Minor Gripes You'd Like To See Changed or Fixed: A Thread

For people with good computers 15 seconds is more thna enought to bridge the gaps in Skalla...for people with potato computers and bad framerates however, it is barley enough to cross them at BEST (even assuming you didn't get the heavy debuff from the mobs). I think it would be a decent QoL change to extend the Transfiguration status to 20-30 seconds for those suck with computers between minimum and recommended specs (or "literally unplayable" and minimum specs if you're not that generous)

I want to refuse to accept old Triple Triad cards from dungeons.

Would probably require they be made untradeable and thus unsellable on the MB (since that is likely the reason the dungeion minions could be gotten in multiples). and possible an increased chance of drop rates.

I can see why they'd leave the bases undyeable, if only becuase of human stupidity leads me to think that otherwise would have the players thinking the the entire thing is dyeable. Granted I wound think having a generic miniature base settings that uses a system like Fashion accs or Bardings would be a solid compromise.

BTW I would also liek the option to have the Stuffed Plush furniture as Fashion Accessories as well as well.

Seriously, though, the point about lofts is huge. Same with standable furniture outside, too (bridges and decks). I hate clipping through things while I'm trying to place them.

Hairstyle on glam plates would be *chef kiss* amazing. Especially for long-haired characters. We know how to put our own hair up SE! I don't need to go to the aesthetician every time I want to put my hair up in a ponytail!

Boy oh boy I'm back with more:

Making the colors in the color picker on the character creator true to form. ESPECIALLY for the hair and lips. What color you select in the color picker often ends up being completely different to the color that shows up on the character model.

Also, why does the highlights option in the hair color menu have more options than the actual base hair color??? That's just bizarre to me. Swap out the highlights/base hair color options in the color menu.

When you remove someone from your friend's list, you are no longer on their list as well.

I hate this too, but the problem is not the color, but the hair texture that the color is applied on, sadly. Making every style using the same texture would destroy them visually, so the only solution I can think about this is plain simply adding MORE color options to pick from, in a way that you can achieve the shade you'd like independently of the style.

The color options - seem - vast, but there are a lot of space to grow, especially when it comes to more vibrant tones. One of the colors I miss most is a true fiery red - the closest you can get is a subdued ginger or a very magenta red.

And speaking of wich, both the lips and the face paint needs, besides Light and Dark, a "Vibrant" option, with actual vibrant shades.

Another thing that bothers me immensely is the blurriness of the Face paint options. I really think they need desperately an upscale, and in some cases even a rework. The painted eyebrow option looks like painted by a toddler with a piece of charcoal.

Actually, and this is not minor, I honestly think the character customization needs a revisit in this game... Unlike WoW, not to actually change model proportions or animations, but to add to what already exist and maybe adjust some jarring things (e.g Miqo male claw-hands). XIV character customization aged well, but honestly, the only thing we have in abundance are color choices and hairstyles. If you subtract that, you'll end with characters looking very similar due to the limited options.

Since it's kind of far-reaching to wish upon actual sliders (best case scenario), I'd wager for simply more options across the board. Below is a brainstorm of what we could have:

1) Vibrant colors added to the color pickers;

2) At least 2 new faces for everyone;

3) More tail models for the applicable races;

4) Streamline face features. There are a lot of inconsistencies, for example. Miqo male face 4 got permanent eye corner tattoos, while for face 1 that is a toggleable option?

5) More eye, eyebrow, mouth and nose shapes across the board;

6) Miqo'te ears separated from the hair - I mean the darkened texture that some have and some don't;

7) Au Ra horns separated from the faces, also 2 more options over there;

8) A 15% size increase/decrease on both ends of the height slider;

9) Stubble for male races, and overall more beard shapes;

10) Checkbox to use a secondary face paint option, letting you stack 02 of them;

11) Not every Highlander male is Gyr Abanian... They need to have eyebrows if they want to without having to resort to the ugly face paint option;

12) Add the combat voices to the voice samples;

13) Streamline the accessories over the hairstyles. Why have the same style 4x when you can just have a separate panel to pick from the accessory color? Good opportunity to add color options to all the other hair accessories that don't have them;

14) We could have more armor previews, like the ones in the Lodestone;

15) Viera and Hrothgar everything - Just look at the countless threads about them;

I'd like for our community representatives to post here more frequently.

As we got through many expansions now, and explored a lot of Eorzea, we got to realize that not every race comes from the same place. Not every Sea Wolf is a La Noscean pirate, not every Seeker of the Sun comes from the Tribe Letter culture. There are many examples from ingame NPCs with name conventions from specific nationalities.

My suggestion in this post is for the character creation screen to support this, and add the option to name your character if in lore there's a possibility for them to hail from certain place. It also makes sense because in the intro cutscenes, it's completely up to interpretation - and never explained from - where the WoL comes.

