This is suspicious, that someone from Brynhildr is telling us to ignore a problem that's been plagueing us for the last week.

Yes all of us from the same data center across multiple different worlds have decided that suddenly we want to create a troll campaign despite the fact that multiple instances of proof that we're having a very real problem that has boiled over to the point where we are coming to the official forums to look for help.
You're either trying to bait us yourself or you're as dense as a rock.
you know what would entertain me? if somehow somewhere, it came down to you being in league with this problem person, I would have a giant laugh. simply because you don't add anything constructive, are clearly baiting responses as well that you are ignoring all facts being given, from multiple members who don't know each other across an entire data center. the fact that you disregard something that is such a giant issue that people that have never felt the need to use the official forums before this which has been a thing for a long time now, with no proper response proves to me how much of a low tier troll you seem to be, my guy/girl.
Hm, I have a character on Adamantoise and a lovely program called Camtasia. I'd be happy to get on as I'm still in the NN and do some recording.
Any particular times this person seems to come on? Late int eh day or weekends, etc?
Thankfully with recordings, I can take screenshots within the chat. I can still get something to use, like dates and times and names and servers. If it is one person doing it over multiple names, if I can capture them, I can at least write them down.
Might as well try. I always keep my expectations low with SE. LOL
Only thing with this, is whoever is doing it could be a completely innocent person who isn't aware it is the same person(at least if the names are completely different - not just a capital here or there instead of where it was before).
I think the only thing that can be done, is submit a ticket for EVERY one that does that. Ensure you have the proper spelling to, with capitals/symbols/whatever where it should be in the name of the offender.
Oh, also he is aware of this thread because he's been spamming the URL for this thread.
Why are you being so dismissive? I find your responses kind of suspicious and disingenuous given how blatantly obvious the workarounds are.
If you'd like to admit you haven't read a single post in this thread, that's cool, just do that. We shouldn't have to point out the dozen or so times where we've said this person is making trial accounts and multiple alts so blacklisting wouldn't work on them..
Additionally, if you have some kind of inane or cynical opinion about whether the novice network is useful or full of toxic mentors or this or that, the fact of the matter is it is in place for a reason and it exists to help new players whether that happens there or not; and to that end it should be supported by SE and the GMs who should moderate it properly. Not "ignore it." That isn't helpful advice, nor should that be the ultimate solution to people being disgusting in a game where they dont have to be and SE and the GMs can exercise control over whether people get to be disgusting or not.
Everyone's posting for the first time because the GMs aren't resolving it. We're bringing attention to it so they resolve it, ban the mentor's account and/or IP ban both him and the person who keeps adding. So maybe you should move on?
IMO there should be a system where saying slurs in a public chat is an automatic, instant account mute and/or ban. Especially for new accounts. Or, they could enable a sort of "slow mode" in the chat for new accounts. Don't know what their code can and can't handle, though.
I have a hunch this guy might just be using a bot of some sort to do the spamming because they're unusually persistent and I've seen it happening pretty much every time of day, even in the dead hours of morning.
Holy shit that is bad. I usually roll my eyes when I see terms like harassment being thrown around, but yeah no, this is well and truly above and beyond any kind of reasonable behaviour.
Wish I could do something to help but I'm both in another dataserver and don't engage with the NN.
Maybe if the novice network and mentor system was an actual useful thing and not some kinda glorified chat room this kind of stuff wouldn’t happen. Instead you all just want your Burger King crowns as a badge of honour. Zero sympathy
I mean, I got my "Burger King Crown" out of a desire to communicate with and help newer players, as that's something I do within my FC as an Officer. To come in and declare that we are unworthy of sympathy purely because some mentors are poor is in extremely poor taste, especially coming from someone on another DC that doesn't have to see this day in and day out. You can make assumptions all you like with the knowledge of your own DC, but without coming to ours and seeing that the bulk of our mentors are well-meaning, all it is is an assumption. I'm positive every DC has crappy mentors, or mentors that have the crown but don't make use of the NN at all, but the ones who do in my server are primarily helpful and polite, if a bit joke-y and meme-y at times. And I think that's okay. I don't think the bulk of us have done anything that would deserve the denial of basic empathy for an exceedingly crappy situation.
If nothing else, think of the impact this has on new players. Someone picks up the free trial, wants to dip their toes in this game that a lot of us seek solace in, just to be greeted by a torrent of slurs and absolutely disgusting behaviour overall. If nothing else, *they* deserve better than that.
I can't speak for other server's, but NN on Adamantoise was great for helping players with useful advice, pointing out how to find stuff out, answering questions, etc (I say 'was' solely due to the fact it's been a long time since I've been on NN, but it's always been helpful when I've been on it - multiple times over the years, and for months at a time). So while there might be a whole bunch of ppl all around who don't care and just want the symbol & mount from it... don't label everyone like that.
