De-ranking in Crystal Conflict is a horrible idea

Well you won't be able to compare data anymore. Because the achievements for finishing a season on a certain rank are not unique. Only the ones for Top 1, Top 30 and Top 100 will be. There was a post on the Lodestone about it.

So starting tomorrow, people will get all the achievements and we won't be able to compare anything.

……….so you’re saying that the rate for crystal ranks, the highest rated ranker will be very low once season 3 ends?

Well it will be the lowest yes. Because everyone who made it to Crystal will get Bronze too, but not every Bronze got to Crystal.

So it will look something like :

Crystal : 5%
Diamond : 6%
Platinum : 7%
Gold : 8%
Silver : 9%
Bronze : 10%

(Not actual calculations, just showing what the trend would look like)

Hmm……….here’s what I’m going to conclude if this de-ranking system going to implement.

From top % to low %: Platinum > Diamond > Gold > Crystal > Silver > Bronze.

Not looking at a hardcore setting, but a casual setting on top of how many ppl will tolerate the new system with 4 randoms.

It’s easy to get out of Bronze to Gold, but Crystal rank has changed so reaching that rank doesn’t matter anymore. It’s the highest crystal credit rank now so I expect that to be very low once the season ends.

If I were crystal credit rank say 2k and constant losing streak hit me to demotion. I would quit PvP then and there lol. So it’s why I put Crystal % on a very low rate.

Ranked PVP is just a different mindset that a lot of FFXIV players seem to struggle with. It's a competition, it's player versus player. Which means you have winners and you have losers. That's how competitions work.

For someone to win a game, someone has to lose a game. It's not the same as PVE where a group beating a boss does not mean that another group had to fail to beat the boss...

You can't control your teammates all the time, you'll get some dead weights here and there, but if you play enough games, the only constant in all those games become you. Working on improving YOUR own performance is what will separate you from the game losers, not praying to the RNG gods that they keep giving you good teammates. Because if you climbed by luck without working on your game and you keep playing, yes, you will de-rank, as you should.

Look at it from a PVE perspective. Everyone can do a low-level dungeon, the very vast majority can do normal raids, a smaller number of people can do savage raids on content and an even smaller number of people can do ultimates. Are the people clearing ultimates all cheating and buying clears ? A few of them, maybe, but certainly not all of them. People are not good at stuff from the jump and clear through everything without struggle. They work on their game, they improve, they learn and they win. De-ranking will ensure that you do just that. Ultimates are not for most people, just like Ranked PVP is not for most people.

Some content will just be outside of some people's reach if they are unwilling to put in the work or the time. That's okay. Raw skill and some chance can make up some of the difference, sure, but it's nothing compared to hard work. And hard work needs to be rewarded, because surpassing your own limits (a concept pushed in so many Japanese products) is great. If there is no struggle to win, then winning is meaningless. Right now, Crystal Rank is pretty meaningless.

De-ranking is great.

It is not easy to get out of Bronze. If it were easy, I'd be out already. Geeko has pretty much admitted he was carried to Crystal and at this point is just regurgitating the same "Dunning-Kruger" BS that Riot and Blizzard tell people so that they don't have to fix their own broken rank systems. Beyond that, Geeko is being a jerk for the sake of stroking his own ego.

People don't seem to understand how frustrating it is when you're no worse at this than anyone else, but you're being punished for the sin of not being gifted the perfect party from on high, and have it happen multiple games in a row.

To the go back to the original sentiment of this topic, these are fixes only being implemented at the high end and nothing is being done to fix matchmaking problems at the bottom. So I think I have every right to be upset and if I'm going to be given the "Git Gud!" crap from some smarmy internet rando, he'd better be prepared to get told off.

You are 20% of your team. If people can carry with 1/24 ppl in Frontlines, I think you can carry with 1/5.

I know, it’s a thought of mine to consider that option. Just looking at the end goal if they total the results in Season 3. If the participation numbers cut in half, I can see the results being the same. Just ppl not going to deal with the demotion or perhaps not advancing bronze.

It's not player vs player, its players vs players. Imagine if the CC ranking system was implemented into Frontlines(24vs24vs24) with no checkpoints, that would be ridiculous, and the people on top are more likely to be carried than not.

Again, you need a checkpoint to compensate for bad luck.

Not everyone enjoys the pendulum of wins and loses, especially when that pendulum is bigger.

You are looking for a 'competitive game' in the wrong place, as let's be real; what mainly decides your winning is your luck. Skill is only 20-30% of almost all CC games.

I'm already out. I see no reason to continue throwing myself at a mode that Squeenix has no intention of fixing. I'd rather grind Frontline for rewards and not have to worry about being harassed for my unfair rank.

I am done with this mode. Never faced such bad expierence than here.

The MM change should be already done before the mode came online or atleast adjusted to a degree wich dont give you such horrible matches. The only way to climp was to play classes wich was played by the worst, and beg you dont get another one in your team.

Alts (or twinks) was literally the next issue and will be carried of to the next season... good that SE will take another 2 season to "maybe" fix it. Great Great.

The worst about this is where was the player test? Where? Who got even this ideas?

I dont say much more about this mode itself. Its quite fun for casual but with a competitive ranking system? SE pls take it full back or put more resources in it i just dont see a future for this mode on this course.

At least give Feast back and his ranking System. It was a blessing compared to this.

If you couldn't get out of bronze then you were just bad...plain and simple. I don't believe that guy only lost 1 game, but you can contribute enough to carry. I can go in 7 or 8 game win streaks pretty easily.

Made it to Crystal on my Ult in 3 weeks with reaper just to say I did it.

Made it to Crystal with my main in 2 days with all classes... it was easy to me

I mean I get more frustrated with causal then ranked but plz note I dont go over 100 - 600 crystal since I don't care to be the Top 100
(No rewards that I care about)

Shouldn't have been better if deranking would apply only to Crystal? Why also Diamond?

Probably two reasons,both likely applying:
1.) So players who get into Diamond too early by a degree of luck not being stuck in the metaphorical Wolves' Den around Crystal players tearing them to shreds.
2.) So players like mentioned above help filling Golds getting queues.
