it must be the same thing i had with shikigami weapon in XI, i killed that damn thing 38 times and nothing dropped even thou the droprate was 30%, sometimes you just have bad luck

what would you do otherwise than a percent based system, one weapon a run you can choose? then the fight would get obsolete in hours for the majority of the playerbase, or they have to make it very hard and players get scared (which seems to be the case with garuda lol)

Strange that there's barely a mention of the crafting and gathering systems throughout the review considering how integral they are to the game.

I think it was right on target. the good, and the bad. but esp. the problems with the instanced dungeons.

I disagree with his Poor rating for sound, I would give the music at the min a 80/100 but that is subjective and depends on what you like. I think the game outside a few tracks has a good soundtrack.

Besides that the review is highly accurate in my views. The game has made massive progress going from a game with a score of complete crap to a score of average. They keep adding content and fixing things and get a server structure that works I can easily see another 10 points being added to that score.

Game still has major issues but it is no longer a bad game, I agree with the 75 score.

I only just started playing and I'm definitely having fun! I'm finding it a little hard to get to grip with a few things, but after asking around I've made steady progress. The only thing holding the game back for me are the maps, but 2.0 will be fixing that soon, so I'm happy there. Music also seems alright, there are some really nice tracks in the game, and updates keep adding more. I can't wait to see how the game will continue to evolve, and I definitely think now was a good time to pick it up and give it a go.

Just read this review. IMO it is a fair and objective assessment of the game as it now stands. The reviewers comments on the end-game situation reflect many of the concerns aired by the current population. Ratings appear to accurate. On the whole a positive response to the efforts made by the Dev Team. Kudos to you all.

I happened to be in a shell on XI that camped Shiki at every single spawn, appropriately named "ShikigamiWeapon". I personally had never seen the robe not drop more than like twice in a row, and usually it was Drop >>> no drop >>> drop >>> rinse & repeat. The drop rate for the robe was pretty decent, but the respawn (like most nms in that game) was absolutely sheer ridiculousness.

As for the drop system in this game, I've already given my opinion on what could be done so for the sake of brevity I'll sum it up. Tokens, higher drops in dungeons with increased cooldown (say an hour or so instead of 10 or 15 minutes, guaranteed "lesser drops" that are at least somewhat decent, or some kind of guaranteed reward system for the work you put in between "rare drops". 3,000~ Gil and a couple pieces of dark matter are not a reward, they're a slap in the face.

Wow, that may well be the first Fair and Accurate review of FFXIV I've ever seen.
