I thought this community was full of saints, that would just line up for tedious content over and over out of the goodness of their heart.

I've turned over to JP voiceover since I started Stormblood and now I managed to glean some mirth from the voiced speeches. Lahabrea's "Pathetic!" is somehow funnier and even more condescending in Japanese.
Many times the /afk'ers are actually RMT bots, the one controlling them queuing up for the MSG so they can progress to the point of unlocking profitable dungeons to bot in.
Typically, if they are a derplander or derplafel DPS, with a random string of letters name, they are part of a RMT bot squad.
/report and /vkick them as soon as possible.
Huh. I currently run through MSQ Roulette twice daily (one on each of two alts), and have been doing so for a while -- haven't run into anyone who's definitely AFK yet.
I have, however, run into party members who are so gung-ho about speed running that they leave party members who are new to the instance at the bottom of an elevator shaft with no way to go anywhere except directly to Nero after three cutscenes and a stroll through Praetorium via Magitech Armor.
Also, I'd be a bit leery of confessing to engaging in a vote to kick at the very last boss. If you notice it while fighting Nero, waiting another 25 minutes might be considered harassment. Best to kick them earlier.
if only people would take the few seconds to kill these enemies... it would also make the new players life easier.... but oh no, that would be a ridicolous idea.
expand trusts to it then be done with it forever
If you have an afk person the other 7 should use return and afk with them. If you can't beat them, then join them. It's not like you need someone to actually do the dungeon to get the rewards.
That would be extremely inefficient for RMT bots when they could just queue together and use their hacks to have the dungeon completed in a couple of minutes.
I've also never seen any character in a MSQ roulette with a RMT bot name, which stand out like a sore thumb.
The AFKers are either "normal" players using bots to do activities the player finds distasteful or lazy players hoping the group will either not notice them or have some go-go-go player keeping everyone in combat so the party never gets a decent chance to kick them.
I've actually come to enjoy grinding Prae endlessly to level alts and collect Tomes. I've even developed some head canon about the instance. For example, I like to believe the first phase of Ultima Weapon where he's almost invincible is just him learning how to operate it since he just spins around casting one ability lol.
"Bear witness to the true power of the Ultima Weapon!" *after I read the manual*
PraeFKers
I'd care about this more if Prae wasn't so trivially easy that half the party could AFK and it'd still get done in mostly the same time
Meh, some people are too aggressive on these people. There are people that AFK to do chores DURING the trash mobs (which is, basically nothing) but actively take part in battling the bosses and they still get kicked (my friend)
My personal take on it is, if you sign up for group content, you participate in that content. Regardless of how easy it is, you specifically signed up for something intended for group participation and you are expected to do your part even if it's for 20 seconds of combat between a swath of cutscenes. If that's too much of a burden for the rewards, there's other more engaging content available.
I mean your rouletting it half the time, and the place cant be called a dungeon in my opinion.
Its basically a fifty minute movie with no voice acting. Honestly they should just nerf it down completely and make it a solo run with the scions. There is hardly anything you need to do there, fights are cleared so quickly by the time you stop zoning out from voiceless movie its dead.
I have ran across RMT bots in the two MSG roulettes over a dozen times over the last two years.... on average, it would be two characters per run.... Most I have seen was 4 at once.
They would stay at the starting point, only catching up as they port into a boss arena after we engage, they do nothing at that port in spot, repeating for each subsequent boss.
It would be very obvious what they were, as they "match" the typical RMT bot you run into in the wild or at the quest turn-in NPCs with the default sprout characters, default gear, no FC, and gibberish names, only not doing the teleporting and "underground" hacking.
Generally we would /vkick them after a couple bosses, as it was very plain what they were by then.
So, yes inefficient, but it is something they do.
I'm just mentioning what I have also seen, not just it being a "regular player" who is non-participating.
Yes, I run across a "leech" fairly common, who either just auto-follows or stays parked at zone-ins (MSG start and each boss arena), who are simply not doing anything but leeching the exp/tomestones/progress.
They are normally not sprouts, but a regular player, sometimes in FC, just not participating for whatever reason.
They might even be controlled by one of the other players in the party (especially if they are auto-following), as in a multi-box setup or whatever.... /shrug
Just /vkick and /report
But, as I stated above, I do also run into real RMT bots in MSQ roulette, as I described.
