Now I’ve watched the trailer, the animation seems stiff and stilted.
It feels very low budget vs how good FFXIV’s animation typically is.

Don't get too crazy now
One thing for sure, the new jobs will always be slightly more flashier than the old jobs in lower levels.
With old jobs having more sharper black and white. and newer jobs being more colorful.
In either case.
Interesting how they styled the intro of the job trailer.
With The Cracked Glass I mean.
Like saying despite being Dual Swords, they are both Heavy and club like/large.
Almost like you need alot of STRenght/AGIlity to use or carry them.
(Jk, don't mind my terrible reference.)
Regardless though, it's definitely gonna draw alot of attention from certain crowds,
and honestly doesn't feel at all like a ninja the more you dig into its Stylistic intents.
But we are all allowed to make our own takes this early on.
Silence/Seriousness is one thing for sure that was taken.
Could almost Say if it was PvP, it leans more Bruiser/Brawler like a MNK, than the NIN feels some get.
But just my takes on the feel(since in PvP is where the True Class Fantasy Rests, within limits), Can only wait and see how it all feels once we get hands on with some PvE.
Withholding any kind of judgement on it till we actually see something with the job showcase in JP Fanfest. I am a bit disappointed we didn't get a corsair, but if it turns into a Thief kind of archetype I'll probably be ok with it, otherwise it will probably be a job I level for something to do and leave it there like Reaper was for me.
It feels like we're channeling the spirit of Zidane!
The showcase for Viper was underwhelming, imo. My immediate thought was that it felt like Reaper with a different paint job. It's a lot of slash slash slash and then go into power-up mode. Hopefully it has more unique abilities and an identity that just wasn't shown very well here.
I like the Twinblade portion, but I feel like a second dual wielding job could have been something other than 2 blades again.
That's just first impressions, and I'm sure they'll reveal more. I'll play it regardless.
Garbage, worse than even my lowest most lukewarm expectations.
Literally just reaper again and reaper was terrible in my opinion.
Curious why do the Devs hate final fantasy so much?
Reaper job action looks like this:
Waxing Slice > Infernal Slice > Waxing Slice > Infernal Slice > Unveiled Gibbet > Infernal Slice > Slice > Unveiled Gibbet > Gibbet > Enshroud > Void Reaping x3
By my count, that is 7 unique actions that were shown.
In contrast to Viper, I counted 8 unique actions. (Slice up, then down > Stabby stabby [x2] > Quick slices > Quick slices with down slash [x2] > Spinny spinny with the swords joined [x2]> 3 slashed with joined swords > blue aura activate > Phantom rush with swords).
Neither of them show of any sort of context in how they play, just what we could assume based on past experiences. Again, I don't see how you can call it looking incomplete when all we really have are animations.
I'm really disappointed by this reveal. They had a lot of other options. Another dual blade class for scouting gear... Lol, it's creatively bankrupt. The magic dps better be mind blowing or I think after eight years it might be time to cancel my sub. Possibly sad day.
It just seems like Ninja? I don't see the difference.
Mostly happy I'll have something else to play using scouting gear.
The job itself doesn't seem terribly unique to me and I'm dubious about any job that has a stance or power-up mechanic because it typically ends up being "push one or two buttons until the buff wears off".
Wish it was Corsair but Ill give it a chance. The Viper glam looks cool enough imo. Especially once we dye it
look nice, want to see how it will play.
It's kind of hard to tell by the 40 secs alone, they just showed a combo and a burst. I'm hoping they do go through FF9's and let get in trance or something. But it's really just hopium cuz I can also see them fitting it into the 2 min meta. That animation doesn't evel feel unique since I feel like I saw it in monk already...
I like dual wielding, and I like double sabers. The job looks cool enough, but it really seems like something is missing. Hopefully the trailer just didn't properly show off what the fun parts of the job are. There doesn't seem to be any... gimmick, mechanically. I will definitely try it out, but I'll keep my fingers crossed there's more to it.
My one serious complaint is that the AF gear design is just boring, like GNB before. The gear just looks like any generic leveling set, not nearly good enough for a class-defining aesthetic.
But I get the feeling the dev team has been playing other games lately

