by 50
Everyone needs an aoe betweet 15-20... its insane how late some jobs get em. Like sage has its aoe CD earlier then the actual spam aoe lol
It depends on what you already have on your hotbars.
I've met a lot of players who like to put things like mounts and emotes on hotbars 1 and 2 (I wince inside but their choice). If their hotbars are already full, the new abilities either have no where to go or go to a hidden hotbar if the player hasn't enabled display.
Which doesn't help when the player levels up mid-dungeon and doesn't have time to stop and review what the new actions and traits are, then forgets by the time the dungeon has ended.
edit to add that class/job actions in MMORPGs like FFXIV and WoW are far more numerous than in many other types of games with combat. Some games will limit players to 5-6 total. Other games may give players 15-20 choices but limit them to only have 3-4 selected for use at one time.
For someone coming from the latter type of games, they could easily think that they have everything when the first hotbar fills up. It's something that many have mentioned before but Hall of Novice really could use some additional scenarios but they shouldn't all be dumped on the player at level 15. Some should come later once all jobs have their AoEs, and yet another set as resources and spenders get introduced.
