Would you still play FFXIV if SE forced Yoshida to add NFTs? Be honest.

I'm already very close to just ditching the game.

I'd just move to the next MMO that doesn't have 'em or wait and see if people would break the tos like on other MMOs and set up some third party... alternative place to play.

Not that I would encourage anyone to do so. It'd be a good way to get in trouble.

If they added NFTs and they provided some sort of advantage or a "better" XIV experience, I would quit.
If they added them and they didn't really effect the game, then I'd probably stay but would probably list it as a reason if/when I do leave over some of the other issues that don't get addressed (plus boredom).

Sounds like RMT with an SE stamp to me. It would be the death of an MMO like this. Imagine what you could sell on the chain for quick cash:
-You could sell rare Triple Triad Card
-You could sell Ultimate Raid drops
-You could sell housing plots
-Mounts
-Minions
-Crafted items

For me Endwalker would have been where the game ended and I would drop sub. Wont be immediately since I pay my sub in 6 month installments.

There's a ton more obvious and acceptable things they could do before adding NFTs to the game anyway. Adding the optional cash store to the game client is the first as that just makes it more visible/accessible. Next up would be an FFXIV Token like the WoW Token so players can either buy Gil or spend their Gil for subscription/store credit (to buy cash store items).

I wouldn't quit if they did either of the things above. NFT and Blockchain stuff just has a much harder path to add into this game whereas they can do what other MMOs have already done if they wanted to milk the game for more money.

I would but there are so many people for rally for a company of all things for my money not to matter. At this point i'm treating XIV as another WoW/EQ2/EQoA, just enjoying it until they cross that line and then I move on, simple as that. No need to lament for rotting IPs, your sanity will thank you, lol.

I understood that NFTs meant to be uniquely owned... It would be pretty hard to make that work with the structure of XIV nowadays, because it would mean they would design mogstation items to one (or a limited?) number of owners. Can you imagine having a number of armor sets downloaded to your client but only 1 person can be seen using it?

Given what NFTs are and that they're basically collectibles then I'm not entirely sure how they would use them to be profitable. They could have some things in the Mogstation that are super expensive and only a limited number of people could buy for some in-game items but they already do that with physical music, plushes, statues, etc. So there's a tangible physical item to justify the price. And even then a lot of people think those items are overpriced. I can only imagine what would happen if they tried to make it just some digital item.

One of things that is attractive about the Mogstation is that anyone can go buy the items so they keep making profit. Yes, I'm sure there will be some whales who want that exclusive glamour or mount or minion nobody else can ever have, but there's still a limited amount SE could sell so they'd forever be cutting into any potential profit and may or may not make their time expenditure back on creating that glamour or mount or minion.

The other thing about NFTs is that they involve ownership. But we don't own anything in game. Kolsykol had a decent idea that they could be used as a flag that you have an item in the game but given how current NFTs are all about digital ownership, that seems like it would be a murky legal area. Then there's the aspect of reselling NFTs. If someone who owned that exclusive glamour wanted to sell the rights to use it to someone else, how would that work? And if SE didn't allow it, then could they be sued?

Finally there's the payment aspect. If they wanted to make NFTs seamless with something like the Mogstation, they'd have to put in interfacing with some sort of cryptocurrency platform so we could still use our same payment methods or if they wanted to be lazy we'd have to set up our own accounts and link them but now SE has that headache to deal with.

I don't feel like there's any way they could implement NFTs in this game in more than some sort of cosmetic application that they'd probably take a loss on. If they did find a way to make gameplay related to it, then I would definitely quit. So long as they're no more relative than exclusive Mogstation items, then I wouldn't quit.

I don't honestly care if they add optional NFTs, ABCs, XYZs or more Park's sausages (mom, please).

NFTs seem all the rage right now; some people have money to burn and not many of us are very logical. Companies drool when they see this situation.

So be it. I already ignore the paid items in the shops; if there were NFTs there too why would I care?

Also, if anyone wants to pay me $50, I'll hand-write a publicly available note that says you own the following part of this post:

Just that part, right there ^^^. I can't put the proof in the blockchain, but that's why it's only 50 bucks. Otherwise it'd be $500.

I highly doubt YP would be okay with this. He seems like the more sensible man out of all the Executive Officers in SE, and he's also in the Creative Business Unit. He would probably fight with all his might, tooth and nail to not let this happen.

I'm sure if someone posted a question about this to him when they start offering in the forums, we might get an answer.

Even tho it's a troll thread, yes i would still play the game. No i wouldn't participate in the NFT part of it as long as that part isn't mandatory. If it is, goodbye game.

The NFTs are a sort of a certificate, that a certain digital asset is your property. If you sell the NFT then you also sell the digital asset. In the theory it sounds good. But the NFTs can be stolen, you can create multiple NFTs of one digital asset. You can also create NFTs based on stolen digital assets and sell them etc. This whole thing is highly problematic.

I keep hearing about them, but I have no experience WITH them.

Are they as bad as they sound? Are they as good as they are advertised?
Do they enhance or or ruin the experience?...I keep hearing both sides...but I have no experience in what it is like.

NFTs are just unique TF2 hats that can be freely sold to other people. A good example would be if SE introduced outdoor flags with a unique something or another (a picture on said flag, a unique particle effect, it's RED!, ect.) on the mogstation and let everyone know that there are only 100 RED flags and 50 flags with unique pictures and a single flag that glows orange! They sell you one with a ticket with a unique string of characters letting everyone know that you own said flag. From there you can go on e-bay or some website that lets you sell NFTs, or, you know, just keep it. Now I know what you are thinking, "Well if it's just like virtual ownership then how is it different from my standard SE account that lets me log on the game?" and the answer to that is th-
