Delubrum Reginae Savage groups - way too exclusive and toxic

I can get the point of not wanting to have to rely on third party tools to organize in the game, but what could SE change? They can't stop people from using Discord. I don't do Bozja so I haven't experienced it. Is it not in Raid Finder/Duty Finder? I suppose that is one place they could put it if it's not an option, so people could attempt PuGs. People who wanted to group by Discord still could.

The normal version is done through the normal matchmaking process (not through the duty finder, but essentially yeah that's how it works). Savage not so much. The savage version of DR has to be formed and organized before anyone steps foot in Bozja. It's only done with pre-formed parties, no matchmaking (not even raid finder).

Given all that and the fact that it's 24 people... not using some kind of software to help organize would be a little nuts.

Not completely outside the realm of possibility. That's how we did it in EQ with 72 people, but that was a game very focused on your guild or your raid alliance. XIV even with FCs doesn't have nearly that focus. But I don't see why they couldn't just toss the matchmaking option out there for those who want to try it. Just say they won't modify the difficulty for any reason and people matchmake at their own risk.

The fight is so casual there's not even a ranking for it on "that" site. Even Extremes have a leadboard!

It's clear that DRS is aimed at casuals, especially when it's behind a casual wall. There's nothing remotely difficult about the fight except for the logistics.

lol MPK you troll these poor folks too much. Although it's true that DRS is nowhere near as difficult as Puremallace is making it out to be, the reason that there are no rankings for it on "that site" apparently has more to do with it being unable to accurately calculate damage in light of all of the actions and stuff being used (there actually were rankings for a short while for DRS on "that site," but they reportedly got taken down because of how wonky the calculations were).

They could, they just didn't. Could also be because of the weird nature of lost actions and party makeup in there.

As for "we used to do it in EQ" yeah... we used to travel long distances by riding horses too. Most of us don't do that anymore. Is it still a valid way to travel? Sure. Are there better ways? Yep.

Well here's some news regarding DR savage. Soon new lost actions and higher resistance rank(which will let you bring in more actions) will help with the fights and also not needing to queue with a full 48 man group, though this will have its downsides (ala no lb3 for a guarantee raise) and the deaths will definitely hurt more in terms of overall dps.

Actually, DRS was briefly ranked on that site. They removed it due to the sheer inconsistency of logs. Between the huge variety of actions, Essences and buffs, numbers were all over the place and not in any way a accurate reflection of job performance. There were also issues with DoTs not being counted, thus jobs like SMN and BRD will hilariously broken.

All in all, it had absolutely nothing to do with the difficult level. Which is closer to entry level Savage than current EX Primals. It's decidedly for midcore not casual if only due to sheer amount of coordination and punishment for failing mechanics.

What are you talking about? There's barely any instant deaths outside of hot and cold and super chess. The DPS check is such a joke that only a few people need to know how to do their rotations properly. There's no instant wipe mechanics outside of slimes and golems. It's still clearable if you have one or two permanent DCs.

There's no mechanic in the fight where it's difficulty is close any of the mechanics at the end of the e9s fight. Even e1s and e5s was harder than all of DRS. They just called it Savage to scare the casuals away when in reality the hardest part about the fight is the logistics.

Err, I do generally agree with your sentiment that the difficulty lies more in coordination than anything else, the fights are clearly more difficult in design than most experts. Id say in practice that TA is a harder fight than e10s from a purely mechanics issue. In e10s, you can fail multiple aspects of that fight and survive, possibly beat enrage. Hot/Cold failure is instant death, and there is always hte every looming threat you dont auto res. And unlike in savage where damage down or vuln stacks drop off, you are stuck with the doom stack until the boss is killed or you get to many and die. So while mechanics are generally not as hard as savage in many cases, it tends to punish you harder for your mistakes in others.

Id say its a step between Savage and Expert Trials.
