but the queue system is a critical failure for many people. its even more critical than a server crash would be, a fps drop or any disconnects or unsmooth server: because they literally cant play. If you login in shiva in peak hours, you literally are stuck for 5-7 hours queue. thats for many people "not beeing able to play this day". Playing with dros, with lags, with crashes etc is at least playing. but no playing is well... no playing

i played EVERY mayor mmolaunch ever. i played every mmo expansion start. i played every expac start from final.

this one is literally the one with the longest queues i experienced so far - and this now over 2 weeks. thats a new

The pressure of possibly losing time to play the game definitely played a factor in going hard on the story. I don't think that's what I call the success they were looking for.

Over 2 weeks? Early access start was december 3. Not sure how many days you consider to be 'over 2 weeks' but by my count, 10 is not it.

The RMTs can get in but the subbed players can't... Yup, a total successful launch! /Reeeeeee

Yeah this is exactly the case. I personally have all the time in the world to sit and wait so I have had no issues and been playing just fine but there's many people in my FC working 9 to 5's who just simply cannot get online at all. By the time they get home at 6pm or later, made dinner and showered it's already too late to play with the 3-4 hour queues right now.

Nobody ever said it was a perfect launch, but it was successful. The queue times approximately a week after launch still being so high is testament to that. If it were as bad as you seem to want the rest of us to believe, as with any other game, there would be a noticeable decline in players, and they wouldn't be looking into adding more servers. For the most part, the login problems aren't even their fault.

I'm fairly certain New World had the same problems due to the massive influx of players at launch. The same long queues, and the same disconnection errors during the queues.

Its a success

The game itself had a successful launch, the queue system itself was a failure in Endwalker's release. I won't take away how fun the games has been to play but yeah the queueing was the weak link in the release and it does need to be treated as such and admitted as it.

Too many SE fanboys that think the game had a succesful launch.....for the company maybe yes it was a succesful launch as they made tons of money, but for us players was not. we paid for a product we cant play properly.

Some people have IRL things to do, like jobs and families....we dont have time to login in the morning and play all day, like some of the no-lifers aka fanboys here.

Not completely successful, but not so bad.

Seen better, seen worse. I would barely categorize it as a success, since the game servers are there and pretty solid once you get in.

I am however fortunate enough that I can play during the lull hours, so that may color my perspective.

I work full time (and not from home) and I'm back in college, and I'm still able to play daily. I queue up when I get home, then go about making dinner, eating, homework, etc. By the time I'm done, I'm playing.


This weird obsession people have with "only no lifers can play" is kind of disturbing

As would I. It's an absolute bargain for the hours of entertainment I have gotten completing MSQ and still so many more hours will I get out of it. The very definition of success.

The fact that there is a queue of over 4000 users per world is successful. It just shows you how many players want to play FF14 versus how many wanted to during the ShB launch. I haven't had any issues or even needed to queue but I know there are many that have. I wouldn't say it's a failure though, it's impossible to prepare hardware for this many people on such short notice during a shortage. If you want to know how bad it is, try finding a 3080RTX or 3090RTX on the market that isn't 3x the normal price. If you work in IT, it takes months to get a new laptop or other hardware. It's not just SE suffering from this shortage, it's everyone.

This. I love this expansion and the story.

Did you know why blizzard goes to hell ? Because their comunity never want to see the truth.

EndWalker is great , but we can't enjoy it because SQUARE ENIX din't want to invest on data centers. They lie to us.
Some people don't understand that the gaming time can't be move it after hours.
If can't ride with my friends , there is no purpose to pay for an mmo.

This will be the last time i pre-order an expantion something from square enix. Of course i already cancel my subscription. Of course will not recomend to anybody to play the game because no servers and very bad planning.

Actually laptops are quite easily available, even gaming ones. Desktop GPUs not so much. Shortages or Covid could delay like the Oceania servers as a whole but still sproutbringer happened on top of known to them preorders so they could try to get some solution to the problem like making more people log in but at the expense of limitations of online features or whatever they would come up with. Like in the most edge case scenario MSQ aside of instances (unless Trust system) is single player thus it could be done semi-offline (no players or other in game activity) with simpler/less taxing connection to the servers to track progress. Or try using NA/EU/JP worlds during local night when other zone is in prime time.

We don't know what they tried, maybe nothing would solve this but anyway they can't be fully excused or SE will get Blizzard treatment - sales and marketing people will win and engineering voices will loose on value - who needs extra servers if people took the apology, mostly kept sub going and played MSQ 4 months after release...

i wasnt meaning to be insulting but i did mean to make the point of a lot of people arent just able to rearrange their lives to play a video game. i am more fortunate then most to where i was able to get a couple days off work last week to log in early to be the queu and play and other then chores and such i can play as much as i want with no limit but i know a lot of people arent in that same position and i get some people might just try being helpful but some comments arent very realistic and downplays other peoples issues. i think this expac had such a wonderful story and i personally havent had issues once logged in but that dont mean other people havent been plagued with these difficulties. i feel really bad because i know that yoshi and the team worked hard on the expansion so it sucks to have this type of dark cloud looming over it and i would like to think that they would fix it if they easily could but that is little ease to those that are experiencing these issues. personally i think the bigger problem is the queu line blowing up and randomly disconnecting people. its already disappointing to know that you might have to wait 2 hours or more like i do during the week but getting randomly disconnected and if you arent babysitting the computer and catch it quick enough your back at the end makes it far worse.
