*looks at Hrothgar*
Someone on the dev team just does not like ears, huh?

Is it me or are we getting a lot of cash shop cosmetics of late with less in-game cosmetics?
not to mention the 2 unique expansion dungeon models, the brand new hairstyles, new pvp themed sets and trophy rewards, brand new crafted gearsets...
the amount of new unique stuff dropped considerably and I'm not sure how blinded one can be to ignore that fact. Heck the 89 dungeon cheaped out entirely and used the AF as rewards in it as well instead of an unique set as it usually is...
I had hoped to get at least 1 new hairstyle every expansion but alas, the only one was released for the item shop (and female only to boot)
I have very mixed feelings. I think it looks pretty good but I also don't think it really fits the setting. I probably would not have bothered investing in the game if, back in the days of ARR and HW, everyone was running around in modern day style streetwear. We've long since passed the point of no return, though.
It's also just one of many reasons as to why the game world does not feel very immersive to me. Though I was pleased to see that some of the upcoming MMO's are implementing season cycles to influence the world itself. I'll happily take that sort of thing over modern day clothing and burger joints.
well the person i replied to specifically said "cosmetics" which is why I mentioned the 4 already released cosmetic sets in game (and 1 upcoming) versus 2 released on mogstation in the same time frame
as far as recycling old models for dungeon drops goes that's really nothing new at this point
technically they've been recycling models since ARR
it's not as if we didn't get any unique sets in EW
83 dungeon, 85 dungeon, AF, moonward, limbo, 590/600 tome gear, aglaia, and alzaadaal's are all new sets
EDIT: and another plus for me so far with the unique sets from this expansion is that they are all immediately dyeable (or have a dyeable version already available)
not a dealbreaker for some but for me personally non-dyeable gear has almost no value for glamour (unless it happens to be the right color to fit with my pre-existing dyes)
It's not an excuse. It's a simple fact.
Another simple fact is that any and all of these styles are never obtained through the story. They're fun extras for fans who want something a little different. You have a plethora of options in-game that cost no money to obtain, yet here you are complaining about something that pops up once in a blue moon. What is your actual problem here? It's not the fact that this stuff doesn't fit in because it does.
There are looks in this game that I don't care for, but I'm not going to dump all over someone just because they enjoy looking different.
> This head gear will not be displayed when equipped by Hrothgar or Viera characters.
What's the point of charging people for something if all the items don't work properly for all races. Shouldn't the cost of designing it to work for all races off-set the initial cost of designing them? Man. Just. What the heck, Square. That's actually just... 22 bucks. 22 bloody flipping bucks and you couldn't even TRY.
Overpriced and I can't wear the hat
Debating getting this for my balmung althonestly.... but she's viera. The jacket and shoes look good on her tho. T.T
The cringe moogle / chocobo image on the back ruins it. Give me a logo-free version please.
Street Attire should've been a spinoff quest where the retired WoL tries to be a regular guy who's not recognized constantly, so Tataru makes you an outfit based on what she thinks "normal people" wear. It could've had a funny little side story associated with it, a happy little memory. Instead, it's 22 dollars. The Mameshiba mount, which released alongside this outfit, could've been a quest chain where you find an abandoned doggo and help him out, and then at the end he just becomes your traveling companion. Could've had a nice narrative connection to it. Instead, it's 24 dollars.
I know the ship's sailed, but I'll keep saying it. The content's delivered at a dripfeed pace every 4 months; the game itself is buy to play and subscription based. Meanwhile, these items cost a third of what an expansion costs, and people are buying them like crazy, but where does the money even go. Hroth/Viera still have issues. Housing is still a wreck. The PVE section is on fire with people begging for their jobs to be made fun again. Zero communication, lengthy waits for changes, but we can always count on some expensive mogstation set that could've been gameplay instead. I just think it's gross on principle, reminds me of the f2p cashgrab games I left. Stylistically, the outfits remind me of that roadtrip final fantasy game, in the sense that they feel like they don't belong at all. I know we already have stupid stuff that feels like it doesn't belong, but that's why this sort of thing is so bad imo. It just opens the door for more crap like this to appear in the future, and if you have an issue with it, well, "it's okay because that ship has sailed anyway." So imo on every level it's just bad and I wish it didn't exist.
Was going to buy it until I saw the moggle/chocobo art on the back of the jacket. Ruins the entire outfit.
Lol.
Lmao even.
FFXIV is going to be Square Enix's little piggy bank until the day it dies.
Cool more generic casual glams and catgirls wearing sneakers in a medieval fantasy game.
Cash shop bad, please applaud.
Seriously though, this has no place being an earnable in-game item, and having it behind the paywall was a good idea. I use parts of it for my Gunbreaker glamour, but I do think the shoes and gloves aren't the best.
Because they know full well they can get away with it.
For every one of us that steps away and decides enough is enough, several slavering whales that are far more willing to shell out hundreds to thousands of dollars on cosmetics, mounts, fantasias, orchestrion rolls, and even housing items will take our place.
Unless something drastic happens, something even larger in scale than the housing crisis, Hrothgar hair fiasco, disagreements with the story, and rampant class homogenization, they will continue to milk this game and it's community for all it's worth, consequences be damned.
Nobody's saying cash shop bad please clap, they're saying things like "why can't i use this gear on my race" or "why is it 22 dollars and locked to single-character only, not able to be placed in the armorie and not available from the calamity salvager if I accidentally lose a piece somehow" all of which is legitimate criticism.
I love it, but I do think the price tag is a little too excessive, especially taking into account other similar items (that also provide a hairstyle -- I don't think an additional chest piece warrants this)
I suppose on the other side of the coin it is good that these aren't gender-exclusive and both editions can be used regardless of whether male or female
Not the biggest fan of modern clothes continuing to dominate glamour releases, if I'm being honest. Then again at that price I suppose I should be thankful it's not something I'll ever care about buying...
Kupo, if you are worried about the price of a mog station item perhaps it is time to rethink priorities kupo <3
shoes are absolute garbage as usual ..(incredible how bad they are at footwear)
rest is a 4/10
will skip this set
Too expensive :x I mean it's a good deal in comparison to the rest of the stuff on the mogstation but all of it is so so expensive already.
Looks neat but the price is outrageous.
Huge pass. It's kinda ugly, I like the pants but that's it. Also, overpriced.
I don't like stuff that lean on being unisex too much. Give me girly stuff please(preferably not on the mogstation...)
it's very cool but viera's (and Hrothgar maybe?) cannot use the headgear so it's very (???)
if the next LL had a Q&A section I would shoot it a question about it.
I wouldn't change anything. I was surprised I got both tops, it makes me happy because I like both. :D
