Seriously SE should stop NOW pretending and come up with all the silly pseudo technical limitations excuse for the incompetency in the Housing system. 720 houses gone in 10 mins. Only 12 wards in a game with thousands of active players is a drop in the ocean. Start increasing the wards now. There is no BUT and IF anymore. We need more wards in all areas now. Not just Shirogane. And 1-2 wards extra won't cut it. It needs double the amount of what we have now. Stop it already SE. Enough is enough.

The housing system is just a kick in the groin of the majority of the playerbase. We all pay our subs to get access to the same experience. If we manage to gather up enough Gil, there should be nothing in our way to buy a plot. If housing had no gameplay influence it wouldn't even be so bad but gardening, air ships and all that stuff? Are you kidding me? There is no excuse for this since there are dozens of ways to handle it better. Maybe they should get rid of wards all together and start instancing one adjustable plot for everyone.

I've actually been complaining about it for a very long time. Why? Because I've seen friends quit playing because of this. The stress for months that we all went through in anticipation for this, it's kinda bs. For something we're paying for, and housing being advertised to us as a thing we can have.. when there are so many people who go without.. and hoarding is allowed.. It's bs.

Agreed.
Even if they added enough for every player on the server, as long as hoarding is allowed, many will go without. The system needs a revamp desperately.

Kinda sad, we worked together in FC almost every weekend to gather money and viola! we have enough for L house,
I was sitting in front of the PC for hours, waiting for the server to come up,
YES! my game launched under 30 seconds after server was up annnnd lobby error + the game closed down
restarted the launcher twice to get into the character page just to see ~1700 queue
got in and all housing gone, most of them are individual house.

good things my FC mates are all supportive and cheered me up. but then again, I felt like I could have got them a house if it wasn't for that error.
not gonna lie, it took a heavy blow in my stomach to see the money that was supposed to be used to upgrade the FC's hangout place,, just lying around in FC chest for idk,, maybe forever?

sure we can have fun and hang out together in a small cottage, but oh well, it could have gone better.

This is the larger issue. Even if there was enough housing for every person on every server you'd still have people left out because you have situations like 'oh I bought a house and my in game husband bought a house, and then we bought a third house to share' or that one story that was floating around at some point about the two people who bought up 18 lots and made their own 'village' in a ward. I'm of the mind it should have been one house per account if they're allowing private housing. All your characters have access to it and the features but you can't squirrel away multiple lots.

The question is, if they were going to not plan ahead and prepare enough wards or make it unlimited... why bother start this at all honestly?

They act like they are caught in a loop sometimes. I sometimes wonder what is giving them these ideas.

Even double or triple the number of wards wouldn't be enough. There are only 72 large plots per district. It's ridiculously stupid to keep the wards at this point. I don't care if you like looking at your neighbors empty houses. everyone deserves a chance to enjoy housing and if that means no more wards then I'm all for it.

SE needs to get their shit together on this issue because it's dumb as hell that this is still a problem at this point.

I am not really sure why SE does not understand that a good housing system could motivate quite a lot of people to play the game for a longer time. Make the future wards for FCs only (and restrict that to still one house per account) and give personal players instanced houses..I mean we as the WoL did quite much for Eorzea and yet a lot of the players are still homeless..so they could even tie a quest behind this. Give us a small one as a start and let us increase it on our own will with time and/or Gil. Also let us be able to purchase multiple houses in different zones (should not be a problem if its instanced). With that people that love the content will have so much to do, it will awake the market for housing items again, you will not only create seasonal housing items for a small bunch of players and more.

Also stop advertising housing as some big part of the game if you cant even give everyone the chance to own one. (Only restriction should be the Gil..nothing more) This would be like having one mount that you use as a selling point for the game but that you completely forget to mention that only the first x amount players will ever own it..

Pretty much what I did. I didn’t do anything on mine until this morning when I woke up. It was just a vacant lot for hours. Didn’t want to make decisions while I was dead tired and regret them the next day.

