What? Someone bidding at the end by scouting out the highest odds plots doesn't mean they want a house any less than you. Its just the logical move.

Lost my bid, which means I'm out until the next time more wards get added to the game. Hopefully before 2024 (and with more individual-only wards.)
Dear Youtubers reminding people to bid on the last day

I was the only bidder on one of the small beach front plots in a new Mist ward so I was able to relocate there. :)
I won't know for another 8 hours or so if I got mine or not. Medium Goblet Subdivision next to the apartments. No idea how many bids, haven't been there since Wednesday night.
tbh, they have to create a system where you can upgrade your house, like the terrain size is the size of a large, but if you want a smal the house is the size of a small, and the plot can be used for gardening ect, then you can upgrade it to a medium or a large, thats it, or give players that are subscribed to the game since at least 7/10 years a free house, or add 100.000 once and for all
Lost to a last minute bid as well.
Only bid on my slot. Same house same slot available in 4 other wards with 0 bids (as well as the identical versions on the other “side”). Guy decides to bid over mine and wins.
This. With Island Sanctuary being such a large personal instanced area that allows for visitors, they’ve shown instanced housing is possible. And it’s a way that everyone could have the preferred plots. Just choose your location and size. Lav small? You get a 59. Lav medium? 41. And so on. Keep the wards for those that want them, but add instanced!
I have to think the reason there are not more mediums and larges is zone stability. If you walk around the wards several houses can easily be moved to the next size up with a lot dead space around them.
Feel bad for the people who missed out. And feel bad for the people who defend the development team.
Lost to another bidder. When I logged out 2 minutes before the deadline, I was the only bidder. Login to see 5 others bidding and one of them won.
I'm shocked Bad luck protection isn't in this game for this. Bad luck protection would mean that ppl would eventually get a house based on how they lost. Lost a small get a small bad luck ticket. With your odds getting better each time you lose. Yeah new bidders would not have good odds but they get a ticket for losing. That way if you keep at it you'll get it. feels better then this.
Had to leave to work 20 min before results, was only bidder . Hopefully I got it but with my luck some last min bidder came in and got it :/
Lost (again) by last minute bidder after I went to sleep and woke up for the news. I can't do anything with my money, it seems.
I just wish they would at least let us withdraw our bids. Bid on a house early in the week and it's hours before the drawing and there are now 4 bids on the one you did but 0 on some others around you? Let me take my bid back and move it over to a 0 bid house. That way it's now a 33% chance for the other people instead of a 25% chance and another house gets bought, too. It's win/win for everyone involved.
I'll always be baffled at how Island Sanctuary can be implemented, but woe betide instanced housing becoming a thing. I hope it can be considered, because I don't pay a monthly sub to be regularly disappointed. I'm happy for all the individuals who got what they wanted - I unfortunately didn't make the cut.
Likely there are far more people happy with their luck that they got a plot and are done with it.
Other people get on the forums when they have something to gripe about the game, watch the current drama, or just want to vent.
Unhappy folks are the loudest and such, thus easier to remember those momens than the good ones you had.
Edit: Here, to give out some good vibes.

I lost against the last minute bidders. AGAIN
fck 9 months of lifespan to cycle every 9 days into a lottery just to get depression for free. Thx Square. I hate you too by now. Give me my Time back, wasted on this shit.
I'd rather fight bots and trolls on the plakard than this pandemic virus of a system.
They need to change it where lottery ticket isn't the price of the housing plot. That way can enter more than once and have a better chance winning a plot.
It's called fishing for best odds. Anyone that wants the best odds at getting a house /certain plot should 10,000% be doing it. The pattern is that these people are playing the game of lottery optimally.
Placing a bid early leaves you completely wide open to an unknown, infinite number of bids coming in across the week. Doing the bid at the last moments means you get to find the plot you want with the lowest numbers and thus increase your odds. As a result, you'll hear more of these stories since by playing the statistical odds optimally, they're more likely to succeed.
Unfortunately, there being 0 bid plots doesn't help. If someone wants a particular plot, they'll bid on it regardless if there's 0 bid options even right next door.
There may have also just been the rush of last minute bidders filling up those zero plot bids, and yours now either had the lowest number / all plots were tied so they picked yours.
As for the topic, my friend managed to snag the small she wanted in the same ward as me after the plot opened up last cycle, so we're quite happy with that.
Maybe I'm thinking too much into this, but everyone's losses is against last minute bidders. Isn't that strange? Seems like the systems favors last minute bidders more than 70% of the time. I was number 1 in lottery, yet I lost against number 8, who was a last minute bidder along with 9.
Same. I specifically bid on a plot that had no bidders and of course someone had to go for mine even though there are tons of no bid plots. Lost in a 50/50. Been trying to get a house for YEARS have spent many 24 hour nights awake. Happy I didn’t have to do that this time… but…. I’m sad. I wish they had instanced housing so bad.
Well part of the problem is YoshiP operates under the delusion of living neighborhoods. He wants this system to be where people are walking around in the wards and seeing other people and looking at all the houses.
Meanwhile in reality the wards are dead zones, the only people outside are either going to a house to go inside or going to a market board and then going back inside or leaving the zone.
I am saying this - There is a mod/plugin that certain discord channels/servers use that keep people updated on the states of plots throughout the wards. Though I am not sure if that also mentions the amount of bids the plots have when they are open for the lottery.
Just food for thought of which lengths people go for this.
Managed to relocate to my desired plot (small) in Shirogane. That said, my server is not very populated and only the Large/Mediums were snagged up in my new district.
It's just so funny to me, how people would actually prefer housing savage and placard spaming over the "new and improved" lottery system lmao.
Like at this point it should REALLY ring a bell, that people HATE the lottery system and maybe instance housing would be a solution. But we can't do that. We can only do Island Sanctuary which is basically a watered down version of instance housing on a bigger scale.
Or here is a WILD concept: Reduce the housing timer, as someone suggested earlier, and idk make bidding and result periods last 1-2 days instead of almost an entire week, so people don't start growing gray hairs by the time they actually get a plot. IF they get a plot at all. Or just do something about shell FCs and RMT ? But yeah... Such great improvements over macro placard spamers and relocating trolls. Love it :)
Lost lottery-
I play since 8 years and never had a house. Old system literally encouraged botting because if you were a person with a job u needed incredible luck to get one otherwise.
This system is better but for people like me who had to do 200+ castrum runs to get one field note or needs to run the current normal raid tier 10+ times to get one item, its even more difficult
Wandered around my server till I found a medium with 0 bids that was in my top 10 list. Got my bid in 20m before they closed on my #3 spot. Ez relocation.
Has Sqare even acknowledged how awful the system is? I don't mean just passively adding new wards but actually saying literally anything about the dumpster fire that is player housing and how so many people hate it.
It's the way they want housing. If we were gonna get instanced we'd have gotten it already but they like the neighborhood style. Island Sanctuary is, in my opinion, our compromise for that.
Plus it gives people a reason to stay subbed so why change it?
*This isn't me saying housing in its current state is good.*
i secured a medium (no other bidders) and the gf got a large (3 bidders). Even though we got what we wanted. this system still sucks. imo they need to come up with a system that gives everyone access. They pulled it off with islands so it's not impossible.
Yeah I know it's what they want, I commented on it a few posts ago too. It's just so mind-boggling, I've believed YoshiP might be out of touch with the player base for a while but to be this blind to how unhappy people are with a major feature in the game is just truly shocking.
