Staples of the series are in more than one FF game, things like Omega and Ultima, themes around the moon, Crystals, having wierd kids in the party, Cid, Biggs and Wedge, reoccuring jobs etc etc, these are the things that make FF what it is.

One appearance of something, just because it was the most popular game in the series doesn't make it a staple, if you think of Final Fantasy, the first thing that comes into your mind is not Ruby or Emerald weapon its the more traditional things.

I disagree with you again. For example not all characters, monsters, and summons reoccur in every FF, they might skip a few titles before showing up again. Final Fantasy XIV in the other hand can have everything.

Ruby and Emerald can be stronger, and if done right, the devs can provide more content down the line. I don't want to be Fighting Ultima/Omega forever all the way up to lv99..

They may not appear in every one, but its the ones that are in the majority, right now, tell me how many FF games have no link to Crystals? how many have no links to the moon? how many have no kids in? how many have no summoners in? how many have no White Mages in?

The differance is what I am saying are reoccuring elements what you choose is elements from ONE game. We should have Blitzball thats a staple everyone has heard of it, or what about the Gardens from FFVIII who hasn't heard of them?

Imagine this: get a player who has played every FF game except 7, and ask them what they seen in all the games?
They would tell you:
Crystals
white mages
Black mages
Chocobos
moon
summons
ultima weapon

They wont mention ruby and such, because while they were "big" in 7, they have not been a recurring theme in all FF titles.
Therefore, it would be an excess to have all the weapons from FF7. If you dont wanna fight ultima all the way to 99, then then fight (they will probably add this at one point) Odin, Gilgamesh, etc.

It is really hard to come up with a way to politely address your post.

You just like the other guy is claiming just because it is in one Final Fantasy game that it will be considered excess in this game.. Well I have news for you and him.. We have Magiteks armor mounts incoming, we already have Materia attachments, (FF7)Meteor, a Gold Saucer casino area coming soon, and the list will keep getting bigger.

I think it's more because staples of a series generally mean it exists in more than 1 game, i.e Tonberries been around forever as has Chocobos and Omega. Ruby/Emerald for example only existed in FFVII for the most part. That's the only thing I can think of is what the person means by it.

Also, it's not like you were campaigning for JUST the Ruby, or Emerald weapon in FFVII...
