What people expect from this housing blunder.

Obviously you aren't a developer in any regard. No matter how easy a system is on the surface, you can't always account for every single bug that can occur from it. Even if you test it in a private environment, implementation on live servers can still cause issues. It's the same reason why you get Windows updates but, said updates could cause various units to malfunction around the world. Doesn't mean the overall update wasn't tested well enough. Dev 101, and literally a case for every company everywhere.

Didn't even know the lottery system couldn't even do the basic thing of refunding people their own gil. This system is even more of a joke than I previously thought.

I'm not a developer, but if the most basic feature of the lottery fails 80% of the time, to the layman like me, it is pretty apparent it wasn't tested well enough. This isn't only affecting a small portion of people, this is most people, it is hard to just write it up as a simple glitch. im sure being a dev is a very hard job, but if a new feature that has been hyped up for a year just doesn't work, customers are gonna think there was no QA. And it sure seems like it to me.

Lotto update 3 should be on lodestone soon they've posted it in Japan. They seem to have identified the bug but it will need server testing. They will not roll back the lottery but will reroll those who got a 0 number. A worldwide maintenance it coming soon. Also it appears that those who took refunds will still be included in the reroll.

Please provide the data that states 80% of plots have had this issue occur. Unless you work for SE, pretty sure this is pure conjecture. I know people in my FC who have gotten plots with the lottery system so obviously it does work, when it works.
Either way, this is obviously an intermittent issue on specific plots and it's why they mentioned in their notice they need to compare logs on different plots to better understand what happened in the cases where these bugs occurred.

Yeah, a lot of people didn't realize that there was a bug to begin with, the system just outright denied them the plot. Does this mean that people are going to get millions randomly deducted from their pockets? Will there be an Ishgardian Debt? xD

I get that it doesn't sound very fair that people got to pay for houses while others didn't, but at the same time it's not exactly people's fault either that the only option available to them was "You lost to the literal void, want your money back?"

It's just funny to see that this is something they need to consider xD I don't mind it if they ask me to pay a debt, I still have the refund with my character. But what about other people that don't? It's bizarre.

I think people know. Look, as angry as people have gotten the past few weeks, it hasn't come anywhere near close to the ridiculous death threats the JP portion of the community. Nor does it mean we should stoop that low either.

But I think for the most part we do know. It's just that 6.1 has been having a lot of noticeable issues, and people are wondering what's going on? Is someone on the other end not doing a good job? Is QA not a thing, or too lenient now? And some excuses just don't really add up either. And as consumers we should be asking questions and ask for them to be either accountable or at least responsible. And when people see stuff reminiscent of other companies that have gone downhill, it makes it hard for trust to be earned.

This topic seems like it's taking everyone for a loop. I haven't seen the dev team be this much at a lost since ever. I wasn't around for 1.0 or ARR itself, only HSW. But usually when stuff does happen they try to be fair, so... guess we'll wait and see for update #4? At least now we know one thing: Those who got a house got it fair and square, without anyone being screwed over necessarily. And there will be a rollback for people who didn't get theirs. Issue is the players who already got a refund like myself, who are still innocent despite it all since there wasn't really much we could do. Most of us weren't even aware there was a bug until it was too late.

When a system can only be described as only working when it does work, that is pretty shocking kek. While the 80% is not the numerically correct percentage (I'll be surprised if square even knows to be honest), it is pretty clear that it has affected a significant portion of people, no two ways around it. If I buy a new phone, and it “only works when it works”, I'm gonna be pretty peeved. If I buy a gun that only shoots bullets when it feels like it, I'm gonna be pretty peeved. Same thing here really, it's not a strange concept to most people.

Truth be told, I don't give a fuck what goes on behind the scenes. When I buy product, I want product to work. I think this goes for most people. This isnt a fan project powered by pure passion, this is a mega Corp. When I get promised something for a year, I want that thing to not be a complete embarrassment. Perhaps I am too much of a traditionalist in that sense. But such a collosal failure doesn't make me keen on giving them the benefit of the doubt.
