i hate when i pl and 1 shot a mob.... dammit wth!!!!
Honestly, if you'd be afraid of starting an argument in bringing something like this up, they can't be very good friends.Quote:
How should i tell them with out starting an argument? How would you guys feel/deal this:(?
Disown them. PL is for noobs anyway.
Clearly it takes 50 levels for a Paladin to realize Phalanx combos into War Drum
I understand the feeling very well, i hate how people get caught onto want to enjoy ONLY the end game and want skip the fun of level normal way... along the low level content cause it.
Also, i see alot of people raging about newbies around getin PL'd to 50 and then no one want play with them cause they dont know how to play their jobs... now i see alot of people defending PLing newbies? whats wrong with you guys, decide yourself what you complaint about...
About the OP.... get to understand maybe he like me, got a couple friends he wanted to play with, and now results someone else took that pleasure off him cause he PLing his friends. i did got some friends in this game to play with them, got their games even installed on their PC, but they always wanted PL, so i did PL them ... thats not fun. Nowdays that they are Lv.50 and body able to do end game content, they aint my friends anymore, so yes. PL can be a killer of friendship and it sucks.
This is exactly how i feel about Garuda BLM burn exploit.
You just tell them how you feel. Point Blank.
Wait...there is content that isn't a mindless grind?
You must be referring to crafting... oh wait.
You must be referring to Primals... oh wait.
Surely you meant Darklight Dungeons... OH WAIT.
MAYBE U MEANT ACHIEVEMENTS? O WAIT.
Yeah, leveling up is totally not fun, that's why every MMO makes you do it. I think the next gen MMOs will just let you start off with all classes capped out so you can get straight to grinding the good stuff....but then you're still griding. Oh you said "end game content" you must mean Garuda? TOO BAD MY FRIENDS BLM BURND THRU THAT ALREADY. /facepalm you all seem clueless as to the unintended consequences of these exploits. /thread.
Edit: anyone who says "grinding is not fun, that's why ppl PL" obviously didn't play FFXI in it's golden age.
double post.
It's no one else's business how another player chooses to gain their levels. If your friends preferred to get PLed rather than go at your pace, there's a discrepancy between what they wanted, and what you expected of them, since you feel so disappointed. You can't just blame PLing because your friend preferred it to going at your pace.
PLing in no way negatively effects anybody who doesn't care for it. Don't even try that tired argument of it leading to players on 50s that have no idea how to play their jobs effectively. Plenty of people in game that have 50s legitimately who have no flipping clue how to play their jobs, let alone possess the hand-eye coordination, timing, and overall common sense to be able to play effectively. In fact most people end up needing to be told how to play their jobs by people who have figured it out for them, which in no way has a prerequisite of having leveled your job legitimately.
Look noctis, he isn't starting an argument. Please don't bust out the moral lesson of PLing in this thread, nobody wants to hear it -the dead horse has been beaten enough. He is simply bummed that he can't level up his main class with his friends like he intended to because they PLd straight to 50.
Why does everyone who support PLing seem to think of leveling as a "boring and useless grind"? Isn't it obvious that the OP would have *enjoyed* grinding out those levels with his friends rather than getting PLed to 50 then gridning on dungeons or primals? Why does this seem so foreign to this community...
Alright I'm breaking with my current plan of not openly attacking PLing but THAT sir is BULLSHIT.
OP himself was DIRECTLY affected by PLing! Because there is an exploit he missed out on many leveling parties and time spent with his friend enjoying the mid-game. I can also attest to how PLing hurts the overall community. When I start EXP parties and try to find people to fill the overbloated party setups I find half of my potential party members are already out there getting PL'd. I have had this happen MULTIPLE times! We move out to Nop Wells to scatter some ants and naturally we lose players. At one point my PT was 4/8 and on the verge of collapse due to lack of reps, even asking every soul in range in /tell, flagged or not. During my search I stumbled across a PL PT at the South Camp.
Oh look at that! They are all within our range and 4/8 themselves!
{Excuse me...} 4/8 {Let's Team Up?}
{No thanks!} getting pl
Yeah but our pt could merge with yours and we'd be high enough to go to Copperbell
no thanks man this is easier
I have yet to convince anyone from an active PL PT into a real PT because why would anyone want to actually WORK for the things they desire? I'm sorry but PLing screws us all over and the whole, "Well don't PL if you don't want to but leave it in game!" is utterly and completely ass stupid. It RUINS the game and will ensure FFXIV shrivels up and dies. Human beings are lazy. Let's face it. We've spent the last 50 million years learning how to get grubs out of logs with small sticks just so we didn't have to climb a tree for some fruit. The moment a new piece of content comes out within days there is a 'right' way to do it. It is the easiest, fastest, or most efficient in some capacity and that is generally what people stick to. You might find the odd individual willing to do a task in a more difficult manner but for 99% of the population the path of least resistance is chosen most often.
Leaving PLing in this game will straight murder any hope we have for low-to-mid game leveling and basically null the leveling process entirely. Shit we may as well start capped. When you log on simply pick a class like in TF2! That way everyone can get to their precious end game ASAP! To GRIND for weapons which have no purpose but to make it easier to grind MORE weapons!
It is an exploit. It is wrong. It is ruining the game. This is a fact. The only people I see actively defending PLing are those who do it themselves and don't want to get called out on cheating. Or are just that lazy. There is no excuse. If you find the 8 day average 'grind' for a capped job too tedious then why on God great spinning ball would you play an MMO?
