Even if they haven't the feedback hurts noone existing. why you gotta be contrarian?

There are several unfortunate issues arising with the baked cloth sims in this game that have nothing to do with the lack of real time physics. Chief among them being cloaks and capes cutting into the floor during regular combat stances of several jobs, which is a result of cloth physics being simulated in a void rather than with a ground collider plane:

I have no idea why they thought that was a smart move, because characters mostly stand on the ground without a hole directly behind them.
I also want to raise the issue of capes generally looking pretty bad in this game due to shoddy cropping and bad alignments:

Add to that the general inability to combine most shields or greatswords with most actual armor due to insane clipping with shoulderplates (which with actual physics wouldn't be fixed, but instead break the WoL's back) - which along with Chakrams cutting into long (and therefore most) chestpieces in the game is an issue only Lalas, male Roes and male Hroths (who have a bunch of issues of their own) are close to immune to. Every other character model including male Midlander and catgirls are just not able to wear a significant amount of armor in this game without unneccessary amounts of clipping on jobs that should be made for wearing those types of armor. These and most clipping issues are not neccessarily physics issues and often can't be satisfyingly fixed with better physics. They are the result of careless design.
If/When they drop support for PS4 (most likely in 2-3 years come 8.0) they usually would allow people to migrate over to PS5 completely free of charge. Do not worry, they will NOT ever drop support for PS5, that I can promise you, the PS5 is still new and they will not drop support for it! Don't worry!
Great post!
Yeah. This issue really came to head for me when I started taking screenshots for a possible webcomic. No matter how I tried, some things would always look bad. It's held everything back because I don't want to put out a comic that'll look crappy to anyone who doesn't play FFXIV.
Oh my god yes, I friggin hate the nailed down capes so much!
The hair is being updated with everything else in the graphical update. I wouldn't expect a physics update to the level people here are asking for due to the technical requirements. The same people demanding realistic physics would be complaining their toaster melts every time they're in a populated area.
Side note, people should be careful what they wish for with the clipping complaints. WoW players did the same thing and made the problem substantially worse. Instead of dealing with a little shoulder pad clipping sometimes the shoulders look like shit all the time now because the devs "solved" the problem by making them hover ten feet off the character.
Yea, I can see that. People (using some friends of mine for example) complain the game is old and so are the graphics and get turned off investing in the game at this point which is so sad because I have been playing since 1.0 back in 2010 and it's such an incredible game with a long history, it just needs to be upgraded not just graphical wise but past that as well, physics, weather, dynamic skybox, ray-tracing options, etc.
Thanks for the reply! Absolutely, and please don't misinterpret me, these things I would love to see are more so upgrades, not super advanced. Yoshi always set that expectation with the community to not expect Horizon Forbidden West graphics, etc. but I do think improvements can and should be made, at least to an extent. Not just physics but improved weather(weather effects), maybe dynamic skybox(instead of 2-d clouds), would LOVE options for ray-tracing(OMFG imagine doing the dungeons and light can bounce around), as well as maybe utilizing the SSD capabilities in current gen consoles like breaking down barries zones finally?
People claim they want FFXIV to be around for along time while at the same time not wanting the devs to future-proof it. Ah yes those static 2D clouds the game uses in every zone are comical. Yanxia uses dynamic ones during windy weather; they should use those in every zone, but not just during windy conditions.
I totally get what you are saying about people not wanting the devs to future proof the game. I don't understand the mindset.
If a game wants to continue to draw in new subscribers then they have to put in the effort to have it look as good as the new stuff. I applaud what CBU3 has planned but more needs to be done than updating the textures shaders.
It doesn't need to be done all at once. Textures one patch, improved hair dynamics with realistic collision with the character model next, etc...
Exactly I feel the same way! I completely understand not alienating people on older PC's and who still play on PS4's, but by next expansion the upgrade needs to happen and PS4 support needs to be dropped. Whether that's saving up a little money every month for a $400 digital PS5 or saving every month for a couple hundred dollars for a new graphics card, by 8.0 which might come out the earliest in late 2026 the PS5/XSX will be 6 years old by then. If they drop PS4 support they can finally start utilizing the new minimum requirements and updating things like the skybox, physics, ray-tracing support, etc.
I'd honestly settle for character physics not breaking above 60fps.
