Same old complaint.
Solution? Just visit every ward and try to call your retainer. There are alway some wards that don't full.

Nope. in fact, my retainer is out of the wards more often than it's in, because I don't sell things very often.Quote:
Are you one of the people keeping your retainer in uldah's wards permanently so that you don't have the "wards full" problem?
My understanding is that the merchant houses are a temporary solution and after 2.0 all three cities will be integrated into a single search system.Quote:
I don't see why it is not possible to have ONE are with THREE search npcs
somewhat but not at all. i'm not quite sure what i'm trying to say but removing price history promotes worth. different items are worth different prices to different people. if it's worth it to you then buy it and if it's not then don't. it also promotes supply and demand. if i'm the only one that has an item i don't want to have to severely limit my price because someone before me sold it for a quarter of what it is worth (to me). now the public has a false sense of worth and will most likely deny buying an item priced at 5mil even if it is indeed worth it.
i understand it can go both ways but that's how life is and here's a weird example; slow motion cameras are insanely expensive partly because of the quality and tolerance but also because there aren't many people that make high-quality slo-mo cameras and because the materials are made in such small batches instead of massively produced. i think it's safe to say slo-mo cameras are price fixed! gasp!
Yeah I'm sure they will fix all that for 2.0, probably a lot programming wise already in the game to change it so drastically. This has been a complaint since launch pretty much so I'm sure its different in 2.o.
i do it all days in excalibur , and for now i had not luck, and i kept only 1 retainer in uldah , i do it for respect to other players, community can fix it, but i have more hopes in solution of devs than in the community.
That might also be the reason you think the system works and we don't need a "real" AH. It's not the case.
I tried to put my retainer in wards today. I tried every ward available in Uldamn and every single ward was full.
Even if they merge the 3 houses, the capacity problem won't magically go away. Retainers shouldn't be "physically" accessible when selling items. That way you can still sell anonymously, but there is no capacity problem.
You have 2 options:
1. Use another city (you do know theres 2 cities that DOESNT have full wards, yes?)
2. Understand that they've stated a lot of the restrictions in version 1.x is due to the client and server software.
I really don't see what a "regular AH" will do or even fix anything because people are stupid with the current setup now, people won't magically become smart about how to use it.
"It'll set universal prices!"
Nope, you can see history now, doesn't stop people from undercutting by 10-400k for the fuck of it.
"I don't have to go to a zone"
You still have to interact with an NPC.
"It's a familiar system"
Wards has a search system and a history, which are the only things that set an AH apart, the kind most people expect. Almost no one is expecting an AH where you have to bid and hope you win. The only way I can see an AH being better is the fact it will show +1 and materia melded gear....
...Which they can easily add to the current system just not in version 1.x.
Yes, I know there are other cities with empty wards. Read my first post in this thread for the reason why they are empty.
As a customer, I don't care. Software is their job. When they chose the engine, they had to think ahead, which they obviously didn't (or someone overruled them).Quote:

Yes, they will change it in 2.0, but if they keep it a retainer-based system, a merged ward will be limited to X retainers anyway, which will lead to the same problem once again. There are only so many character models you can fit into an area without making it look ridiculous (hint: it already does now), thus them being "full".
They should have went for an AH right from the start.
Please assemble what is known so far about the MW / AH plans for 2.0 or any suggestions here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...status-for-2.0
Dont need anymore fix to retainers . I WANT REAL AH Where you can see what things sold for but you cant see what the rest of the items are costing
Personally I don't like this system. It makes you guess from the absolute low (you never know, right?) to the highest amount you are willing to pay for, which is a hassle. I'd rather see the asking price and a price history.
in General:
- Cities not tied together is a big problem. The wards in Uld'ah are the fullest which means that a buyer will search these, and find what he/she is looking for. That means that everyone whose retainer is locked out of the Uld'ahn market wards has very low chance to sell their goods.
- No price history or actual selling price information is available when you put an item up for sale: This means you have to go search in the wards for every item you want to sell, write down the price you want to sell it for based on what is up and their price history, then go back to your retainer to put up your goods (and possibly be locked out of the ward you should be in). This is extremely time consuming, unnecessarily complicated and very annoying.
- Limit on the amount of items you can put on sale is bothersome low. (If it's a measure so people can not increase there inventory size by putting up a large amount of items for max prize, then pls keep the items for sale in the inventory amount count.)
- No distinction between NQ and HQ in search or prize history and all the practical problems that come along with that.
