And with no word from SE and the FFXIV community being relatively calm over the issue, this seems poised to be swept under the rug again.
The only way that world first groups found out about this was by looking back in FFLogs and ACT. Without those add-ons, people would be stuck. And now that parties know of the limitations, they’re able to change their teams accordingly.
So remember that when people say FFXIV isn’t an add-on and plug-in game. With 20,000 people on Mare at any given time, and ACT being required to clear high-end fights, our moral high ground against WoW and other games is slipping. And, of course, we’ll still praise SE. Nothing will happen. Expect all the aforementioned problems to get worse (and you WILL like them), until which point we all leave FFXIV to do something else.
I’m sorry, what part of this is parser/add-on related again?

Stop forcing unrelated topics onto unrelated issues.
just ignore macchiato, at this point Im just convinced their only reason for being on the forums is to show how much they hate SE and not contribute to any meaningful conversations.
Anyways, this new fiasco does indeed show more evidence why the 2-minute buff meta is just not the best direction to take for the balancing of this game; when you're actively punished for doing so!
It be something if they somehow pull the plug and re-balance Omega mid-world race but I really wish the combat team would just finally admit this was such a mistake and to rework the jobs to not adhere to this obsession with the buff meta. Its an 8-man fight, there really shouldnt EVER be a need to have more than 30 damn buffs are you kidding me!?
TBH I wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason issues like these keep being ignored for so long is because people keep forcing unrelated topics like parsing into them (especially on the English side). Topics that the dev team don’t want to touch with a 10 foot pole.
I saw this a lot before I took my nearly three year break at the start of lockdowns, and it seems to have gotten worse since then. Main difference being all the people I remember back in the day calling this behavior out either left the forums or got baited into bans in the meantime.
Probably won't happen for two reasons in that 1) Buffs are multiplicative in this game and not just the jobs but so many fights would have to been looked at and adjusted depending on what makes the cut and 2) This issue would take probably a few months to resolve given how it's an engine and infrastructure issue.
I have posed a question regarding the buff cap in hopes that it'll get some attention in the upcoming Q&A event.
Please like it if you agree with them increasing the buff cap!

With the newest ultimate out, this question actually becomes really really interesting. Considering that comps hitting the buff cap in TOP was supposedly "intentional" (according to the devs) requiring groups to either change comps or change burst timing strategies, increasing the buff cap to 40 would remove this intentional mechanic completely. While one fight shouldn't dictate a change that may be necessary, I do believe it will hold some weight in the argument for the dev team.
It was kinda of a given thing seeing how easy it is to hit the buff cap in that fight, so believing that the internal testers never caught it is kinda bonkers to believe but whatever. It felt like an intentional design due to the nature of Omega, now regarding whether people like this mechanic or not is another thing.
Considering there was an auto attack at the start of P3 that was so quick it killed WF groups over and over and wasn't intentional...Yes, it is very understandable to think they might've not caught it XD. However, someone did report it as a bug and the devs came back as it being intentional.

It is in "working as intended"
Yes, the fact that there's a cap of 30 is working as intended but it doesn't mean that the game itself should be like this due to the issues it creates.
They already increased the cap in the past and they should do it again as the list of procs and buffs we get keeps going higher and higher.
It's their way to limit players from overpowering challenging content I guess.

Just a small bump, as this is still happening daily in content like DRS or TOP.
I for one love having my buffs eaten by Omega.
Supported. The buff cap needs to be lifted. It's easy to hit it during Ultimates.
All up ons in favor of this change for myriad reasons. This is something the game would benefit from tremendously.
TEA is another Ultimate. Which again is something most of the playerbase doesn't touch. And like I said your average player probably never sees the buff cap due to not caring about lining up buff windows. If enough people did then you'd see more pull timers in normal and alliance raid. Or the rare time someone starts one that it gets respected. Either way I do feel that at least the buff cap could use a boost.
If they can't touch the cap, then delete most party buffs and rebalance things. Would tune down the burst meta meme gameplay too.
Bumping for visibility as it's been a while since the last post. Any support would be appreciated!
Developers won't do anything because the developers do not get it and it certainly isn't helped by ignorant players saying shit like this:
Want this problem to be fixed? Somehow cause JP to start a drama over third-party hacks that can bypass this cap during a world first race where JP loses to NA and post it everywhere on 2ch. That is the only time they do anything.
I'm afraid Final Fantasy XIV does not have any high-end fights. They don't exist according to forum users so there is no need to pay any attention to issues in these mythological encounters with mythological issues that raiders make up to complain about. Furthermore, any issue that arise when you play the game correctly should not be fixed. You see, the solution to this mythological issue is simple: don't align your buffs and deal less damage, like a normal player would do so. The correct way to play this game is to use your 2-min buffs randomly when you feel like it, probably right after scratching your nose to flick off the popcorn that went on your nose while watching the latest Marvel movie. Alignment is playing the game incorrectly. Therefore this is a mythological issue because aligning buffs means you intentionally went out of your way to break the game.
Soooooooooo, I guess it turns out they can touch the buff cap limit, as they have done so in this patch (at least with some content).
For anybody interested, please instance into Alphascape V4.0 and apply more than 30 buffs.
You won't dodge any.
Yes, there is chatter in the community that the buff cap has been increased to 60, but only in raid content and possibly exploratory zones.
It certainly took long enough. Now we just wait and see what kind of bugs they introduced with this fix.
So it seems that the cap has been increased after all! Check this Reddit post for proof: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxivdiscus..._on_increased/
However, this increase seems to affect 8-people raids, and likely trials and ultimates, too.
Delubrum Reginae (Savage) as well as the other Save the Queen zones seem to be unaffected by it. It's understandable if they'd rather not raise it in large-scale areas such as Bozja and Zadnor, but I think DRS in particular should get this increase, as it's there where it's most needed after the duties that have already got it fixed.
If anyone is going to be in contact with the dev team/Yoshi-P during the FanFest, it would be appreciated if you could raise this question to them personally so that they might include Delubrum Reginae in this buff cap increase.
It would be really sad and strange if this content in particular ends left out of this, especially considering that if we get a new Exploratory Zone in Dawntrail, we will likely have even more buffs to add to the list.
