I'd like people to stop saying "just play hyur!" when someone complains about something they don't like in their races. The body shape, animation and the face matters. I'd like to cut off my Miqo's tail and I'd like to be taller. I still play with her, however, because I like everything else(and because Viera is a dumpster fire).

That been said, the only solution you have are some stuff that break ToS, because they'll never give the option to remove what you don't like lol

Honestly I still stand by this.

If I'm going pie-in-the-sky here, I think I actually prefer the Raen's skin tones a bit more, and the fact their eyes are *very* white (whereas the Xaela's seem nearly black). I wouldn't mind them maybe having pointed ears (maybe relatively short, like Hilda's) and more prominent canines (nothing over the top, just to give them a bit more personality to their smile). And maybe less slanted eyes and/or more prominent eyebrows?

I'd also really dig a different standing animation, and maybe a less rigid walking animation.

Like I said, I like playing tall, fit-looking characters in games, and the Au Ra check *most* of the boxes for me. But it's a major bummer when you want to mess around with your glamour a bit, only to realize your horns and scales throw off the "look" you're trying to go for. It's particularly bad with the Raen, because the ivory coloring really doesn't gel with a lot of the darker armor sets.

I do find it funny that the OP objected to Hrothgar/Roegadyn being too "cuddly" in appearance and that they like the "dangerous" aesthetic... while now having a Lalafell avatar!

Highlanders are where is at. Au Ra are either too wierdly proportioned or their posture and animations are just so wacky.

Au Ra? more like Au Ra'nt you a flippin glad for not playing as one.

Also, considering how many people are scared of hugging me on these threads out of fear that I will tear their heads from their shoulders, I think it's safe to say Hrothgar can be intimidating enough. Besides, have you seen a Hrothgar Dark Knight? Guts would be proud. Even better if it's a Roegadyn, they make Darth Vader look like a twink!

If I look cuddly, it's because I take care to look adorable and kind. Not everyone can pull off "deadly but will bake cakes for you".

Mao agrees. Mao wants bigger and longer tails. Mao wants MORE scales....all over body. Not just teensy little patches here and there. Mao also wants more horn styles. Mao is greedy dragon-kin. Mao wants it all!

Personally, I would really dig au ra to actually look like lizards or dragons or demons or whatever other specie people erroneously think the race is supposed to be modeled after instead of just humans with extremely aggressive skin cancer, horns, and tails.

Indeed! I changed from a Xaela to a Raen (because they have warmer skin-colors and their eyes are lighter, a bit closer to my IRL appearance), but when I realized just HOW much their horns class with all my favorite armor sets (like the Abyssos armor), I was pretty bummed. I'd bought the fantasias in a bundle, so I figured I'd just play around as a Lalafell before committing to whatever race I was going to stick with.

The issue for me is, as much as I love the Xaela's lore and culture, the fact their tails clip through everything, along with having *really* dark eyes, I felt like I was limited in their glamour options, as well. Since I'm a redhead in real life, I'd like a character with a warmer, but still pale complexion, and light blue eyes. The Raen fit that bill a little more closely, but again; their horns and tail throw off the "look" I'd otherwise like to use.

Again, it's not the end of the world or anything. I'd just dig having a variant or something of the Au Ra, same overall build and body type, but without the horns or tail. I feel like then, I would be a lot more flexible on my character's glamour options.

I agree that it would be cool to have more customization. For example to allow some kind of cross-races, which is then reflected in options like:
Decide off/on horns, off/on animalears or tail, or choose special eyes or theeth.

For the people who want AuRa to be more monsterlike: Should be so for females too then?
I never liked it that the girls are somehow like japanese schoolgirls with some lizard features added, and the males are like some kind of demonic bodybuilders.
The males need more handsome options and the females need more dragonlike options in my opinion.

I liked to play Miqo but I really don't like the tail clipping. I wish I could turn the tail off.
Now as a Viera I sometimes wish to turn off the huge ears or at least an option to just make them much smaller. Could look cute and maybe then we could wear hats.
And it's not a solution to tell people to play a Hyr (or whatever). I would do so, if they would have prettier options, animations and better matching voices.
A different race is never a solution, when people are unhappy about specific features of a race they already like.

And I want to say, that I wonder a lot how many people tell other people to use some mods as a solution.
It's not officially allowed, it excludes all players on Playstation, and so far I heard it's just client side. FFXIV is a social game.
Where is it a solution when other people don't see it?