Very glad to finally have a scouting job that isn't Ninja.
To support this even further, remember GNB teaser, 1 2 3, 120s and Bolide.
Or RPR teaser, 1 2 3, gauge spender, enshroud, gcd under enshroud.
I feel like many are disliking the job just because it's not corsair.
I didn't come in having any specific ideas about the new job other than what we were directly told. This is exactly why I don't try to speculate about what things are going to be. You get the results you see here, everyone complaining that it's not what they already decided it was going to be. Extremely common thing in this game. Something new gets announced, all the details aren't revealed, everyone gets their own idea of what it's going to be, then gets angry when it isn't that. How about people just wait and see? It's not hard.
Twin swords is my kind of weapon though, I will certainly be trying out this job.
This exactly my sentiment. People don't like it because they wanted something else. It was similar to Dancer where people thought it was going to be a new healer but it turned out to be a DPS instead (which lead to the whole revealing what roles the new jobs will be).
The best thing to do is to always keep yourself at a neutral stance until the reveal as, if you get too hyped for something that hasn't been revealed, you are going to be disappointed.
I feel like it would have already been more interesting if the weapon premise was reversed.
If Viper had a Twinblade by default and then certain attacks split it into 2 smaller blades. Then again, I suppose a Scouting job should feel more light-weight so maybe that's why it is this way.
Yoshi-P stated that this job was in response to all of the requests for another dual-wielding job. Were there really that many people that wanted another double-blade job? People have been asking for Thief since the dawn of time, but I don't think that's what they meant lol.
I do hope they lean into the Twinblade aspect more, and hopefully the "ancient power" has some interesting interactions aside from just glowing blue and being stronger.
I honestly didn't really care about corsair in the slightest. Wasn't invested because I'm not a melee dps type of person. But this? Meh, still apathetic. Someone said the name while I was going after an S rank earlier and my initial reaction was "What the hell kind of name is viper?"
Here's my 2 cents, as someone who didn't care either way what the job would be: GNB, DNC, RPR, and even SGE (perhaps even SAM and RDM, didn't bother looking) had their reveal trailers shot from different, dynamic angles, and even in movement - even used some emotes for extra flare. By contrast, Viper (VPR?) "cameraman" felt quite stale, like he's just... standing there, hitting a glorified dummy rather than fighting something.
Maybe it's the thief job everyone wanted out of Rouge without being Rouge/Ninja. But in a way that makes the WoL not look villainous for being a thief.
I think its cool
its the closest we will get to a judge(ff12) job imo
Im happy i can potentially play the scouting role without NINs awful stance
The callback to Zidane, the animations, and the glam potential is keeping me interested.
Still, a bit disappointed that we didn't get Corsair. I guess they wanted to appease the fans who wanted Rogue to go down a different route from Ninja, one that's more in line with what Viper is.
When I see or hear "Viper", all I can think of is this great man:

This is the day we learn that the game is made for everyone, and not specifically for any one player. Corsair was never confirmed officially. People just really hyped themselves up for something that wasn't even mentioned.
As for the job trailer, do you guys really think a lv 100 Viper is only going to utilize 5 moves for it's entire rotation? Obviously, this is just more teasing.
I'm just gonna say it, I'm really disappointed it's not Corsair or some kind of pirate job. We're getting to the point where people were speculating we may only get one job per expansion, so I'm really not holding my breath on ever getting one now. The setting of Dawntrail, along with the outfit the WoL wore in the trailer perfectly lined up for it, so as it stands, Viper just took the wind out of my sails, pun fully intended.
Not a melee player anyways, but this looks underwhelming. Corsair could have been cool. Could have been a hexagun/sword with some pseudo gamblingesque abilities and element aspected bullets.
I do agree with comments about this being an option for people who liked the rogue class in 2.4 and didn’t like the direction the job moved in when it became ninja.
