No, having common sense makes you a white knight around these forums.

Hmmm "no trailer at E3 LOL @ SE" no mention that Yoshi said the game will be at E3, no mention of what could be shown, your thread is full of "FFXIV will not be at E3" especially if people have not read the letter, also check the whole letter thread, alot of people saying it will not be at E3, and "they are only going for interviews" and interviews could mean they will not set foot in the LA conferance center.
Yeah alot of people are saying they will not be there.
You pple need to give up on the false hopes. The only presence of 2.0 at E3 will be through interviews, artwork and MAYBE some screenshots. Do you seriously think they would have 2.0 on floor or a dev walkthough of 2.0 in gameplay? If all that was possible then what is the point of withdrawing a trailer?
Go all the way out there for interviews.. sounds like a wasted trip if you go by that logic...
A flood of information is 100 times better then some dinky trailer, at least then you can take the time to read everything about it. Are you honestly saying that you prefer it when a game company releases a trailer on a game and then makes you wait months til they actually put up a site with the information?
Watching a trailer for information means that you have to keep looking back at the video in order to fine comb through anything. At least with the site supposedly having a flood of information people should have an easier time looking through things of their interest rather then having to go to the 1 minute mark of the video to see something of their interest. I just wish they'd open the site before or at the start of E3 rather then at the end lol.
o_O Ok now, have you even look at the pdf, people make it sound like they just scrapped the trailer but they just decided to hold that card til later on, which is most likely because this trailer will spoil things that are still yet planned for 1.0. Oh yes it would be so much fun to release a trailer that pretty much spoils the conclusion to the seventh Umbral now wouldn't it lol. They release the trailer and then people will complaing about the spoilers in it XD Just wait til against and you'll be spoiled.

Why don't we all just channel our anger towards the fact they only released half the player poll, <_< screw if the translator gets tired couldn't you at least have given us the results on the classes lol.
o_O But ya I don't really get why people are getting so mad, originally their plan was to release a trailer and then information in stages. Now they are going to hold off on the trailer and release the information in one big flood.
Doing it this ways should guarantee that anyone who may be interested in the game will find at least one interesting thing about it in the information given. Releasing a trailer may spoil events that new players may decide to want to try out if they "read" the information rather then watch it. I mean seriously how many people have seen the trailers for the Avengers movies or even any movie for that matter. So many movie trailers end up spoiling so much without you even knowing it lol but the fact they show said things to entice you to go is pretty dumb.
In the same sense this 2.0 trailer will prolly have some scenes depicted for the conclusion of the story.
Also think of this from an actual PR point of view XIV had a trailer when it was first releaesed and then a site that released information in bits and pieces, while the site did look kinda nice the information didn't really tell you much about the game and said things that turned out to be empty promises and the trailer itself was nothing but CGI.
People who have gone to E3 before and have heard for XIV's first release would most likely think, oh look SE is releasing another trailer and site for XIV 2.0 prolly be the same bull as last time. However by saying, oh XIV is releasing a site which is planned to have a flood of information upon release will give people something to look through rather then repeatedly watching a trailer.
So ya, just be patient, one more week away, no 3 min trailer (big deal) but replaced with more information, let's just hope when the site goes live they'll have info on a lot of things maybe even new classes as well as the reform to DoL in 2.0
'Giving up false hops' sounds more like the people who are constantly negative about the game that continues to stick around for reasons unknown.
You tell people to "go back to school", how about you learn to read? The reason was stated, which is actually what a lot of companies have done these days, not specifically regarding E3 but withdrawing the release of information/trailers/demos for various reasons, usually regarding quality, you're flat out lying if you say you never heard of another company doing this.
FFXIV isn't on the SE page at www.e3expo.com, when someone brought this up weeks ago I was the first to dismiss it, but maybe that person had a point after all.
There is a big difference between the producer being their for interviews and small information and the game being shown at the SE conference or on the show room floor.
You mean like Capcom did with RE6 ?Quote:

It really depends how long the trailer is and how awesome it is, I can safely say that RE6 trailer was amazing and I don't even like RE any more lol, but it sold the game in a pretty effective way.
A trickle of information is just as good as a torrent as long as the information you are releasing is worth while.
I say again SHOW ME PROOF and I will believe you, tell me what a CGI trailer that has nothing to do with the game will do for the game, but gameplay (they have a working client in Tokyo, and just need to take it over) will do wonders for 2.0. Tell me what a CGI trailer will do for the game except make people say "oh look there trying to hype thier dead game"
Mentality of a fanboy.
No E3 trailer = Ton of gameplay footage, demon on floor with hands on.
Quote from the letter "the trailer itself was completed and ready for release at E3. But during our most recent global PR planning meeting, we came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle." = in a fanboy's mind:withdrawing the release of information/trailers/demos for various reasons, usually regarding quality.
Even tho' SE has never said anything of the sort.... thank you Elexia queen of specualtion and slef made facts.
I feel really betrayed. I have been waiting patiently for E3 specifically for the video release of 2.0. Now I have no need to watch it and all that built up hype just washed out of me and made me feel empty. Legacy almost doesn't seem worth it anymore.
Word of mouth, is actually more powerful then any media could bring.. 1 person leads to another person etc etc.. in due time Millions of people will know about it..If they don't do it at E3 so what? Word of Mouth Spreads like fire..
Trailer CGI or not = publicity, hype. E3 = the best place for a gaming company to promote their games.
Now show me where in his letter does he say there will be gameplay and demos at E3? pple called this weeks before the letter and now you still want to believe there will be something even bigger then a trailer at E3? Dude the game is not even on their official list.
Clearly stating it was finished and ready for E3 in reality means it wasn't finished and wasn't ready for E3.
Fanboys gonna be fanboys.
Oh and Elexia, I criticize many of SE's decisions but I don't stick around for "reasons unknown", I stick around because I like the game (and PLAY IT, probably a lot more than most of the white knights on here) and I want it to succeed. In fact, that's exactly why I am so critical of this decision.
Here's the thing: There's a difference between being critical than constantly negative to the point you do nothing but sit around and berate FFXIV/SE/People who play it. Being critical is looking at it objectively.
Common sense is a great thing to have, also not being sheltered you'd learn things about how the world works.
People can defend SE all they want...like it or not, not having a trailer at E3 is going to hurt it more then help.
I don't and i'm not making up facts. When i say something that is not based on what SE told us, i always make sure that is shows it's my personal opinion. I don't go around saying SE said something but actually means X and claim its a hard cold fact because I said so.
He went on an world trip a while back for interviews, I would say that going to one venue for multiple interviews makes much more sense than travelling around the world and doing small interviews in different countries... wouldn't you ?
Hahaha .. I guess thats why News Papers and the internet exist ..
Trailer= Gamescom ( another big Convention that's right there along with E3). Gamescom is in August, Alot people attend that Convention.. People say its a quite month (maybe in USA yeah) but not in Europe.. and when new info comes in, they have interviewers there.. their will be Youtube vids about FFXIV 2.0 in August.. Everyone WILL see it..
My point exactly. You're not looking at anything objectively when you state the exact opposite of what was written in the letter.
And not being a condescending is just as helpful, since no one will take you seriously if all you do is speak with a holier than thou attitude.
I agree with you. A sucky trailer would have gotten pple to complain... , yet at least pple would be talking about it. But to be honest the only pple who would have complained would have been us, not the pple that don't play or never seen XIV, who are the pple i thought SE was trying to get.
There's also more than one office in multiple areas, which is why he tends to travel. Most companies don't travel to a lot of countries for interviews (rather the interviewers travel to them) because said company tend to only have 1 headquarters and not even multiple branches unless they're made up of many smaller companies or big enough to, SE is one of the handful of companies that has branches in more than 2 countries.
Trailers are designed for hype nothing more, some quotes from mmorpg forums (only one I could be bothered to look through)
Shows that changes get attention, not trailers.Quote:
Thanks for all the info!, I wasnt so sure if I would play this again but with the things they have added it sure has got my attention again. Thanks again for the info.
Shows how some people who aren't playing see the game (even if they have not tried it since release)Quote:
You can expect a very boring game, possibly a little regret for impulse buying.
Shows that even after the Welcome back campaign people who are keeping up with the game, know there are still huge problems with the game.Quote:
I agree, I returned for the free week and the game is still not ready for release. At least they are taking some time on the relaunch, its not due until the end of the year.
At the moment the game doesnt deserve more than a mediocre score just because combat and the UI is so terrible, which is a shame because the graphics and world are amazing.
Yes I know that this is the views of the minoroty, but post me to something that will make hype benificial for the game, right now it will be Final Fantasy XIV trailer coming up, "wtf people are still playing that failure of a game" but showing changes will draw everyone's attention, and hype the game alot more than a trailer that shows nothing of the game.
