Does anyone have the link to the dev post where it was said that haste would not be added? Been searching for a while now and can only find players stating it won't be in, not devs...
Release of a "mannequin" system for one-touch changing of gear sets.
Gear equipped to mannequins will not take up inventory space.
Mannequins available can be increased via certain quests and battle content.
http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Content_EN.pdf
Looking at XI, SE never made gear swapping a worthwhile addition. They never specifically added anything to help gear swapping in a 10 year period.
As a player that switches the gear needed before going into a fight, your stab/comment at another player wearing AF fulltime is irrelevant. XI and other MMO devs limit gear swapping while engaged/hate in general as its not a worthwhile mechanic.
I think they said benchmark would be around just after E3.
A French Community dev said that armour and weapons equipped to a Mannequin will still take up inventory space.
So either the community dev got it wrong, Yoshi changes his mind or there was an error in translation somewhere.
Gear swaps won't happen. SE doesn't want them. Search for the term gear swap and you'll find plenty of reasons why it should never happen.
Vastly lowered leveling speed with better paced leveling content
More open world content, including dungeons, bosses, and more unique gathering elements
A continued focus on party oriented content
Far more interesting world design, with a larger focus and incentive on exploring it as opposed to instant travel methods
Return of a debuff class
Continued use of situational/side grade equipment (Am I the only one who really likes the class exclusive equipment? Adds a nice touch of variety to character building and party formations. Hope they continue to make more like it in the future)
i was wanking on my willie and got CHEESE!
i want gear swaps, utsusemi and something else but forgot.
HNM's,
see thread in my sig if you would like the same. Dev's already shed some light in there.

This. Garuda was a fun fight for the first... 5 or so wins. As were the other primals. As were the current dungeons...
I'm no expert on game fun, just something to keep me actively engaged, or at least once a day I can go "WOW THIS FUN".
Said many times: netcode. Proper netcode could make this game experience so nice since I seem to have a great path to the Japanese-based servers. And of course position updates. Nothing sucks more than being behind a rock and whoosh, why am I dead. Don't have 20ms response time? Eat Eruption.
Lalafell females to have some form of a chest (nothing extreme). Just something to really have them stand-out from male Lalafell.
Job-balancing. I want to be a Dragoon. But why would I actually do it? Black Mage is more efficient in everything. Sure, I -CAN- be a Dragoon and still get that win/speedrun. But when I can go Warrior to hamlet defense and do double, or more, damage than Dragoon or fight Coincounter and do so much more damage, while being safe, on Black Mage; what incentive do I have besides "fun"? Maybe I'm just too much of an elitist with a hard-on for top-DPS on this point ;/
Viable, or time-worthy/actually has items worth getting, low-man content. Sometimes I don't want to run with 7 other buffoons. Maybe just 3 other noobs like myself. Content properly scaled for lower groups would be nice.
And finally, one I'm sure will never happen and many others do not wish: Different Miqo'te ears. Seriously the ears are pretty lame and look messed up. I want some "traditional" nekomimi mode going on.
LS message, more trading, Skillchains or revamped BR, delivery system, CRAFTING SIGNATURES yesplz
Better loot system (or make need before greed actually work), mandragoras, real dragons (with wings), fun content, large-scale location defense (what hamlet should have been), better search, more auto-translate, mailbox system, AH.
Open world HNMs that don't pop 5 minutes after you kill them or i'm out.
So you can then complain about how everything is so lagtastic?
And were borked by latency and lag for anything more complex than a two-part skillchain. A case of "works in a single-player FF but not so much in an MMO".Quote:
Skill Chains were not done individually, but by collective interaction.
My wish list:
- Gear lock being implemented in all dungeons and boss fights
- Fencer
- Red Mage
- Soul of the Red Mage corresponding to Fencer
- More dungeons
- Regular and "Heroic" modes to give people at the level cap a greater array of dungeons to run
- Abolishment of speed runs and replacing them with some sort of other mode/goal to challenge those who want to go the extra mile
- Tanking equality between PLD and WAR
- Additional DPS, healer and tank jobs/classes
- Group Finder/Content Finder
- A companion system influenced by FFXI's adventuring fellow with some TOR companion system sprinkled on top
- Appearance tab/vanity slots/transmogrification
- A better keyboard+mouse control scheme
- Better response time between input commands and the server
- Jumping
You're being too vague. The fights have mechanics. You enter the fight and do stuff and respond accordingly to the mechanics and win. I can grant you that doing the same encounter over and over can get boring to some (as I love both the act of raiding as well as the loot that comes from it, I'm wasn't the type that got sick of running Naxxrammas or Ulduar over and over), but I don't know what you actually mean by "fun".