I stock piled enough money for a large house. Wake up early (jeeze these updates end at 4am). Look at all the house areas... 22 small open. Why the hell are there so many small plots if it's 50mil for a big in a game where you only really have to spend money on housing. I find a nice spot in the Kagore area and 80% of all lots are single owners. I'm trying to buy a big place for fc mates that quit due to lack of housing and want to decorate the main area. If you have 20 people wanting to decorate a small house they can have about 5 items each, and that's before the nearly obligatory NPCs. And the very limited gardening option. The small house are "cute" if you like cottages... We would be okay with instanced housing if we could get the large garden.

even if SE decided to do something about the housing wards , who will know if the people who unsubbed will come back or not for it? :P

Really, there should be a cap. Like 1. You can get 1 personal and an FC house. That’s it.

Why would anyone think anything on SE end will change. This will be ignored for a few days and people will move on and SE will pretend their is no issue. Status quo.

You have a couple choices as a consumer. Accept, hope, or make your voice heard outside of the game. Maybe get that snack shoveling columnist from Kotaku to stop cherry coating the game situation. Or do what other regions have done and adjust scores on review sites. They are happy you are here complaining. Make your voice heard to potential customers. You don't have to unsub to make companies make a change.

I'm not really angry about people having personal house, but I'm upset with the fact that this content is inaccessible by a lot of players.
if possible yeah, just make an instance house where people can teleport to your house from friendlist, maybe keep the wards for FC so a lot of people get a place to hang around?

It comes down to money, so, add a third ward selection to the current page, So we'd have: Plots 1 to 30, Plots 31 to 60 (as we currently have with Wards 1 to 12) now add Plots 61 to 90.

Make the page with Plots 61 to 90 only purchasable with a new service from the Mog Station, set up like the retainer service so you select an available Plot from the list, depending on size you could charge players like $2 extra per month for a Cottage, $4 for a Medium and $8 (just example) for a Mansion, once a ward is full the next opens up. This will make it so each plot will get used, people that just want a plot will get one for however long they pay, if you stop paying you loose access to it and its added back to the pool to buy.

Please don't go on about how its not fair, some of us pay more than that for a bunch of retainers. Its called options, 10.000.000 players and only 190.080 house plots total in this game across 66 worlds. Why this isn't even an option, just imagine the revenue this could make. You don't have to use any services, its your choice.

Excuse me but, why should someone pay real money for something everyone else got cause they got lucky for free? What kind of a solution is that?

Everyone is paying the same sub, thus everyone should get the same fair treatment as long they put the same effort. Housing is a feature that they advertise, which means everyone should be able to get a house once they meet the conditions required for it, in this case pay gil. What you are suggesting is just them cashing out on a problem they created themselves. It's like next level fraud. If you wanna make housing for real money, then it's only fair that ALL housing should be for real money.

They don't wanna add more wards cause of server? Then remove all the features that the housing offers which are Workshop, gardening, Vendors and so, put those things in instanced area that everyone can access and use. Now that would make the only reason you want a house is just purely a place you wanna hangout at and decorate.

I would happily pay for a plot if I had a chance to. I'm still hoping for a system comparable to what they did with apartments, only for houses of different sizes, maybe even including a small front side for gardens. I don't need my house to be outside in the open for everyone to see. It's nice, sure - but not mandatory.

I would pay only if the paid houses have improved features

Well for a start its an idea for people who actually don't care to pay, its a choice.

It wouldn't affect you either way as you wouldn't be paying as your not interested in that kind of system.

What if this system was in place and i decided to release some of my houses, and I own multiple houses on multiple characters, and elected to then pay with my subscription the extra cost, that would free up some plots for others to buy with Gil for example.

I second OP. This has gotten out of hand, the more people debate on the issue the higher the chance they'll hear us.

But lets be honest, we'd get more out of recruiting NA players that know Japanese to translate all the poignant threads and messages and stick it in the japanese forum imho.

But, that's capitalism in a nutshell. You probably could have negotiated him to whatever you had since you had 4x the cost (Something like 200M?)

