Why is there a "children's bed" mount?

I like it. *shrug* Like I tend to say, different strokes for different folks. Just because you dont like it doesn't make it a waste of time and resources for everyone.

Let me explain this for the folks that just want to cause problems and are possibly a bit dense.

-Once upon a time we had imagination and dreams.

-We read books about stories of adventure.

-We made children's movies that broadened our imagination.

Movies like:

Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland
&
Bedknobs and Broomsticks

Now go look those movies up. Learn why things like the flying children's bed exists and get off of whatever soapbox you think you are championing. Geez.....

How, on earth, does your mind link something this innocuous to what child pornography? Is that it? This is just getting dangerously ridiculous. Most people will see a bed, maybe think of children's stories (The Magic Doorknob?), the description even alludes to that with the inner child. And your mind jumps to that? I find THAT seriously disturbing, not that item. Just maybe get your head out of the gutter or looked at.

I still have plushies ^_^ thinking of donating some of them though because they piled up, the two moogles will stay :3

In the grand scheme of mounts, this is one I actually like more than a great majority of what there is to collect. I wouldn't normally use it for everyday uses, but I'd probably bring it out if I'm headcanoning having some relaxation time in my house. Or if there is a long AFK in a dungeon and I'm bored. Doze emote only lasts a few seconds and I often hoped for a /sleep emote.

Of course then there is PvP where the more ridiculous, the better for many.

I... sort of understand taking issues with it, but more so for the name than anything else. A "children's" bed in a game with a predominantly adult player population is... well, kind of weird. I don't mind a bed with plushies and sparkles as much as the next person, but specifying it as being a kid's bed is a strange choice. It couldn't be "pretty bed" or "quilted bed" or "lovely bed" or something? My mind didn't necessarily immediately make the same inferences other posters are making, but I can see why it would bother some people. Especially given the casual, aesthetic-based, RP-trained approach the game is taking nowadays. Yeah, a bit odd.

Nobody (well, theres always somebody but you know what i mean) has a problem with the aesthetic of the bed. WHY does it have to be named childrens bed? Lets be honest, there is 0 reason for it to be called like that. A plushy is not an indicator of a child.

In the FFXIV days of yore before it began attracting new crowds and became a hotspot for RP, virtual nightclubs, brothels and 18+ hangouts, and the game was just (mainly, anyway) trying to be an MMO, I may have been more inclined to think "hm, whatever, I suppose."

But given the current context of the game, it feels more like a... choice. I don't know where exactly the line in the sand is between "your mind is going somewhere it doesn't need to" and "a general awareness of the internet", but there are so many other options, and considering there is already an acknowledgement of certain weird areas existing what with "catgirls behaving uncomfortably cutesy" practically being a meme at this point, to me, it feels like a better name was out there.

The name's the only thing that is weird. Why specify that it's a children's bed...? That's the creepy part. Plenty of adults have plushies on their bed, I do even as a married woman.
It's not something I'd spend a lot of energy on, but it does give me the ''ick'' considering that this playerbase is full of creeps.

the world is full of creeps, I would be surprised beyond belief if SE filtered them all out of 14.

Have you been looking at the same mount? All this is for me, is a bed that reflects the fantasy of being a child and to be on a fantastic adventure starting in your own bedroom. That is a common motif in children‘s stories. What I see here is super innocuous nostalgia, the celebration of the inner child. As if vilifying something this cute and innocent would do anything about internet creeps. How would it do that?

With the breadth of styles for mounts in this game, some are prone not to match ones’ taste. And that‘s just simply okay. The game serves a wide demographic of players. Some just might like to surround themselves with plushies, sugary cuteness and giggle - well, if that makes you happy, i‘d say go for it. This is along the lines of the pixie tribe quest area for me. Just happy and positive.

Like I said before, I'm just giving my opinion. The bed sucks. Like really sucks. And its disturbingly weird. But oh well, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it and i can spend the faux leves towards something more worthwhile.

Gemina, before I met my beloved, I dated a few ladies, in each and every case their beds were strewn with huge plushies. One of them had a THREE FOOT Garfield, which she said she used to cuddle up with in bed. Gotta tell you, I tried it and it was warm and soft and floofy, so i dont really see an issue here.

Hell one of my wifes nurses was given her Sylvester the Cat plushie to take home, she LOVED it ( yeah, well again, infection control really didnt like it so theres that....). That looks like every womans bed.

I dont get the outrage. There are a lot of things to get annoyed about, but this one? I dont see it.