Being able to use mounts in town.
New dungeons & instances... not just in caves, partly outside..
an instance can also play in an old ruin, at the beach, within a city etc. pp. Fighting against garleans etc. pp.
Ah, something forgotten in my post:
Removal of speed running mechanic for dungeons, replaced with other means of acquiring loot (I really do like having additional goals/challenges, but speed running feels like the least inspired way to implement them, as well as encouraging class stacking and rushing. I would love more along the lines of killing princess before marshal, etc)
These are some of the things I find absolutely crucial:
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE in Story Content. I'm not talking about a wall of text NPC either. I want cut-scenes with our mighty leader Raubahn, the sneaky fabulous detective Hildibrand, or even some damsel in distress. Wall of Texts are crap, please save them for the hideous Korean MMOs. Final Fantasy's staple is heavy story content. Tiered arching of quests, and an increase of length in quests undertaken. Better rewards as well.
Increase in Party Based play both inside Story content, and Battle Content.
Introduction of level cap on story content, and instanced raids.
Increase in difficulty for...well.....everything?
Area's that need to be unlocked by participating in Story Content (such as Sky or Sea from FFXI). I hear about those floating lakes of Voor Sian Siran. That sounds awesome, implement them.
The return of satisfaction from participation in the content of the game.
Lowering of level speed by decreasing experiences points earned, and increasing monster difficulty, HP, and AI. Player Leveling needs to be delegated to a healing role outside of the party only.
More open world content, as well as the introduction of new instanced raids that doesn't require a 20 year process for a 1% chest drop rate. The removal of speed runs in favor of other conditions.
Varied and unique zones that I want to explore.
Introduction of new achievements to categories lacking such as "Currency" and "Items." Why not actually add achievements for having Gil? or adding an achievement for obtaining all Ifrit/Moogle/Garuda weapons?
The implementation of titles for special quests, NMs, and other various content. Titles unlock automatically.
Complete overhaul of the monotonous sham they call a Fishing system. It doesn't feel like you're actually fishing. More uses for Fish besides turning them into sand.
Introduction of a Fashion/Vanity slot to allow players to customize their appearance.
Introduction of Airships you actually ride on for a lower Gil price than the instant ships we have now. Request 5k for the long ride, and 10k for the instant (scaled to level 50).
Significant increase in content for 2.0, and for the love of Odin. STOP TELEPORTING ME EVERYWHERE.
Primals should not be found inside of a measly Aetheryte crystal. They are called Primals for a reason.
Could go on forever here, but these are some of the things I would really like to see.
My list:
- New spells and animations
- More Jobs (Red Mage, Summoner, Dark Knight)
- Redesign of gathering system
- New forms of questing and leveling direction
- Getting rid of powerleveling and a lackluster 1-50 experience
- Various levels of raid content
- Abolishment of dungeon timers
- Tanking equality
- Additional DPS spells for WHM
- Various colour chocobos
This is like sending your Christmas gift list on 26 December.
MY Wish List

Linkshell Housing- just like personal housing just that your ls can purchase like a small castle if your in limsa or collection of tree houses high in the sky if your in grid instead of every LS just picking a spot on uld's many walls. i think the Rp'ers would love this ideal and it would help with the congestion of everyone just standing around in uld
Linkshell Transportation- let LS's buy boats, airships, carriages, etc to travel from city to city and make the airship they have now just like the boat an actual airship ride where you can see the vast skys
Rare Big game HNM hunts
make the game actually hard stop mouthing feeding us content Garuda down in less then 7 hours what a joke i know of harder fights in wow....
lastly fix the balance in jobs, classes, and content. they make jobs to give classes a more specific role but then they have no content that validates this. you only see parties with every job because its kool and fun to win something with all the jobs in a party not because you have to or because its more efficient. they make class only gear and then sadly make it craftable, give it the best stats out of all crafted gear and make it meldable which gives it potential to rival af gear and darklight sets and don't allow us to use it on jobs... i dont understand? you have bards that can do just as much damage as mnk and drgs but with the ability to heal, buff, and raise at a safe distance. you got warrior who can tank in dd gear and dd in tank gear. we have 3 dd jobs mnk drg and blm but why use mnk and drg when you can do more damage and be safer at a distance as Blm and then a paladin that heals better than it can tank.... the jobs are great and they are pretty well balanced amongst each other but when you look at the content that you have given us with the classes and jobs there are many flaws
colored chocobo's
mini games (Parley sucks ass)
a better chat UI
Chocobo breeding and racing... plus less server jankyness.
