Easy to say this when you aren't affected by the limitation. Why are you even here if not to piss people off?
It’s a low priority because people like you can’t relate to the issue and keep acting like it’s a minor thing. People like you are instead demanding butt sliders and playable ivalician moogles while Viera keep getting pushed to the back because high demand keeps winning. You’re apart of the problem.
instead of people demanding they fix the Viera situation over 2 years ago, people instead were demanding the gender counterpart.
Play either Viera or Hrothgar for 2+ years THEN you have a right to tell us hats and hair doesn’t matter. Don’t play a race that gets everything and say otherwise because that’s just not valid.
The only saving grace is these headpieces don't look very good, but yeah viera/hrothgar shouldn't be left out of a portion of seasonal event rewards.
Honestly, this far on with Viera and Hrothgar being a thing, it's really surprising they haven't ensured more of the newer head gears work with them. It definitely shouldn't still be happening. At least not in the large quantities that is is happening. As has been proven by other gear, a lot of the older stuff hid/let ears/horns clip through. While it isn't an ideal solution, doing it that way would be a "band-aid on the dam" temporary solution until they can get things properly fitted.
To be fair, even if they don't play a viera/hroth, they are allowed to have an opinion on whether or not they feel it's worth developer time. Some people don't overly care for glams/character options, and that's all fine and dandy.
As far as people pushing for missing genders first over hair/hats, I'm OK with that personally as I feel like missing genders is/was the bigger offense. When ARR launched, they made a point to add (f)Roeg, (f)Highlanders and (m)Miqo'te which were all missing from 1.0, but then they backpedaled something fierce when it came to buns and catdaddies. With that said, I'm still of the opinion that neither race should have launched with restrictions at all.
These hats are ugly as sin imo but I still agree do have a like lmao
The graphs are not conclusive since they don't take into account the players that were one of the limited races and then switched back. My FC alone has a few but that's just anecdotal. Either way, viera and hrothgar are in a sorry state.
Although I expected this with the event, it was still a little disappointing to see that they didn't spend a little time or thought into perhaps adding some additional rewards to the NPC.
Seeing that the only rewards for this event are head glams that a portion of their players, through no fault of their own, cannot wear. Albeit ugly head glams that I would never wear anyway. But still a little thought could have gone into the rewards adding some additional choices. Even if it was something minor like fireworks or confetti. LOL
But also moving forward to still be adding new head gear that is not visible on certain races seems to be a little disappointing.
But if the Viera and Hrothgar were to suggest we get something else as compensation for our already limited race, other races would (and have done) throw a fit and demand the things we suggest. It's such a double standard thing and I have no issue calling people out for it because it's such a child-like mentality. Allegedly, the developers said that gradually they would release more race-specific hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar due to their uniqueness but we didn't even get that.
I don't think so, SE basically created more work for themselves by doing that. Surely the sensible thing to do would be to focus on the already-existing races before implementing the gender counterparts with the exact same issues. SE even said a few times that both Viera and Hrothgar are apparently 'unique races' but they never have the time to put the work into actually improving them. They're giving us breadcrumbs and taking their time with it.
In Endwalker we received 6 hairstyles that were probably the easiest to bring in that barely anyone wears, if you look around majority are still wearing their race exclusive hairstyles and that speaks volumes. The developers are not really giving me much faith in their abilities because I barely even have a shred of optimism about what's to come in 6.1 for Hrothgar. You are very right though, neither races should have been brought in with such severe restrictions and especially not when the developers didn't have a plan.. It's all up in the air and it's unprofessional.
I can get your point on other events but Heavensturn is ALWAYS ugly ass helmets that hardly anyone wears except for niche situations.
Eh they were just like "If you're going to give us hats" and I wanted it to be clear this particular event is *always* hats that gather dust in our Armoires.
I do agree on the point about other events where the reward is specifically made a hat when it could be something else, though.
I'm not saying OP is right, but I can't trust XIVCensus in general since it currently only shows about 6.1 million total characters, and their criteria for "active" is questionable.
Besides that, OP obviously meant a fourth of the playable races. The Playerbase loves to insert the word "playerbase" to make their statement seem significant without considering what they are actually saying by doing so. :D
I mean he is right that those hats, being the primary reward for this event for several years should be usable by everyone.
Well i am 1 of those new players and i must say that character customisation was one of the features i looked forward to when starting to play ff14. I did made a Viera female cause i found they looked awesome but i became really sad once i noticed the severe limitations. It gets kind of boring switching between the like 4 pieces of headwear i gathered so far i can wear. To make matters worse some potential headgear like the Royal crown for ex. are job specific, so i can wear it as a sch but not as a sum !? Found the logic in that aspect much better in WoW were as a clothie you could mog all cloth, plate all plate etc ... As a compensation for the lack of hairstyles/hats i don't see why the devs won't make a special vendor were we could get all kinds of usable headwear instead of adapting the old content ones or something. But seeing how this issue is not getting fixed even in the future i am really starting to consider using 1 of the 2 fantasias i gathered while questing to change to a Miqo'te or a human. I would miss my Viera but at least i would have solved a problem that isn't getting solved

I can understand not wanting to take up dev resources to fix all the old helmets to work on viera and hrothgar but I'll never understand why they don't make all the helmets that they created after ShB work with them. They took the time to make some work but not all of them?
The issue is usualy down to management, catering 85% of the players at a 100% cost, vs catering 100% of the players at a 125% cost usualy makes managers choose for the lower since it on paper already sounds good. They ignore the fact that 15% of the players however are repeatedly being ignored, as that is a stat they do not care about. The only stat on that they would care about is the amount of negativity on social media about the issue, which in this case is still far too low to realy be noticed.