Yeah, OP... just get PL'd so you can get past the grind so you can grind more while you grind for grinds as the only fun grinds are what a select group of people tell you are.
friends don't let friends QQ on lodestone about friends pl'ing other friends when friends get mad at other friends about it.
I just came back to FFXIV with a friend, so maybe my opinion isn't worth listening to, but..
We both refuse to power level, there's absolutely no point in a MMO to skip half the content in the game, even if it is a grind. I wouldn't have done it in WoW, I wouldn't have done it in FFXI. I'm half afraid to even join a linkshell due to the power leveling. So far, we've gotten Dragoon unlocked together, and it was a blast. We did the Maws duo, and it was a fun and memorable. Did we clear it? No, but it was fun learning through on our own and not having our hand held.
If you're going to skip half the exploration and content, why are you even playing this game?
What kills me about power leveling is the fact that it renders making/selling almost any gear before endgame borderline pointless. Way to destroy a huge chunk of the economy just to appeal to laziness.
Then there's the people that power level all their combat classes to 50 then brag about how awesome they apparently are. Not that taking the mechanics for it out would change their attitudes, if they're set on being snobs I'm sure they'd find some other method. Still annoying though.
Sure, beatin a dungeon of lv.25 monsters as a Lv.50 job as a god that can murder the final boss of it with a toothpick... how fun sound that....
PLing isnt a problem self, the problem is people abuse of it... they skip the fun part of low levels, besides, ok tell "start as Lv50" instead get PL'd sounds too much extreme, but i will give you something to think about this:
Imagine you be a new player to this game, startin with your new chracter, join a LS at your early low level. Lets say some nice person PL'd you from Lv.1 to 50 , you of course didnt got to play with no one else but with that guy PL'ing you, and actually you didnt play with him, as all you did was watch, ok, imagine you later on now as Lv.50 take your time soloing to learn you job and you did succesfully, but then now you want to do end game content, your AF quest, etc etc, but... oh wait since you got PL'd from 1 to 50, you didnt made a friend, you didnnt even got to meet other people enough except that guy who PL'd you.... you try and ask that guy PL'd you from 1 to 5o to do things togueter but oh... surprise, he already has a circle of friends (maybe even a static group) with who do raids, and you are not part of it, he maybe be nice enough to try help you alone but oh... he alone isnt enough to fullfill a party to do lets say avatars or any raid... so again its only you and him , good luck tryin stuff with a completelly random pick up party, ask the friends of your friend who PL'd you (considering he even your friend and up to do this) might be rather embarrasing but most importantly... most of times pointless... So in the end you end complainin no one helps you blah blah blah.... who you gona blame for this?
You still think PLing isnt an issue? it is... maybe you one of those lucky ones who have high level friends and will allow you to join them once you hitt 50, but what about those who doesnt have someone high level waitin for them? are you gona tell me "screw them, i dont care for them?" well, have you notices, you should care about it if you think you will be one of those who will ever complain "why not many people play this game?"
EDIT: *puts on Star wars fish mask* "PL is a Trap!, PLing is a traaaaap!!!!"
My main point of the previous post is, you maybe can tell me gamers can still do good , they can learn their job after get PL'd from 1-50, yes i agree to this fact i be seen this alot of times, i have PL'd people before.... but i can also say i be seen alot of people avoidin to play with ppl who has been got PL'd from1 to 50 cause they consider them "noobs", and dont tell me this isnt true, i see this situation almost everyday. So even if the gamer do good, he cant avoid beign judged anyways he doesnt knows how to play.
and on other hand, and to me most important aspect of leveling normal way, is to find friends and build bonds, and find a group with who do things, to me this is most important aspect of leveling normal way, and wich is pretty much lost if you get PL'd since begining. PL maybe be good once you leveled by normal means at least 1 job from 1 to 50 and got able to make friends of your own, but definetivelly i dont see this fit on people who just started game and dont even have a job past lv.25.
Man, going through your forum history here it really is clear that you just like to bitch at everything at life that disagrees with you. How you manage to function is really a mystery.
In any case, I'm done. If you want to get your panties in a bunch over the fact that people don't like power leveling then more power to you. Don't need to continue this conversation. Crap like this is the entire reason I left Fabul in the first place.
The only thing you'd be missing out on is building Achievements and not all of them even, the main reason fangirls don't like PL ultimately is like it has been mentioned several times people don't know their jobs/stat allotments so are morally forced to spend months leveling to 50 for all jobs and not have a life outside the game. And they don't want people advancing in this game quicker than they did, they need to stay on their high horse for as long as possible, if it means discrediting a valid way of playing this game then a troll campaign like anti-PL starts.
But then they have to suffer elitist end game LSs and when someone takes a mere second longer to perform in pt they get abused severely rather than receiving gracious wisdom which should be coming from these types of elitists.
In the beginning I was against it but considering the blatant botting going on in this game and the other aspect of building character relationships from the broken party search system, PL is NOTHING! Get over it haterz! @_@;
When I see troll complaints like this, it reminds me of the Catholic Church vs Gay Marriage battle, pot calling kettle black!
Power leveling allowed me to burn through content and get to the more important things in xiv. Crafting and watching movies for hours on end.
