This is my biggest annoyance with this discussion: the total disregard for others because they probably don't even participate in any kind of gathering. Other people use these spaces too, so whatever change is made shouldn't hinder them any.
Do I really need to repeat myself?
Anybody think Critical Engagements are a good model for overworld bosses as opposed to FATEs or S Ranks in their current form?
Sorry, multidollar company--- I mean noooo they can't touch the hunt system that they keep rereleasing every expansion! N-no it's far to hard to change anything at all! No time, schedule very tight, too difficult, sorry! And besides it's totally perfect the way it is! Here take a single new ugly hair for our unfinished races instead! It'll hide your ears but hey we'll fix that in another update! :>
They have the technology, and those are just improved fates. And I don't believe there anything preventing them, other than greed. I just don't think SE will do anything until it's hurts their wallet. Just like the MSQ dungeons, they dragged their feet on it as long as they could, but I don't think hunts effect sales so it'll likely never happen.
Trolls never do. He forgets people have him on ignore. :p
Crit Engagements are cool, but limiting. I don't see them going in this direction because you lose that old open world boss feel. Assuming they go with the cap of 48 from Bozja, you also run the risk of having not enough people show up because people will stop showing up to queue for a spot and get rejected. Imagine all this fuss pushing for a change and you get stuck in the same place of not being able to fight these things. I would think they also have to make it a more mechanical and engaging fight at that point because of the limit on participants.
Of course feeling is an etheral quality, but the Critical Engagements feel way more like open world bosses to me than the S Ranks do.
That's why I would propose a different queueing system - you queue for Critical Engagements server-wide wherever you are and then select which expansion you wanna queue up for, level 50 CEs, level 60 CEs, etc. Whenever something pops, people move up the queue. If you got a spot, you either get teleported to the location or if you think the open world feeling would suffer from that, you would be forced to travel to the location within the preparation time.Quote:

Additionally the cooldown on those Critical Engagements would be severely reduced to about an hour or so. Maybe with the added caveat that all monsters from an expansion or zone cluster need to be beat first before one can be tackled again, which would incentivize spawning.
S Rank hunting in this model would no longer be a cross-server or cross-DC issue, instead we'd have more server-bound hunting comms.
Yeah that would suck!Quote:

One hundred percent. The fights would force a stat sync and it would be on the level of Bozjan CEs difficulty-wise. If it's a world boss it needs to be dangerous, especially in lower level zones so the sprouts get to see some deaths. For sprouts who only experience a game without much challenge for a really really long time, it's good to have something to look forward to right in front of you sometimes. If you're that type of player that is.Quote:

Another upside of the CE model is that world bosses would not eventually scale out, they would stay evergreen content. A Level 50 hunt mark at this point is unfortunately no longer content, it's hay to graze for the antelopes.
The prompt doesn't have to be server-wide. It can stay local and people will find their way over.
Never been on a very crowded train? It can take 4 minutes for everyone in a super large train to make it into a zone.
How do I know? I started using a stopwatch and would intentionally include myself in the last batch of players. Of course by then, the players who were first through got tired of waiting so the first mark of the zone would be dead and it would be a rush to try to get a hit in on the second.
But as someone who conducts and coordinates with other conductors, it was interesting information to have. Fortunately, there have only been a couple of times I've seen that long a delay outside of patch week and reset days. For most prime time trains, it's about 2 minute wait (time is between 105 and 130 seconds).
But for someone who's trying to catch a big fish during a short window, that's 2 minutes less they have to accomplish it.
Please stop claiming that things don't happen when clearly they do.
That would probably make things even worse as it would severely limit the number of players able to participate.
If you expect to get the hunt achievements in a few months, then yes, there are not enough A and S Ranks. Well, there are some players who have the newest hunt mount after 3 months.
But sadly the hunt achievements for ShB and EW seem to look like that at least world traveling is intended by SE for these achievements.
