Its actually probably not, but at the same time its probably going to very customizable, both in the font, but also the background image. Put a blue tint on it and its very much like an old school Final Fantasy window prompt. Also as others have said this is the image style that the current UI director is known to use all the time, from Vagrant story to Final Fantasy Tactics, to the screen above in Ogre Battle.

Furthermore my FFXI chat window used to look very similar to that box with some of the various changes you could make to it. The main difference is the centerized boxed approach that FFXIV has deployed except now its not transparent anymore.

Well we can already modify the font used by the game it just has to be a universal one. I doubt they would drop that support.

I was thinking Vagrant Story (which is long overdue for an HD co-op remake).

The pop-up numbers for healing and damage remind me of Final Fantasy Tactics.

The interface text reminds me of Final Fantasy 13.

I do foresee retaining the ability to customize typeface. Perhaps flexibility in the dialogue box (background color, border type, border color, retain the opacity). Yum.

I love it and I think it just looks that way because its the moogle saying it,... bear with me here but imagine that moogle and different characters/npc have some different text boxes to add to the immersion, if thats moogle only box then thats pretty legit.

At the very least, I'd like to see the text/type font change to be less comic book-esque, and something neutral or more FF appropriate. Since addons are going to be supported, at least give us the option to change the font if alterations aren't made before 2.0.

Everything i saw looked amazing, except for this one thing. Why the hell is the NPC dialog using some kind of comic book font?

Maybe it's specific to moogles?

While the font may need a change, I personally like the dialog box. It doesn't seem cartoony as much as organic or natural to me.

I m more worry about new graphic seem to be cel-shade, which mean it probably have worse quality to the current version? I hope it is not really a cel-shade tho. cel-shade has a lot of issue when you rotate camera around.

I personally love it! To me, it gives the game a bit more character. But I wont deny others the right to change it, because I know I don't speak for everyone.

I like the text box it hearkens to more fantasy-like and actually looks sorta like Vagrant Story box :). HAPPY wow you dissing my favorite released screenshot...that shot made me smile and you saying it is offputting LOL....

I don't mind it. Maybe they could make it more Vagrant Story-ish - although it already has a very Vagrant Story feel to it.

EDIT: Funny I read the first page and posted - and the post above me mentions VS. Least I wasn't alone in the thought ^_^

It looks great IMO, similar to Ogre Tactics and FFT font.

The first time I saw that screenshout I thought to myself "I really like what they did with the text box"...

I hope I can dress up that delivery moogle... he's adorable!

Kinda reminds me of Crystal Chronicles somehow. Good enough for me.

I think it looks great, tbh, but options to change the font and/or style of the background would always be welcomed.

I love comic book-esque style from moogle screenshot ! Its great.

That was the first thing I've thought. It brings a feeling of Final Fantasy further into the game. In fact, the new typeface and dialog boxes are similar to the ones in FFIX. XD

It's very cute and gives a lighthearted appeal. Not overly lighthearted, either.

The exact thought came to my mind when I saw the screenshot. I hope this is one of the customization given to us when 2.0 comes out.

Nice!!!! Someone else sees this as well. Was playing ff9 on PSN some time ago and that Delivery Moogle screenshot reminded me of FF9's Mognet. Good stuff so far, I like :D

Obviously you haven't played Vagrant story(Set in the world of Ivalice). Text box is very reminiscent of that. I love it.
