Troll aside…
Is it annoying? Yes
Can it get any better? For future reference, definitely.
But did they make it clear from the news & announcement? For real, absolutely.
Read every line of the announcement, don’t cherry pick what you like to read—you made that choice so this is 99.99% players’ fault to not read thoroughly.
If there’s anything good I’d like to have from exchanging the remaining tomes, it’s Yoshi-P’s /smh emote. Precisely to respond to something like this. Sadly I’ve spent all the remaining for MGP vouchers!
Regardless of the accusation that the OP is a troll he/she has a point here. The fact that SE flipped the tables on us has surprised a lot of people. In case you forgot the other tomestone exchanges where open until the next event went active and a lot of people were expecting that this would be same here. Very few people read the lodestone daily or are looking at the dark purple spam text in the chat box.
Yeah but SE gave specific dates for this one. Can't help it people assumed it's be like previous moogle events. More the reason to read the event listed carefully. It's on the front page of the official FFXIV website, as well as being up on the launcher screen for the first week at least and when you log into the game. This is like not reading about maintenance and coming on these forums to demand "Bring the servers back Up,now! I wasn't ready!"
I know a lot of you people think you're doing SE this huge favor or something but you're making these forums and this game come off very inhospitable.
design 101 : you can have all the warnings you want, the best solution is constancy (= do the same thing as all previous similar events)
To that end, this should've been clear it wasn't the same as previous similar events. Special icon over the moogle, special icon on the tomes, event was not a lead up to next patch drop.
All previous similar events have been "hey we're throwing tomes at anyone still sticking around at the end of this patch; event lasts until patch release." This was clearly a different situation.
My only annoyance is that it ended Monday morning (7.59am i think for me) and not on the Tuesday reset.
ah yes, telling people that the OP is a known troll with 15+ accounts only making these topics to get gullible people to respond is doing the community such a disservice, we should all be ashamed of ourselves
you know what's making the forum come off as inhospitable? trolls like him having free reign to poop all over the forums and nothing being done against them
That means literally nothing. So if you registered a forum account years ago but never post, makes you sus?
My old account was registered like 2013 or something with less than 100 posts, that means i'm sus?
I'm not using that account since they can't handle PC and Steam version on same account so when I moved over to Steam couple years ago I had to start a new account.
I mean, maybe learn to read the plethora of warnings about when the event actually ends? Pretty sure on the page for them they even mentioned after the cut-off, you couldn't turn them in like prior moogle tomes.
People caught off guard by all this come off like the same sorts who would click on those fake forum links being spammed by hacked accounts. A little reading gets you everywhere.
Anyway, daily reminder that Venandi is yet another forum troll and to move on.
They aren't gonna, because they specifically did say both the tomes and the exchange would be going away at the end of the event. Technically speaking, it's on us for not reading the fine print.
But I do agree in that this was a bad change for them to make anyway, because as most of us know, they had set a precedent with all the previous moogle tome events -- a precedent that led many people into thinking the exchange would still be available simply because that's how it's worked for the previous events.
There really wasn't anything good that was going to come out of SE "altering the deal" like this.
We're not surprised because most of us saw warnings in the launcher, warnings here on the forum, I believe a warning when you log on and a warning yesterday from friendly users at the Moogle to spend now before it went away. I had on at least four different instances seen a very clear warning about this. At some point it's no longer a 'they didn't warn us' issue and instead a 'i can't be bothered to pay any modicum of attention' issue. Oh also, Venandi does nothing but post rants and hot takes, ergo, with the troll epidemic on this forum, it is very easy to lob someone like Venandi in as 'just another one of them'.

Even if we assume, it join the 1st, that's a total of 46 days. So, FYI, to be active on the forum you need to post more than 1,78 messages per day. Which is not a prime number by the way.
I did not see these warnings. I don't go to the lodestone often (who does?), this is my first time logging into the forums, and I don't use social media hardly at all. The warning that is on the post for the event was overlooked. I feel like it could have been put at the top in bold since it was a change from the norm, instead of the majority of the way down the page. i don t remember seeing anything about a warning at the login. where did this show up?
I'm really sad I missed this. i generally read all the patch notes, but i overlooked this somehow, and so did everyone I routinely hang around in game. i just expected that it woudl be like all the previous moogle events i have ever seen ever and i could spend them when it was over like i have every time.
Nope; I've just seen enough troll posts with troll alts to recognize suspicious activity. Is she? Who knows. Her other posts are generally good so she's probably just been legit trollbaited.
Big difference between a general low post count, but overall good messages (which looking at her posts, she passes that smell test) and choosing to defend a known troll (which is what made me suspicious).
I assume we've all played Clue? Being suspicious is not an accusation.
These posts are getting so meta. This is like the meme when everything is secretly cake, only we're all just TitanMen alts.
Uh... I go to the lodestone every time they post an announcement to ensure I read the details so I know what is going on. It is on the players to stay informed. SE does their part by providing the information on their official site, their social media, and their launcher. As for the in game information the warning was posted the same place all current event information is posted. In the chat box when you first log in. I only just came back after a year break and I knew that this was different just by the fact that there were symbols on the moogles in a way that had never been done before. So, seeing a difference I checked the lodestone page where it said it. It's no one's fault but your own that you didn't go to the lodestone page about it that was linked directly in the Launcher.
I didn't even pay attention to that because EVERY other moogle tome prize event has let you spend them afterwards... WHY is this one different?
It does matter. It was clear from the get-go that they were handling this one differently. They explicitly said that players couldn't exchange their tomestones after a certain date/time. Even so, I wouldn't have seen the harm in letting players exchange them for at least a small period of time after the event ended. At the end of the day though, it fell on the players to know how things worked since SE was clear on the terms.
The best part about this is Square can’t even bring the vendors back without risking the same people ignoring the message again.
How do you get scammed from OFFICIAL Launcher Links?
Cause i play 2.5 years and i always click them when i see something new or something i need to revisit and everything is fine..
first the weather, then the pre order and now this? how paranoid are you? /sweat

This one was different because it was done specifically for the FF2021 Fanfest and added three things that are not normally a part of the mog rewards. Those three things SE likely does not want to have available through other means and may never be added to the moogle rewards again. As it states in the announcement on the lodestone. Now the absolute reasoning as to the why is speculation but based on the information given it is the most likely. True they could have had a period of time after the event ended to turn in the tomes for reward still, but that doesn't chance the fact that they were open and blatant about this moogle treasure trove being different from all the ones that came before it.
To be completely honest, it doesn't matter if this event was run differently to the last, if you demand something like a petulant child you won't, and shouldn't get what you want. Just look at the title, that is no way to make a complaint or ask for anything. The answer will almost certainly be no if you approach something with that attitude.
P.S. I'm remembering why I haven't logged into these forums in years... you guys are condescending AF. lol
Thanks, God. The ones who decide stuff like this are the devs btw.
This moogle treasure trove ending was completely different from the rest, and quite frankly there are a lot of us who were not expecting that. It should have been posted IN game. End of discussion.
The announcement upon login was "Moogle Treasure Trove lasts until 6/14 at 7am ET" - nowhere did it say "unlike last time, you can't turn in tomestones after 6/14."
That's all they would have had to say, and I would have never come here.
Sometimes. In this case no, not really. We're just pointing out that it wasn't SE at fault here no matter how anyone spins it, while admitting that there probably wouldn't have been anything wrong with a grace period.