Examples:
- A Miqo'te Seeker of the Sun may have the option from generate their names from a Thavnairian name database;
- A Sea Wolf might have the option to generate their names from either a Bozjan or Far Eastern name database;
- A Midlander would probably have the most options out there, ranging from Ishgardian name to Dalmascan;

Oh, I thought f another thing I would love to see changed. Since we have a ‘slot’ for things like the parasol, I wish SE would separate items like the wings on the “Angel” costume body piece. There are so many glamours I want to have just the wings with, or even just the robe. But they are linked and you cannot wear one without the other. Wings in a special slot alone would be amazing.

It's still unforgivable that Hrothgar can't wear most hats.

Mod makers have figured this out SE, get to it.

I'd settle for another lore post in the forums like they have for all the other races on their naming conventions. I refer back to the Miqo'te one in particular ALL the time for the pronunciation of the tribe prefixes (C' versus K' versus Q' always gets me mixed up) and I'd love to know more about the naming conventions of the First. We have very little to go off of except for phonetic visibility (using the Tholls and Goggs for example, the -itt and -ogg suffixes being common) and perhaps some inferences we can make (Dulia-Chai taking her surname from husband Chai-Nuzz's first name, for example, and some other common suffixes among the Mystel) and I'd love to see them go more in depth about it.

Having got a friend who absolutely loves modding, and been playing this game since beta, I have had plenty of opportunity to see minor but important fixes, though given the recent UI dev's interview boiling down to "No" or "No because it might require effort" I have a sneaking suspicion most of these will never be implemented.

A lot of this thread has been said already so i wont cover them, so here's some more.

Colour wheel or rgb values I find it very difficult to believe that this would not be an easy change given how the colours are programmed on an RGB value for the texture squares.

Scrap faded copies of music Unneccessary crafting

Materia and dye tabs I shouldn't need an entire retainer just to store all the different materia items

Remove gear durability If data is a concern, just ditch this. It adds nothing.

Remove the blue crystal filter on character edit/creation This almost cost me a fantasia when I got the wrong skin tone, thankfully I noticed this and quickly made an alt with my wip settings to test if it was the tone I wanted (It wasn't, selected a green up and right)

Restore removed actions and cross class even if we can't use them in raids They filled the gap in levelling kits, and allowed for job customisation. It was great fun.

Update glamour so all jobs can use them Another thing that makes little sense.

Standardise the ARR and HW markers Self explanatory

Make chocobo colour less frustrating Or at least give a catalogue of different colours we can give them. I shouldn't have to go on an hour long internet search.

Search options in the fish guide and more information on bait, include it in search by gathering method This is a pain to do so, finding if I had caught a certain fish for a recipe, only to discover I hadn't.

Make crafting items that require scrips or treasure hunt be marked Similar to the above, trying to locate some items is an exercise in frustration.

Up the height sliders, bust sizes, tail sizes for the races Tall female Xaela are surprisingly popular idea. Most races shouldn't be roughly the same height either. The taller races in particular would change depending on their age. These are just values to the X, Y and Z axis that can be updated.

Fix the graphical issues on Au Ra horns and limbal rings These shouldn't have made it through QA. The former is merely a layer thats misaligned, you can fix it very quickly. The latter is possible to do in about 10 seconds. Just draw the circle, then make a smaller one with the erase tool. Done.

Make the book stage of the level 50 relic weapon be possible to carry more than one book at a time This stage is absurdly long even after all these years. This single change would be a huge improvement.

Change Sephirot's mount to use his theme Self explanatory.

Change old raid tokens to a generic equivalent I know Yoshi-p wants us to throw them away, but sometimes these old tokens are kept to gear levelling jobs, to buy glam or as mementos

Make alliance raid gear purchasable with tokens Some of the old raids are cheesed and never pop up in duty finder. So getting the glams are impossible. It would also sort out the perpetual bad loot rolls some people get.

Make alliance raid require full ilvl gear to queue for, and put CT into MSQ roulette Fixing this exploit would be a boon

Make matched parties queue for dungeons in the highest level dungeon available So me at 67, a gnb at 68 and two level 80s queue into levelling, what do we get? Satascha... ffs.

This, so much. Not about the background, but the filter itself is pretty annoying. That is supposed to be the "neutral" screen, yet there's nothing neutral about it. I think I've consumed up to 10 Fantasias during my game lifespan just to correct mistakes I couldn't live with. That together with hating the combat voice I chose.

This suggestion will probably flame me to a crisp, but I would love a PERSONAL damage meter.

Or at least some kind of DPS "Performance" meter... An UI element that goes red>yellow>green depending on how well you're pulling the numbers for your ilvl, something for me to keep my wits about when running actual content, not that Wind, Earth and Fire dummy target thing. It does not help at all in actual dungeon/raid situations, where there are a lot more things to worry about.

Here's another thought I had: Child Lalafell models. The only canonical child of a Lala I can think of seeing off the top of my head is the girl from the Cliffhanger GATE in the Gold Saucer, and she looks no different from an adult Lala. We have kid models of all the other races save the two new ones, I'd be interested to see how they'd make a baby Lala actually look like.

