I guess the answer is, once the devs realized they could hotfix the Gardua non-Aerial Blast phase, they had more power than they ever thought possible. They're mad, now, and must only be stopped by starting an event that is easily ignored if you already know all the pictures and realize that it will either bring hype to those who don't know and won't have any impact on anything you're doing in-game right now.

Are there going to be people who complain when E3 comes around and SE shows off a lot of the stuff in the 2.0 design documents that we already saw on the sidebar of the Lodestone?

I hate to be the one to break it to you but FFXIV forum posters really honestly swear-to-the-Twelve have that much of an entitlement complex! Believe it.

I see what you're trying to say, but the situation wont be that, they will be "here is our new 2.0" and they have a trailer, that will be first, be the eye candy, and so on. So we will of got something NEW.

Then the document be "this is some concept art for 2.0" not "WE JUST MADE THIS LAST NIGHT FOR THIS VERY MOMENT, ITS BRAND NEW BRO!"

Notice the difference? One is simple, other is bullshit.

I am just going to assume the people who are not bothered by being lied to either are lied to on a daily basis and thus have lost their sense of dignity, or lie to others on a daily basis and have lost their sense of honor.

If I told you a super awesome mega boss was being released next patch and it was just another moogle-style boss but with Giant Marmots then that would be a troll. SE was making a little fun event for us " weather they had misuse of words or not" and some people get all worked up over a puzzle game that SE is trying to have fun with the community..

This whole "being lied too" deal and the people think other people that don't care about getting lied too must of a lose of dignity. Well, let me point out something here, I don't like being lied too.. and I get pretty ticked off when one person lies to me about something.

However, I can tell that SE was just trying to have a little fun with the community ( New or not so new Concept art) I can care less how they worded it at this point.. because I know they were just trying to have some fun with us as a community. At least I can see their intentions on this event.. but I keep on forgetting this is NA FFXIV forums..

I hate to join with the whiners on this one, but I have to agree that posting 1.0 art (from the CE) and pawning it off as something new and/or exclusive to 2.0 is a bit cheap.

yeah, yeah.. the behemoth wont be in the game until 2.0 -- but it was originally created and planned for 1.0, and that makes it old.

I find it hard to believe that they didn't have any genuine new 2.0 art to show us... :(

So SE doesnt have any concept art that none of us have seen before? would it really hurt to give us something complety new and original thats not in the CE artwork or the 2.0 pdf document. I will just wait for the E3 trailer.

On a side note, this made me look through the concept art notebook again, and I noticed that there are many pictures of areas not in the game yet. Like a mushroom forest, a dungeon and what looks like another city/village in the woods. Wonder if we'll see any of that stuff.

It also made me realise how much more pretty and unique the city-states looked in their concept art.:(

This is staggering. If I was in FFXIII, I would be 999% staggered.

While finding out that the picture is of the CE artbook Behemoth is deflating towards my looking forward to the contest (for the NA version, at least), it's... not going to matter. I'll get home from work and log in and do some levelling/beastmen strongholds with my LS, do a few sidequests, craft, go to bed... it's not going to matter. Images on a page.

If they said a new fight was coming out, and it just ended up being Ifrit move-for-move and strat-for-strat, yeah, let's raise the pikes and call for some heads. But this is, y'know, nothing near that.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone checked to see if the Japanese version of the event says that they are revealing all-new art? It would not be the first time that the English localization team added flare to the text without knowing the whole story. It's entirely possible that the English event does contain all-new artwork.

A lie is a lie, you can dress it up any which way you like but it ont change the fact that it's a lie. This is not even a "little white lie" that you tell your kids to avoid having to get into some overly complicated story involving things they shouldn't know about. This is a flat out lie that does not have any justification. If SE truly "painstakingly procured NEW content artwork" then they would have done just that, posted new pictures of content never before seen. This not yet being the case, SE could have just said "hey mystery event, we're gunna post some unreleased content images that you may or may not have already seen in the past" and no one would have given a rats tail.

The fact is that the excitement and "hype" is generated by posting never before seen images and not images easily viewed on the internet. That is what this event is supposed to be: new images to produce renewed interest, and unfortuneately the first image has completely backfired despite the enthousiastic response to the question.

That's not the point though, now is it? This thread is all about the injustice of SE's lying to the players. I have merely suggested someone check the actual event in question (the JP event that is) before claiming that they have lied. The wording of the event implicitly says that each event is separate. Meaning the description of one language cannot in good conscience be applied to the other languages' events.
