I wonder how Menphina looks like. Can't wait to kill her
I cannot help but wonder if the localization team is going to make a joke with the naming of Thal's attack where he drops explosive orbs of magic on the arena...given a certain popular Eorzean exclamation.
it seems safe to assume we're getting the Twelve in the order of their elemental association according to the excerpt from Essences and Permutations
Quote:
The spark of Lightning ignites when it strikes, and thus Fire is born.
The heat of Fire renders to ash all that it touches, and thus earth is born.
The density of Earth shuns Sun and harbors cold, and thus Ice is born.
The armor of Ice melts away, and thus water is born.
The moistness of Water mists and rises, and thus Wind is born.
The gusts and sighs of Wind gather the clouds, and thus Lightning is born.
Thinking about how Byregot is the patron of crafting makes me wonder if he'll have a mechanic where he straight up starts crafting.
Like, he kneels down, pop out whatever crafting tool and *CRAFTING INTENSIFIES*.
Also, guess Godbert truly honors Byregot. Both in body and craft.
I wonder where they Salvaged the assets of the new dungeon from...
twelve huh......
Wonder if we'll get thordan style fight in the end
Nice to see hardly any healer changes and lots of dps changes. I guess that’s what happens though when you kick out your only healer tester because they were too good at their job.
I liked that in the trailer, Derplander was shown to be some of his different jobs throughout the expansions. He was PLD through most of it, but I saw he was SAM in the role quests, WAR in the Alliance Raid, and DRG in the 2.0 Duty system. Didn't see MNK or DRK, but I'm pretty sure they're in there somewhere.
In an interview, he mentioned that the healer they play tested new dungeons with got too good at healing them, so they needed to replace them for somebody lower skilled to properly see how the dungeons work with lower skilled healers. Paraphrased by me, their previous healer hit Savage level, and they needed a DF level healer.
That's a reasonable reason to swap someone out. Doing QC testing with someone who's in the top 2% of players isn't representative, so having someone less skilled or new to the role is a better option. I'm in R&D and when I need to test something late-game I'll ask someone here who hasn't worked on the project to get an idea how the first time or average user does instead of someone on my team who's very familiar with the thing.
That is a good mindset to have. Testing with high-end players only is a good way to lose perspective for newer players.
So with that in mind, why is Yoshi, an orange parsing Black Mage, not a detriment to the testing team? **whisper whisper** it's because he's a DPS, the only role Square cares about.
I'm pretty excited about the new PvP system and its rewards. I'll definitely be grinding that out asap. And the Garo event making its return with rewards for the jobs added since the last time it came around is wonderful. The new Alliance raid looks like it'll be neat and the gear doesn't look half bad. Not going to lie though, I actually feel insulted by their choices for Hrothgar hair additions. Seriously, why any of those? If the Bozja hairstyle had made the cut I'd be willing to let the rest of them slide.
Im so happy i picked Azeyma as my patron~
Thanks XIV Team :v
I wonder if we really just get there to just kill these "gods". IMO I would like it more if these fights are just tests of our strenght and that it does not come down to just killing things again.
While I'm excited about the new content, I wish the dev team would have at least one person main ninja so I don't have to relearn this job over and over because they keep making big changes.
That makes a lot of sense.
however, how does that logic apply here since that would pre-suppose that the healer being replaced had been someone who had completed Ultimate level content, and unless I'm mistaken, they fell into the much more common category of players who had completed Extreme level content?
Let alone the logic of seemingly having such a small pool of testers at SE, or not having dedicated designers for each job.. wait..that wouldn't be connected, would it?
Cant wait to see whats the dungeon gears and weapons looks like! Also, im excited we be getting a NieR Automata Pod as a mount xD
What's goin on with Ninja this time?
Guess I have to actually put Living Dead back on my bar now. It's always been such a risk that I never bothered with it unless running with a full premade group of people I trust.
Looks like I'll be doing some PVP too. There's only a handful of Garo pieces I want, so that shouldn't take too long.
Was that an Ultros reskin?
Having brought almost all jobs to 90, dragoon for me is the most chill and relaxed of them. In not little due to lack of random combo triggers and the long multi button rotation, that is really like an endless seamless moving circle. In contrast to jobs like bard with their random combos you have to deal with or black mage which has you counting it's attacks or summoner with it's buttons all doing the same but not and especially not PVP dragoon's "no clue where in the rotation I am or what comes next because that one finger now has formed a habit of hitting that one button over and over and over and it's not like I can see the path through my complete rotation anyway". Even the button stacking works well, because it's not interrupting the infinity sign dragoon has for it's rotation.
Calysto was most likely pointing to FFXI's Salvage battle system. The whole underwater and swamp area look like it could have sprung from the various Treasures of At Urghan zones. Let's see what they do with this and if you can watch several kraken crawling along the underwater windows.
What part of GL did you have to manage? It boiled down to do the 1-2-3 you do anyways until getting any time cutscene or RP kicked in and you had to take a big L. Last time I checked, MNK players HATED old Greased Lightning. From all things MNK had to manage, that mechanic wasn't one of them.
Technically, you still die at the same time. And depending on the potency of the heals, you might even die sooner in some multihit tankbuster scenario if you clear Walking Dead too soon with the added self heal plus healer's help.
