Xfinity user from Ultros here. I quit out last night it was so bad, and it's happening again today.
Posted last night & posting again. Played all day long (on Spring Break...woot!) with no lag...then around 9:45pm/10pm (central) the lag decides to come back. I eventually was disconnected completely...
Can confirm it is back. Xfinity/Lamia/West Coast
Frontlines is unplayable. Any savage is also unplayable.
Tonight for me is slightly better. Lag is still there, but less egregious than the 2 nights before. But there's still time, lol.
happening to me too, I want to say Square Enix is doing something to their servers, because all is fine until like 10pm EST, which iirc is near start of workday over in Japan?
For the last three days the lags have been starting around this time until it's magically fine again next morning. So I suspect SE doing something o.O
Been having issues since Monday. Sargatanas and Xfinity. Can barely get through Main Scenario roulette, nevermind something challenging. Sample tracerts:

Well I have to say it wasn't near as bad tonight as last night. Only had problems in instances and even then only past 10:00 (central) - was ok before that.
It does sound like SE is doing something, and as I said in an earlier post, this sounds familiar..it seems like the week before a big patch, we see behavior like this. I'd love to think that's the case.
Bumping this thread, 4 people from my raid group, tons of people on reddit + 5-6 people on ffxiv/discord all xfinity/comcast customers.
coming back to say that Lag is still active in the game
I have been having these issues for a while now outside of FFXIV with Comcast. This usually starts around 6-8PM PDT, and ends 2-4AM PDT.
However, recently, it has been happening in FFXIV a lot more.
I don't think its a FFXIV only issue, but routing centers along the way to the server.

Anyway, this affects more than just FFXIV for me, as other data that gets sent through these routing hubs probably has the same problems. However, I am receiving a lot more 90K errors the last two days.
Anyway, hope for a fix soon! Will also contact Comcast.
I've also been having these issues using Xfinity.

Trace complete.
The packet loss starts off at the last hop on Xfinity's network, that hop resolves as be-2211-pe11.350ecermak.il.ibone.comcast.net when I get a response to it.
Has anyone on this thread opened any sort of tech support item with either SE or Comcast? I'm just curious how something like this would get resolved, from a business standpoint.
What would you even DO with Comcast? Call them and say I'm having packets dropped from this hop on my trace?
Does SE even know there's a big issue with one of North America's largest ISPs?
I called Comcast. It was, as expected, a challenge to get the point across and try to convince them it wasn't an issue with my hardware or local area.
They finally escalated the ticket up to their higher support tier who can look at a national / regional issue and see if there's any over-arching problems on their side.
Not sure if/when I'll hear back from them but I'll keep this thread updated on the status as I get it.
I haven't opened anything with SE yet so if someone else wants to go that route?
(still having bad lag of this morning too so it's not gone away)
I've been dealing with lag spikes for a few days.
Players and mobs "lunging" forward, missed AoE cues, missed timers
I was doing the solo fight in Bozja and everything froze for almost 30 seconds. I thought I was going to be DCed for sure.
I live on the east coast and my friend in the west and we've both been experiencing lag spikes, thought we don't have any technical issues with Skype. I swear this starts happening in the days leading up to a patch.
We both have Comcast, so I'm willing to believe its them as well.
Still suffering here, last 3 days, game is nigh unplayable, based in Denmark, EU Chaos - Cerberus.
Raised a ticket this morning with SE, no reply as of yet.
This is more than just a Comcast issue I'm guessing as we don't have that here, no official replies on this issue anywhere?
yeah happens to me too :(

i really hope this can be sorted, seems to get better at night it started happening 2 days ago or so.
For anyone looking for a temporary fix i used Exitlag to remove my latency since it can reroute me through another hub which doesn't give me high ms.
Like I even went through the process of getting a new router and upgraded my plan with comcast; even now it still doesn't work and it's not an issue that lies with my computer either. Day like, 4 or 5 of this happening to me to the point I can hardly even do dungeons without the pokeball appearing next to my name.
Strap in, because it seems this kind of issue either lasts a day, or months.
Also chiming in, half my static last night was having the issue, all of us doing so were on Comcast/Xfinity. Everyone else was fine.
yes, it completly removed the problem i'm stable at 40 - 20 ms now.
Thanks for the recommendation, Exitlag works very well for me too. It's gonna be a great short term resolution for this, as they hopefully fix it eventually, the idea of paying for ISP, subscription and a 3rd party program to reroute, all to just play 1 game isn't all that nice.
your welcome, and i do agree i'm not too fond of the idea of having to pay a secondary sub just to play but i thought i would share anyway since the patch is just around the corner and there might be more like me who would be willing to pay to play without the lag when it comes. ^^
I mean, it's just a VPN. They're very tiny and you enable them instantly. Just make sure you opt for one known for low latency and high speeds. Just about any quality VPN should work for episodes like this, although the fact that it still happens is very unfortunate. Good VPNs are not free. They're not expensive, but I shouldn't have to pay for a solution to a problem that, ostensibly, should be solved by the fact that I pay quite a lot for my expensive internet and then additional money directly to Square Enix. I understand that these kinds of things happen, but this is not the first time, and I wish we had a way to alert them to it besides these forums that may be completely unmonitored as far as we know.
I didn't call in, since I used to work for Comcast, and I know how hard it is to actually get something escalated from a tier 1 representative. I made a forum post on Xfinity's forums, since reps that are a bit more knowledgeable reply to forum posts (sometimes). Maybe if we light this post up with replies, it will get attention? https://forums.xfinity.com/conversat...2c887da0f3e16b
Annnnd the lag is back. As of about 30 minutes ago the lag has returned and it is unbearable. Yesterday night's wasn't as bad and seemed to end relatively early and became playable again. I'm hoping tonight it ends early too but...
The fact that it keeps happening is just completely unacceptable.
Not sure if this is helpful... it may just be coincidence that we are mostly on comcast, after all it's one of the more popular internet providers for the US. Since people from Europe have encountered this it makes me think it's not a comcast thing.
Here's my pingplotter for tonight, while lag is currently occurring right now.
Here's a ping to google.com:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VaC...ew?usp=sharing
And here's a screenshot of pinging the FFXIV Ether server:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wqI...ew?usp=sharing
Seems like to me, it is something on SE's side from those images.
This lag has been happening every night since at least Monday. It's bad enough that I often see everything freeze for more than 3 entire seconds. I don't know how we're supposed to enjoy the new content that's dropping on Tuesday when the connection to SE's servers is so poor.
More lag problem, going to log out for now since I can't do anything with so much lag
daily reminder here that its still lagging... all of my FC are cancelling events due to this.. any MODS here that would require communication please
Lag is confirmed back tonight during prime time around 9pm eastern-12 midnight or so. This seems to really be bad in savage content. I've never had this lag before clearing savages, just started this week. Can the Moderators at least respond to this thread with some sort of information on how this is getting addressed or that it's at least being looked at?
We have the same issue in europe server .
datacenter chaos .
Back to say it's still a problem. It's not as bad as two nights ago but still annoying.
Reporting that the lag is back now on EU Cerberus... all week now
The lag is even worse today.
Yesterday i could at least run dungeons, today i get 20 sec of no one moving and then dc.