According to lore, children lalafell are pretty much the same height as their adult counterparts. Case in point, there's another npc in the world thats a 12 year old popoto and he's being chastised by his roegydyn partner for smoking and whinging about work before his 13th summer

its also canon that its hard for non popotos to tell a popotos approximate age at a glance

Add an extra second to Hypercharge, Berserk, Inner release and Delirium QOL change so its possible to get 5 hits without melding materia for those on high ping connections. It wont give 6 hits at 11 seconds
Give everyone a lean back emote in chairs I don't want to look like I'm gonna fall off any moment!

Change DRK's running and draw stances The angles of these look like on the shorter talls and lalafells they will trip themselves up.

Change Verflare's sound to exdeath's flare and scorch to something more impactful Both of these sound like dull thuds, the latter being very diifficult to hear mid combat.

Save hairstyles to glamour plates I really like my circlets on some glams, but my hairstyle hides them. This would save me a lot of time.

Id like to see SE actually add hildas hair. There so no good ponytails or long hairstyles except for what npcs have. I want to know why they decided to add another mullet that has a headband, which (aside from the headband) is a literal copy of an existing hairstyle- what the heck is that laziness about?
yet, whoever designs the hairstyles will not add any female requested styles OR female npc hair.
I am convinced they're incredibly out-of-touch when it comes to hairstyles & costume/ armor/ outfit designs. The best armor to have been released recently was the Neo-Ishgardian set & it was designed for a contest.

Another gripe is the housing. Aside from how ugly neighborhoods are in FFXIV because SE thought it was a good idea to let players have house designs outside of their district -Im looking at everyone who uses a Shirogane themed house anywhere outside of Kugane. I'm here to tell you, your house is an eyesore.
But I'm 100% convinced whoever created the indoor decorating placement has never attempted to play their own design, because if they were, it would have been fixed long ago. It takes tons of glitches & 3rd party programs to fix the mistake that is housing item placement.

Another gripe is the boring & lackluster character creator. Why introduce half-elezens when you won't even add them to character creator? No, instead SE would condemn all mods (like the ones that make you a half-elezen or give you long hair) rather than listen to their player base & update their limited, out-dated & lackluster character creator.

I think thatl is a fully grown lalafell pretending to be a kid. All part of the scenario they are projecting to get the customer invested.

Can also consider the Bunshin change, of having x number of weaponskills, allowing them to make the buff longer without a risk of allowing you to get in more attacks than intended. Not sure if they are worried about WAR getting two free Onslaughts or something but I am sure they can find a solution... Anything better than straining people with higher pings.

This is absolutely unacceptable, that it's not already a thing. You pay money for something, you should be able to use them on ALL your characters.

Please remove the limit of people allowed on your blacklist. I have so many bots on my blacklist cuz I'm sick of seeing their phishing spams, but I have to go through periodically and remove some because for every bot I blacklist there are 5 more and it's infuriating

Elezen proportions.

I don't mind a more willowy, elegant looking race but their proportions look more like an oversight than something that was originally done on purpose.

Increase the drop rate of Field Notes in Bozja. I shouldn't have to contend with a mount's drop rate for lore on the characters I'm interacting with in the story.

Imagine if you only would know who Alphinaud and Alisaie were if you had to get 99 EX Totems.

Not action like wash hands or interact with housing items. When I use a crafting station it should override my items and make it look like I'm using the crafting station.

Take out the confirmation entirely, which is enough for most of these
Take out the reason for the confirmation, IE not dropping keys for a door like 5 steps away
Make better user experience, like if this takes you somewhere, make the way back wherever it sets you

I don't mind having to interact with items but this is dead on. I got the key why would I choose not to use it after I already click on the item that needs it. It only has 1 user or doesn't break in turn has 2 uses.
Or make them Key items. So after you pick them up once you don't have to again.

Nerf the older relic again.
almost finished a level 60 relic. Books and light and 60 light farming take to long at this point. I've gotten 33 Nidhogg done trying to cap my light I will have my last mount bird before I do my next relic.
At light to all content, not just 50/60 content. Lower the cost of relic items for politics. Add a bonus to the crystal sand step/ make it 6 to 12

I can't remember if I added it to this thread or not, but.... please, SE, let me relive my wedding. Even if it's unpopulated by other attendees, I want to have those memories in the Unending Journey :<

Let us preview unlockable Hairstyles, maybe? They already come with the "Requires [Insert name here]" addendum so...

Unfortunatelly it's just an optical illusion. My lalafell is maximum height and she is minimum. And she sits much lower, when you sit near her you float in air.

Me again, back with another gripe: more orchestrion rolls please? Specifically these ones. I love the moogle music for the beast tribe and the lyric-less version leading up to the moggle mog fight (I think on the soundtrack it's called The Seven Jesters) and I want to play them in my FC house.

Another thing SE needs to address because its unacceptable at this point.
When are Viera players going to have access to mogstation head items & hairstyles?

A gripe is why don't casters or healers have access to hoods like the Copied Factory hoods ninja & mch/bard hoods? In lore all across any fantasy game, mages can wear hoods. Not in FFXIV apparently unless you're the exarch.
I get why things are exclusive but there's no reason to not provide the player base with other designs similar to what NPCs have.
It just feels like SE pretends to listen to the player base.
