You're missing my point. I'm saying that it COULD HAVE BEEN a survey about in-game mechanics or even ASK them alongside these questions and they haven't. In my eyes its a waste.

Not sure why my choice of minion is relevant, but if you (SE) really need to know about my wind-up Bahamut, then okay. I guess. Or something. I feel like this survey overall was a swing and a miss. It didn't really ask anything with any real substance or importance. That said, I voted for Gosetsu. I was never going to vouch for any of the Scions at this point.
Am so glad SE care more about my favorite minion than what I think about job design.
Which character I want to see more of? What about characters I want to see LESS of? You know, Graha, Alisaie and every single ancient shit, get them out of here.
I wanted to pick Azem but they weren't on the list.

So I see a lot of posts on here annoyed about the questions asked in the survey, so I went back and re-read the Lodestone post for the survey. It mentions this is a survey for the 10-year anniversary celebration. This sounds like to me, it's just meant to be a survey celebrating the joys and hardships of the last ten years rather than a feedback survey for the current state of the game. I imagine the featured character for example will probably be a story about them enjoying the in-game celebration and reflecting back on it, rather than some brand new untold story from their point of view. That said, I lowkey expect Emet, Y'stola, G'arha, or Zenos to win just from knowing how this community is.
Props to whoever came up with that last question because it was so asinine in it's wording that it just wiped my brain clean of any criticisms I had.
I didn't take it as a state of the game survey. I took it as a PR/marketing survey with the questions related more to who you are as a Warrior of Light than what you think as a player.
The questions asked leaving me feeling like they will affect that future "Tales" story, what minions/mounts get added to the game (or mogstation) in the future, and possibly new jobs in expansions after Dawntrail.
It would be nice if they would have an actual state of the game survey. I can't say that I agree with all the feedback getting left around here lately but it would be nice if they were using a better method to collect it.
It would be nice if they could find a way to put surveys like this within the actual game, and maybe give a small prize or incentive for filling it out. I'm guessing most players don't check the lodestone or forums.
Besides the sentiments about how disappointing the survey was...
Really? Even blue and red jongleur were choices for NPCs? But no Scarface Bugaal Ja on that list? The guy had a Postmoogle questline and even crashed one Moonfaire event as a FATE. But they left him off on the list. The nerve. We're heading to the Mamool Ja homeland next expansion so I'm expecting to finally see this notorious bathing dance somewhere...
The character limit (only one) was annoying, but I managed it.
Nice survey. I would have liked to write more about Job design, but I don't think that's the point of it, and the rest was fun enough to fill out. I'm glad the Devs are listening/interested in what we players have to say. Good stuff.
The problem is that it comes in a time where the patience of players has nearly totally eroded, and even some long time defender of the game begin to say there is a problem with the current state. With the 10 years livestream being delayed, this survey just seems like a lame joke . It's just super bad timing. But they created the conditions that lead to this. We would have had that exact same survey 3 years ago when it was the 10 years including 1.0 - so during ShB - and nobody would have complained. The context matter a lot here.
For a later storyline?Quote:
Well, who did you pick? Lol
Mother Miounne.