Of course, it's also bannable. Watch that plot closely, I doubt he sold it. If he's trying to flip it then it's bannable and he can be reported, then the plot will be demolished.

Idk, everybody (SE and customer knew for about half a year now, that the 720 plots won't be enough for every player, especially with moving feature introduced.
Everybody knew that only 720 people max will get a new house way before yesterday.
Everybody knew it's like a lottery.

This feels a bit like complaining towards Apple at Iphone Release Day because everything is sold out, although they stated 6 months in advance that they can only produce 500 pieces.

Sure, the housing system might need to be altered... but raging after the only possibel outcome everyone knew about arose..
is like accepting the current system but just being upset because it was one self being unlucky and not someone else.

This is really the only reason I am slightly miffed about housing. I would have loved a plot in Shirogane but I had other commitments that meant I couldn’t log in once the servers went live after maintenance. In the end as Shirogane was full (by 12pm GMT) I opted to buy a small plot in the Lavender Beds which will suit me just fine as I can share it with a couple of friends.

However, I have friends who play this sporadically around jobs, kids, caring for elderly relatives etc and in one case even being an overworked social worker. I do feel like it’s a shame that people who cannot currently get a house might never be able to own one at all because of the awful way the system has been set up.

I play on Zodiark, went around all the housing wards looking for an empty plot and yesterday was the first time in at least 6 months I’ve actually even seen an empty plot. I just feel for the people who want a house and can’t get one =/

Are you kidding me? F2P games that had housing had been able to create a better system for housing and had server running fine. SE is basically charging you for extra retainers, selling tons of cosmetics on mog station, skip potions "catch up with friends (lol)", boost potions, and now even retainers potions! Not to mention all those campaigns they did that I'm pretty sure by what I saw, it got them tons of money.
Do I want a house? hell yea I do. Do I have one? Nope and I refuse to pay x10 the price to someone to get a house as I should be able to pay the same as they did to get theirs. Would I pay money for a house? Nope, I already pay them sub and I bought some stuff off mog station. I think I supported them enough based on my budget.

The only thing that MIGHT make me consider paying for a house is if I can get it right after payment, it's permanent and I won't lose it, pay only once, and I can customize EVERY little detail of it and is bigger than L size.

Was this the plan from the beginning?

Reality Check:

A. There is 0% chance that Yoshi and the devs don't already know that demand for housing is many, many, MANY times higher than supply.

B. There is also no chance that they don't know how upset everyone is about housing, considering the player base has been complaining about it since housing was released.

C. Demand for housing could be eased by improving instanced apartments, but this has not been done (and could be done so relatively easily).

D. The number of people that are going to cancel their subs over housing is asymptotically 0. Housing is not going to affect their revenue stream.


The chances of us seeing any improvement to housing are not good. The outcrys will mostly blow over in a week or two and Square can go back to making outfits to sell on the Mog station for real money.

And the Shirogane fiasco will repeat once again even with 16 wards. Because they insist on making plots available at 3am when servers come back from maintenance, instead of moving it to another time when they're 100% sure players are able to log in.
And because they won't limit alts from having a house. Unless they make it so that everyone can have a house, people will continue to resell plots.

It's an absurd amount of gil that no one should be made to pay, and it makes it even more unfair to other players who would do anything to get a house.

People should ofc be allowed to have alts, but you can have all classes, gathering, crafting and battle on one single character. In theory you only need one char, ergo only one house. Unless you have other people playing on your account ofc and they want their own personal house. But alts should be able to share the house with the main, as in make the alts tenants. You only need one house then. Atm you can't add your alts as friends, but it would be nice if they implement that you at least can add the chars on your account as tenants, then a lot of houses can be free for other ppl.

Which time exactly? With the timezones being what they are the right time will only be right for one continent. Admittedly there are problems with the housing system (I got my house in Shirogane but I understand the problem). But the release time can't be blamed. There is no correct answer for that.

Most people are upset it is when servers go live. The time sucks, but its the time servers go live that sucks more. If it was anytime after login had stabilized people would still be mad just less.
