one S mob as a weekly? even if you have a premade 8man grp you always go hunting with, that would require 4,5 years till you have your first 2000 S mobs
you can use that idea maybe additionally to the current system but not as replacement

That depends a lot on the individual player, I think.
Personally I actually often skip spawn attempts during the dead hours because I'd rather save the mark for a time when more people will be around to profit from it. Makes me sad to see a perfectly fine S Rank wasted on ten people lol
Considering how many spawners in our groups already have their mounts and spend all their currency solely on aetheryte tickets, I'd say there's quite a few 'active players that search for A marks and respawn S marks' who no longer do it for themselves and still have fun, and who may just end up that slightly more bored if they could only do it once every x days with a fraction of the people.
I dig the idea of a treasure map style hunt board mark, though. I wouldn't want it to replace good ol' communal murder time, but maybe I'd actually start picking up weekly hunt bills again if some of them were more involved than flying over the map and punching a thing.
Y'know, come to think of if, maybe we've been ignoring the real elephant in the room here all along: aside from using them to map S rank spawns, what in the world am I ever gonna do 1000 B rank kills for. 6 years' worth of weekly hunt bills? The achievement doesn't even give you a title :(
S ranks have been my favorite content in the game for years.
If the aforementioned changes were made I'd not only stop hunting, but probably quit the game altogether lol
I agree the hunt system could use a few tweaks for sure, it doesn't need a scorched earth rework
I think they should have it scale up automatically if a large numbers of players attack it, similar to World Bosses in WoW.
The way it works in WoW, a world boss might have say... 5 million HP for 10 players. If an 11th player attacks, the HP will scale up to 5.5 million. If 40 players attack, it will scale up to 20 million. The scaling up happens at the moment each additional player hits the boss. The HP percentage (current HP / max HP) are not changed when the boss scales up for more players.
I think some scaling according to how many players are on battle jobs would be nice. I think also having it as a fate that can be triggered (like in eureka) and forcing players to scale to a certain ilevel would help too, but EW's problem riht now is that the hp is completely undertuned.
While I think the hunt system is kinda broken, this seems a bit off.
Saying "Content designed to be grindy is likely to entail a grind to actually complete the associated achievements" is not so much saying "there is no war in Ba Sing Se" so much as saying "if there is war in Ba Sing Se, it probably involves a military of some form."
Whether or not you think the grind on the hunt-related achievements is a sane grind or not, the fact is that if you've got a achievement to do thousands of a thing, it is very likely meant to be a grind. When folks say "but it would take years to get those achievements if you didn't blitz all the hunts"... I mean, yes? That is almost certainly what those achievements are designed to be: long-term (and I mean long-term) goals for those who enjoy going after hunt marks.
The short-term benefits to going after hunt marks are things you can buy with the hunt currencies, or special-FATE-specific currency purchases like mounts and minions. (I'm including those in the hunt system because, let's be honest, special FATEs get spawned in much the same way and often by the same folks.)
This doesn't mean there aren't plenty of problems with the hunt system as it stands right now, mind you. Just that I don't think that particular aspect of it is a bug so much as "system working as intended." Whether or not you agree with the "intended" part.
Nuke every hunt achievement to a fifth of what they are currently

I'm just spitballing but it's pretty hilarious how even if you had the time to do 3 endwalker S ranks a day, assuming you didn't have to spawn it of course, you probably wouldn't finish in the expansion time frame before they have a new set to grind out without you even having a mount finished. Easily one of the most ridiculous grinds in the game, not even that it's difficult. Granted, this is the nichest content in the entire game, the mount isn't a huge priority for me even if I want it, but damn.
Health scaling like how legion did when it came out. Have A/S rank hunt targets get increased health based on how many people and how how their level and ilvl is. It'll not only give people time to join but to also let older expansion hunt targets actually live long enough so that players who are still going through the msq/xpac a chance to experience the hunt system when one spawns near them or in the xpac areas they are in.
Adding onto this;
Someone told me the other day that the value of the EW S ranks hp is only 3-5million higher than ShB ones. Which, if this is true, is terrible. That is not a lot when you have 150+ people smacking it, the hp values should be at least 10-15 million higher as its current content and our gear will continue to scale (even with stat squish).