"This game is doomed"
The very last part needed to allow far more than 500 characters...
For something labelled as A Realm Reborn 10th Anniversary Survey, would have been nice to see:
Are you happy with the direction that FFXIV has taken?
Are you happy with the job design in FFXIV?
Are you happy with the content design in FFXIV?
That would have been interesting to see the results. Instead, it's just fluff.
They need to do more surveys like this one... like, every patch, with all sorts of topics regarding the game. It would be so much better for feedback than this place.
Zanarkand: regardless. you do know that they dont design by committee. A lot of the feedback regarding this has has already been stated...so theyd be looking for other feedback on other issues.
I think the favorite mount and minion questions is a way to see what in game or out of game things you like. As someone's favorite could be one that is Mogstation only or from an art book purchase or as I said from an activity from within the game only. I haven't done the survey yet so I don't know any of the other questions besides those two and the final question. Yet if those two are anything to go by then I'm guessing they're trying to judge what activities in game do we do along with should they continue with releasing things tied to other purchases or directly to the Mogstation.
They also ask if you’ve played other MMOs and FF games, about your favourite job, your main home point, your most formidable foe, a character to possibly make a come back and how would you describe the game (or something along those lines). I may be missing something but I think that’s pretty much it. Questions had a little box to allow you to briefly explain your choices.
I really wish I could go back and edit my answer now, this would have fit the rest of my responses perfectly.
In spite of this survey having likely been sponsored by the marketing team, I really hope that the verbatim get forwarded to the development team.
In reality, what having snarky comments would do is have it completely ignored and never reach the devs. All the devs will see is a point form summary of some of the interesting results/common thoughts. People insulting Yoshi-P/etc are simply going to have those comments removed before analysis.
edit:
It might be cathartic to get 'it' out though, so you do you :)
No, not meaning to be condescending at all. The reality is, 99% of our individual responses won't matter in the slightest, so for some, getting their frustrations out, even if they know it's essentially meaningless can be a good thing for them. Whether or not you meant to be snarky, anything that is off-topic from the post will be removed/ignored (even if it's not snarky). So people putting "yoshi-p needs to be removed" and similar thoughts simply won't accepted. And I was very serious about the devs never seeing individual feedback, they simply don't have the time to look through that. They'll have an analyst work through the data first.
I agree, I think it’s just a way to celebrate the 10th anniversary and not much more than that… this is a tell us what you like best kind of thing. :)
For my favorites, I did end up picking the Runar minion and made sure I mentioned how much I loved the art book his code was included with. I love the art books and collect them all. I had a hard time picking a favorite at all though because I’m a minion collector and rotate through them a lot.
The question about your toughest enemy though, my hardest “boss” was not listed: Gogo! lol so I ended up picking Shadowkeeper instead, mentioning that I had bought the mount and was disappointed that it didn’t play the raid music from its fight. lol so I peppered in a few things here and there that I’d like to see improved but mostly in the context of “it would be even better if…” kind of statements.
Thanks. I don't know anything about how SE works , however the verbatim (i.e. the free text responses) can potentially be automated through various ways. It doesn't require someone to individually read through (potentially) thousands of responses in order analyze them unless they're back in the Stone Age. The results are then presented, most likely as you say as aggregates, even if it's as relatively high level as a WordCloud.
There is usually someone required to start this process, so there is some manual effort, so it's entirely up to SE if they want to disregard some comments like your example that contain references to "yoshi-p". (or obscenities , etc) Personally I wouldn't , but hey not my company.
I would like for Lyse to go on vacation with us in Dawntrail. She needs a break from rebuilding a nation. I also miss our dynamic we had in Stormblood with Alisaie.
I picked Giott. I wanna see how much damage a drunk lala can create.
I didn't write anything on that.
Unu. Just because I want to know more about the guy and think it would be neat to see more about a Elidibus through the eyes of, as far as we can tell, his only real apprentice. Where WoL is effectively Azem's, Unu is the only other one of a similar station still existing.
Though after I finished, I got to thinking, it'd be cool if they extended the Postmoogle questline every expansion. That was a neat questline to get more info on both characters and world lore, and I think it would be something worth continuing someday, considering I don't think it's been added to since ARR itself. It is a good vehicle for learning things in-universe about side characters and historic events.
EDIT:
From memory, but:
Favorite/Main Job: WHM
Mount: Lynx of Eternal Light for the time being (I don't exactly have a favorite, just using a lot lately)
Minion: Wanderer's Campfire (made sure to note how annoying it is being unable to use it in, say, Pagos...)
Nemesis: None
Character: Unu
Don't remember anything else.
I feel oddly vindicated by this comment...
If you haven't already, do all the role quests in EW. Or specificaly the Ranged Physical one. I won't say anything else.
Considering she can effectively personal LB in PvE entirely on her own that goes through Hallowed Ground...a lot.
EDIT2:
You know, I didn't think about it, but now that I've seen it said, yes, I agree. We haven't had Lala rep since Papa. And while he was a good character who went out strong, that was 6 years ago.
I personally would like more deep lore stuff (which is why I tend to go with the characters like Unu for this sort of thing), but in terms of just having a fun story or future party members, I'd agree it'd be good to have more Lala on the team. Though I think Pipin is pretty busy protecting the Sultana, but it would be nice to see more. Maybe they could loan us one of the BLM Guildmasters. :)
My pick for additional quest content was Pipin. Other than Tataru and Krile, the Lalafells in the game get the effing shaft. Far too much focus on cats and elves. Snore. Honestly Pipin should be a party member. Why no Lalafell party members?! He's a badass and there's definitely room for a DRK in the rotation.
