Why did prices of our wheat and flour based products shoot up over the summer? Because the surplus wheat US farmers grow helping to keep domestic prices low was being sent overseas to replace the wheat no longer being grown in the Ukraine, which was a major exporter to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Why has the semi-conductor shortage been prolonged? Because the Ukraine produced 70% of the world's neon, vital to semi-conductor production, and those plants stopped operating because of the war.
There are of course other things the Ukraine was producing that are no longer being produced, forcing manufacturers to seek alternate sources. Most of the impact of the latter is felt regionally but the two specific ones mentioned have had a global impact. Disrupted supply chains lead to disrupted lives as companies go out of business or have to downsize, laying off workers. Prices on popular consumer goods rise, making it harder for those already on tight budgets.
You may not see a direct impact for yourself (though you have been affected whether you think so or not) but others are.