- /sea all "Player Name" PLEASE GOD
- Swimming, there is no reason for my character to be as terrified of water as he is.
- Better butts! What's with the hyur flat ass syndrom? And what does Eorzea have against nipples? I'm a man! I don't wear no bra.
- Melee RED MAGE
- More open world content. Eorzea feels so empty with everyone disappearing into instances.
- I want the thaumaturges to invade the conjurer's guild and rip it from their cold, dead hands. That guild is way too awesome to be for conjurers.
I'm going to keep this civil and friendly for you. I just wanted to have my responces here before I add my own wishlist to the pile.
First, a quick overview.
Things with smiles are ok.
Things with question marks I'm iffy on.
Sticking my tongue out, I disagree with.
Angry face is a game-killer for me if implemented (I will unsubscribe without giving it a chance I feel so strongly about it.)
Now on to the details. I'll only go over what's not oked.
3. Absolutely not. Gear Swap was a toxic mechanic in FFXI. Swap mechanic killed all job variety. It also secured the use of 3rd party programs. It should have never been supported in FFXI and it should not be supported here. Sorry but I'm not willing to debate or discuss this. If they implemented it, I'm gone, period. It's just that bad.
4 & 5. I'm iffy on HNM and world boss systems as it stands. I'm going to be frank, heated competition in a PvE part of the game is bad and paves way for cheating. I've no problem with people desiring to fight these guys for epic battles. What I don't support is monopolizing loot. Perhaps if there was some sort of 'Hunters Guild' with points awarded by the death or trophy retrieval of these NMs, and, while they drop certain unique items, high value gear would be kept within in the currency system. (You can create certain barriers that prevent certain loot from being accessible until you've killed the specific NM.)
The same goes with creating high-level areas that have tedious and frustrating entry barriers. To put it more amusingly: I'd support Sky and Sea type areas if they're not locked off, and some poor noob sap can find their way in and get eaten. :D
8. While I'm in support for more weapon variety, I do like the fact that classes are restricted by their weapon type. Reason: Red Mage. There's no reason why this class should ever have access to anything but a degan, period. No staff swapping, no pinning the hybrid job into the back line. Securing Fencer/Red Mage to a fencing degan ends that debate before it's even released.
Now, if you were to create more weapon types that were designed for a job, like quarterstaves for monk or hand-axes for warrior, I could grow to support that - so long as the types stick to the basic principles behind each class/job.
10. Skillchains - I don't think they'd work here.
I want to state something here: The Battle Regiment system had potential - but they took it in the wrong direction, IMO. I would like to see them operate Battle Regiment like Crono Trigger/Crono Cross's ability combination system. They could use it as a means to directly combat class stacking by creating ability combinations that require a variety of jobs, rather than just multiple of one job spamming skills.
And we'd get fancy animations beyond just colored explosions.
More importantly, it would emphasis the feeling of teamwork visually too, just like skillchains.
I mean, some of these ideas are simply good. I don't mind them at all. I'm sorry Abyssea ruined your FFXI experience, but let's not try to make this FFXI-2. Let's be making this something better, that will appeal to more than just the disenfranchised FFXI crowd.
I'll be going through this thread looking over more ideas. It's more fun to mull over given ideas and respond with ways I think it could work or ways I think it won't work.
Gathering system: one question: How?
New forms of questing and leveling direction: So long as they are ADDITIONAL forms. Don't remove what is there - choice and variety is always a good thing, and some are quite happy with levequests.
Powerleveling and 1-50 experience: Iffy topic for me. I'm not opposed to power leveling, and if you have additional entertaining means of leveling, what's it hurting you? And don't say "omg I hav 2 deel with unskilledz playerz!" If you have that problem, don't do PUGs.
Better 1-50 experience? Ok. I'd say add level Sync and rewards that higher level players would come back for - Also keep it level capped.
Abolishment of Dungeon Timers: No thanks! I like the feeling of having to push through.
Remove the timer's effect on the loot is enough for most complaints. Adding places like Sky and Sea will provide alternative entertainment for those who don't like instanced/timed fights.
- wild Chocobos as enemies (with a black chocobo as NM)
- Chocobo raising
- jump