I see lots of them and sometimes bots in it. I wish they fix those enemies agroe that doesn't reset when use the teleportal to go to next area. It make kicking them alot easier.
Gotta get hasty with the vote dismisses, I haven't done that content in over a year or so but immediately after some cut scenes the vote can occur.
I've honed my vote kick skills to be timed right between the Nero and Gaius fights.
Everyone is moved out of combat regardless of there they were. It's a pretty good point in which someone has spent a decent amount of time and to get nothing out of it too.
Never AFKd there on purpose, but I have made the mistake of falling asleep to wake up to the end and everyone gone.
Usually because I left it till the last roulette of the night when tired, and the cutscenes are just so easy to sleep to x.x
honestly it can be frustrating, though i dont see it that often at all best we can do is actively kick someone who do it. i still prefer prea over castrum by far so and again i dont see it often. now if someone communicates that they have to run real quick or something it dont bother me so much because they are at least saying something to communicate with the group an issue.
How about the people that prep the group with an excuse for going afk right in the beginning?
"Hey guys, glad to be here...you all are great...I've got pizza coming, might have to go afk briefly, please don't kick!"
I generally try to check on them in chat because someone could be legitimately afk. It's also not common even when a group knows they're afk to boot them, because that slows down the break neck speed. So I think most skate by just by that sometimes.
I've been randomly running this for the special tomes for the past few weeks. Every run has 1 afk person. Most of the time we can't get them vote kicked because someone already pulls the boss.
Also I would like to say that PC players using the ALT-F4 (exploit imo) to skip cutscenes is on the rise.
Shouldn't take longer than a cutscene to answer the door, grab the pizza and get back to your computer/console.
If you're still AFK 10 minutes later, we know you were lying about why you were AFK and can kick without feeling guilty.
That can be reported. Easy enough to figure which player is responsible if you have your battle log enabled.
Once had someone like that very blatantly 'afk' in Labyrinth of the Ancients.
At first they just stood afk in the corner of the starting platform. When I mentioned them being afk, they suddenly showed up for the next boss - now standing around in the fight, not doing a single attack or using any skill. Sometimes saw them walking a bit, but not doing anything else.
Like.. why? Don't queue if you're not going to play. They kept doing that through two bosses, then someone in the party started a vote kick and the player got kicked. I didn't cause I was worried with the new TOS about harrassment that kicking a player for not using skills could be reportable (for the person initiating the kick).
See, at least lota actually has fights. Prae is literally more than 30 minutes of just cutscenes. You skip the entirety of the first like, four pulls by literally running past them, and can meme faceroll literally every boss fight with three people.
Like yeah I agree people shouldn't queue into content just to afk through it. I'll generally kick someone who's afk in like, an alliance roulette or something. But Prae?
I think maybe it's because the design of this dungeon is so godawful, and my first run experience was so freaking terrible, but I just will never understand the vehemence people have about booting people afking in Prae. Like I just kinda laugh when I see it happen because you know what, it's fair. It's a bad dungeon with a bad layout and bad boss fights with, I'll say it, bad dialogue made worse by taking parts of it out (because I'm pretty sure we used to be able to answer Gaius), and it has frankly stupidly good rewards for the utter lack of effort or attention it requires.
I guess I'm just unreasonably mad that this dungeon is so terrible that it's literally only worth doing if you one, have 45 minutes in a row blocked out or two, have something else you need to be doing but can spare the bare minimum attention to get in and collect the big exp dump. Like the only real reason to not afk through it is because if everyone does it won't get done at all, but it can still be cleared in roughly the same amount of time if half the group is even half paying attention.
I think I'm just mad that Prae sucks so much lmao. Glad I don't have any reason to run it anymore I guess.
You can use vote kick when it's justified, and AFK is on the list.
Just can't blatantly chat around saying you're going to kick someone cause you don't like them kind of thing. Some people do the courtesy AFK check just in-case they really had to step away. But of course people should say so if it's legit.
Like in Frontline there are those people who don't contribute, just ride their mounts in a corner, or never attack. Teams have no problem AFK kicking people because there are good reasons to win. I remember there was a mentor that AFK and actually said they don't even want to bother cause we were losing. Nothing like putting the evidence in the chat log. I didn't say a thing and simply reported them.
Monitors aren’t expensive anymore. Watching YT or Netflix while actively joining in on MSQ is simple and really fun.