Also, you might scoff at Mentor's.... but what about the new players who are basically having their experience ruined by this person? So it's ok for new players to have the game spoiled, to be abused & harrassed just to get at those bad, bad mentors?
Your attitude smells just like the person doing this garbage. Taking a look at what they are saying, what I remember them saying (when I was still in NN on various characters... they've actually been around a long, long time)... exact same rubbish thought as what your saying.

what does your weird cynical and overly zealous outlook on the mentor system and the novice network have to do with someone spamming racial slurs on alt accounts unmitigated? do you have some kind of special insight into this freak's psyche that we don't?
like are you actually going to pretend there was never ever a question asked there that was genuinely asked by a sprout, which was answered by a mentor? why the hell else would it exist, and why does it matter that much to you if mentors end up talking to each other there when there aren't questions to be answered? can you explain in what way, your feelings on the matter aren't just as or far more pretentious than desiring an icon? the crafter one isn't even necessarily hard to get; but they all get access.
and that's giving your thoughts on it like a modicum of credence, which it doesnt deserve in the first place considering the novice network here more or less always answers any question any sprout has asked in it, or eachother's questions, returners, usually politely, etc. other than this one obsessed tool, it's actually a relatively wholesome and helpful network here, so I have honestly no idea what in the world you're referring to
Well it's a good thing that we're not really seeking out the random sympathy of random nobodies with opinions they don't have the experience or the exposure to the problem at hand to effectively comment on but alas when you're trying to light a fire to get attention from on high you're liable to attract moths eager to fling themselves pointlessly into the flame.
I'm not a new poster, and my post history will clearly show I'm not a troll, so if you want to use that as a metric I'll happily confirm everything being stated in this thread is 100% true.
This troll has reportedly been server hoping all around Aether doing the same thing; I have personally witnessed him spamming everything from laundry lists of slurs to personal attacks against people who had the audacity to censure him in the past, to the URL of this thread in the Adamantoise novice network, 5-12 times approximately every fifteen minutes and then immediately leaving before he can be kicked from the channel. He uses multiple accounts which either have random names or names which impersonate channel regulars. It's honestly gone past upsetting, through sad and into hilarious at this point; I'm almost jealous I haven't gotten a mention yet, guess he just can't come up with any way to insult someone as cool as me!
Sounds like the novice network on your server needs some work; maybe you should see what you can do about that before you throw accusations at other people.
OUR NN is typically lively and friendly; a lot of chatting goes on in there (which sprouts often thank us for, since an active channel is less intimidating than screaming questions into the void), but we are more than happy to pause whatever we're talking about if someone asks for help. The regulars have worked hard to build a nice community for both mentors and novices, and to prevent the kind of toxicity the ubiquitous mentor system complaint threads claim is rampant on most servers (there's a reason you never see Adamantoise mentioned in those threads!).
If the channel was a cesspool normally, no one would notice or care about one more troll moving in, but since it's not, obviously we're going to do whatever we can to keep it clean.
As an aside, IIRC they encourage giving feedback regarding GM encounters on the forums, I spoke to one GM Reddipton about the matter the other day, and he was quite lovely and professional. I personally have full confidence he and his compatriots will get to the bottom of this and restore peace to our server as soon as they possibly can.
This CLEARLY has been going on for way too long. To anyone casting doubt here: there are posts with LITERAL proof.
To OP, did anyone bother reporting them? Surely if anyone did by now they would have multiple penalties.
I’ve personally reported this situation multiple times in the last few days, each getting the same response along the lines of “This instance has already been reported, so we’ll only be replying to the initial report made.” I know I’m not the only one on Adamantoise who has reported either, and someone earlier in the thread posted their report history for this as a screenshot, too.
Sounds bad, but I'm not sure what can be done about it if he can keep making free accounts. The only way around it would be to not allow trial accounts onto the novice network, but that would defeat the purpose.
Novice network probably shouldn't be a public chatroom; it should just be an easy way for new players to find mentors and private message them questions or requests for help.
Ultimately what we need is an audit log of who invites who to the NN so we can track who keeps bringing this person in. If we could root out the source of the issue the rest would follow.
Sorry to hear this is happening, Lamia has its own troll who does not harass people. But instead stirs up drama and does not seem to click with why people got a issue with him. Said player has been banned twice and currently is on a third character now haunting the NN. Though it seems that he is starting to realize the error of his ways and causing less issues. Goes without saying there are people playing this game who feel empowered cause they are online or have issues personally that drive them to such behavior.
