i support the idea, why wouldn't the grand companies reward you for returning gear to them that could be refurbished and given out to other adventurers?
Not like they're fighting a war... or ya know... the end of the friggin world or something.

I'm keeping my gc gear might be useful in the feature.
I'm not 100% for seal refund but I am 100% for some type of trade in system for old gear that has run its course. One of the reasons people want to trade stuff in is everyone is starting to reach points where they have no jobs low enough to use it...its difficult to just throw it away once you out level it. There has to be something to do with them....Hamlet item trade in maybe?
Yeah we need this. The damn 4k seals Gridanian Wand which is now horribly useless.
No no no. You don't convert a primal weapon you don't longer need. You throw it away. Because if you convert it, you get something back for it.
Whatever, SE should give everybody with more than 10 GC items a GC wardrobe in the Inn room ^^
(we could buy the wardrobe in the grand company for seals.)
Agree! I know we could not get a full refund buy 20%-50% of the price would be very nice.
I would like to be able to store it Would also be cool to be able to convert it to materia, maybe even add some materia related to sanction that can only be obtained from converting company gear.
I say why not~
I would never sell mine, but if some people wants their seals back I guess they could have those. Let's make the NPC who rewards Seals for U/U gear to have a section called "Recycle Grand Company Gear" so you can have some seals out of your gear you don't want anymore because you find it either useless or something like that.
HAMLET need to let you choose anima or seals for turn in or fighting.
HOw about you turn in old gear for anima.
Great suggestion here! We made sure to let the dev. team know about your idea and they said that they will look into allowing the trade back of unwanted Grand Company equipment for a certain amount of seals that they were originally bought with. :D
This would be nice, I have got a few bits of GC gear I dont want any more.
I already discarded my old equipment! Bawwwww.
Wish I hadn't tossed my old GC axe's when I upgraded them :/
Good news all the same tho Thank You!
AAhh NNNOOOO!!!
No Bad idea !! Gear should be earn not given. When you work hard for items it gives a feeling of achievement . Stop asking for handouts plz.
I don't think you read the whole post.
It's not a handout if you're given only 1/4 of the seals back for items that you earned in the first place. That's not going to magically undermine a sense of achievement. People aren't just going to buy things willy-nilly, but instead be more comfortable with using lower level GC gear.
Welp..... It just gets worse and worse......
Only a few people want this, but tons more want open world content. Wheres that?
Also, there goes one choice you have to make in this game. Do I buy this or save up? OH I CAN JUST BUY THIS AND TRADE IT BACK IN!~ Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. Come on SE. really? With the upgrades you are doing to seals and how easy they are to get now, what's the point in even having them in the first place. It's terrible excuse for content anyways.
Sadly i've skipped quite a bit of GC Items i'd have liked to get because i knew i'd out level them quickly.
Is you spend 2000 seals on something, then give it back and get 500. I fail to see how that is getting something for nothing. Infact its a net loss.
Much like when you trade in video games. You buy something at Price. Get use out of it, and trade it back in, for usually much less then you paid. A Car also loses value very quickly. Allowing it to be made into materia would be akin to trading seals for Gil which is a much worse suggestion as the value is harder to judge.
Overall i approve of the initial idea. It will allow newer players, whom i was recently, feel more positive about spending Seals more liberally.
Oh, hey, it's been a while since Rokien was around.
I missed your nonsense.
Still bad idea. Evertime I turn around peeps want O can we get totems for wpns , O can we turn in the wpn for seals and on and on.
Best way to kill this game is listening to the wrong peeps and making stuff to easy to get or do. AF childs play. AF in 11 Hardcore and fun.
Make the AF quest 30 with a level 30 party and say again it's child play ^^
I will only trade in my Serpent Soldier stuff once we can buy the Serpent Marshal's gear... His coat is way too fly.
please oh please let me npc my old Grand Company Gears, im like a pack rat buying alot of stuff in the GC counter after the last promotion, i need to get rid of it somehow besides dropping it >.>
Personally I don't see what all the fuss is. I had bought a Serpent Sergeant's Bow before the 1.22c update because, well, it was the best bow I could get at the time considering Ifrit's stinginess, Garuda's toughness and noone doing Good King Moggle Mog's NMs when I'm on. Now that we have the Serpent Lieutenant gear I really want that new bow. But I already have the Sergeant bow. This isn't a matter of trading in a spear to get an ax, this is two bows with one clearly better than the other. I'm not a hoarder because, until 2.0 arrives, we still only have 200 inventory slots and I can't seem to get it under 100 anymore for all the items I'm carrying for the jobs I have leveled.
I'd like to do something with this Sergeant's Bow when I get my Lieutenant's Bow but tossing it is not a reasonable option at all. Is it really so unreasonable to want that? I spent 6150 or so seals on the thing, I'd be getting back chump change in return. Reminds me of Gamestop, really. There are still lower tier items I want but I'm sure Square's going to release stuff in the future that, again, eclipses it making people wonder what they'll do with the old company gear now that it's obsolete and wasting space. And no, I don't have a Lieutenant's Bow yet cause I'm not making seals hand-over-fist. Took me days just to get the seals to make Lieutenant and that was including seals that I had been saving prior to buy a Sergeant's Tabard and Choker, items I still don't have yet.
I'd say it's worth looking into. Thus, I support the OP.
Oh hey it's my thread again.
I'm hoping this happens in 1.23, though it's less of a HUGE GAME-RUINING CONCERN™ now that caravans give more seals.
I have my final promotion and various pieces of highest rank GC gear already but I just bought the 4 pieces of Soldier gear to get an achievement. Sadly, it looks like I'll have to just toss those Soldier items out now because 4 slots of worthless items is expensive... I know they only cost 1k seals each and anyone doing the foundation day event can make that in a minute but still. It's so depressing to just throw something into the gutter...
I don't even care if I get anything back for them, I just want their last moment to serve some sort of purpose. Even if we just donate them to hamlet without any sort of reward; just being told that good homes will be found for those pieces of gear is still so much better than tossing them into the abyss. I'm a hoarder by nature so in my mind everything has a purpose and a place!
It's been a long time since this was commented on by the devs so I just wanted to make sure they were still keeping it in mind, at least for 2.0 if they can't do it before. Sorry for the necro post but it seemed better than making a new thread to repose the suggestion.
What if removed they untradeable tag from GC gear and allowed us to npc or bazaar the gear or like someone suggested trade them at the hamlet...???
i agree actually. when GC first came out, i bought a pair of Gridanian Claws, cuz they were new and cool.. well since then, theyve released many many new better gear.
and i have found a better pair of fists too. but im still stuck with these claws.. Unique, Untradable, cant meld them, cant convert them. i dont wanna toss them because i bought them. but really... what am i supposed to do with them?
