Take your time. You'll get there eventually. If not this expansion then the next because you are constantly getting more jobs to high level ranges. Don't be afraid to swap between every job if they start to feel boring. There is no rule that you have to do them one by one. The level ranges can start to be boring as well so if you have jobs at different levels you can pick more freely.

And I can't stress this enough. If you have goals to complete other content which gives xp then make sure to complete those goals before everything is capped. That way you are not wasting time on leveling and you actually finish other things in game. I cringe at the thought of farming bicolor gemstones or wolf marks, leveling trusts, completing Yokai or beast tribes and doing PotD/HoH/Bozja with capped characters.

If you really dislike a job or two, you have the option to do daily Frontline challenges on other jobs. The xp goes to whichever job you queue with even if you swap jobs inside the instance. Occasionally you can dump all the wolf marks on a hair style or a minion, which is pretty neat.

I got a "slight" burnout feeling after 5.0 launch, because I was supposed to be the crafter for Eden Savage (thus crafter gear). I leveled up all crafters and gatherers in less than a month (plus the 5 jobs I play the most). This also made me completely skip on Ishgard because I have no incentive to do anything there, I am max level and I can buy the things I want off the market board. I also felt Qitari and Dwarf dailies were a chore more than anything.

Getting all jobs to 80 (starting from 70 as I did them all in StB) took me perhaps 8 months... I just did daily roulettes / Pixie quests, a few FATEs and the occasional dungeon when I felt like it, I ditched the Trusts completely because I ended up outlevelling them too quickly.
I think I remember finishing my last 70 job in Stormblood right before or after HoH came out, so I did not really use this as a level up tool either back then. So in the end there is no rush, it comes up quite quickly by itself when you do the bare minimum.

If someone just wants the amaro they really have to level every single combat job to 80. Role quests have nothing to do with getting the amaro. Doing all the role quests and Shadow Walk with Me gets you an achievemnt and a title. And some lore on the Warriors of Darkness of course. Plus some neat extra at the end of 5.2

Huh? The amaro mount is from the achievement A Life of Adventure IV for getting all DoW and DoM jobs to level 80. Leveling only 3 jobs is nowhere close to meeting the requirement. Are you confusing it with mentor status requirements leading to the eventual mentor mount Astrope after completing 2000 mentor roulette runs?

You always burn out eventually, I have all jobs maxed and let me tell you it's easy to level them with beast tribes and levelling roulette every day. Sure it takes some time but its doable. I think this game is good in terms of stuff to do but still has a large room for improvement in terms of creating actual interesting content.

Like everything, I just space out things and give daily goals for myself. But I think people don't realize just how much exp you can get just by doing dailies. Do all roulettes that give exp, do beast tribes, daily hunts, and then do a fate or two if you're very close to the next level. After I did those for the day, I would maybe run one dungeon revelant to my level, then I'd stop for the day and go do something else. It was even easier to do this in ShB because I got everything to 70 prior in Stormblood.

I find it funny though that I've run into people that think I have no-lifed it or I'm stupid leveling things I dont main.

I have an alt I work on besides my main, that's one thing that helps me, that and I just play through the burnout cause I can't find a game that keeps my attention like ffxiv does.

Lately I've been learning to craft so I'm working on learning crafting, who knows maybe I'll try raiding one day.

It’s just slow and steady really. I typically cap everything about a 1/2 way into an expansion...so that’s plenty of time really to enjoy. The 1-50 is very slough, but it’s infinitely easier now with PotD and other options. Really it’s just... level with different things as you go..and do what you want to do as you want. Wanna do roulette today? Ok. Beast tribes another? Pvp? Not like there’s a rush or even a need to play every day.

Don’t feel like you have to lock into one job at a time. Just do whatev’s.

To the people who say don't do it. It has one advantage. If everything is capped you can really shrink down the amount of gear you have. Some people don't care aout what gear they inflict on others so its ok to have level 27 ring at 49 because it is just too much hassle to have different rings for each dps since they don't all fit in ring inventory space.

Yeah, I realized later when I was driving to work. In my defense, it was early and I hadn't quite woken up yet.

I managed to get them all to 70 during stormblood. Since my taste varies , and stormblood battle system was top notch , i had fun leveling all of them. True it gets tedious at points , like HoH and potd , but some music helps. Funnily enough i substituted the deep dungeon music with music from the rest of the game, when i got burned out from that i put other music, from metal to jazz to some anime ops to devil may cry music. If i couldnt find a song i wasnt burned out i would substitiute with normal youtube videos and hear it out.
However i struggled a bit to get my grinding hype during shadowbringers , partially cause i do not like the gameplay changes they did to most of the jobs, partially cause i got burned out a bit.

Also in your defence, completing the four role quests would have made perfect sense as the requirement to get the amaro mount. :(

By going slow.

I've been playing since ARR's beta and while I did level other jobs up, it was a bit of a slog back then and so I never really tried to get them to cap. This kinda carried on through HW and SB. The delay in release schedule has given me more time to catch up and I feel like I will soon have all my battle jobs at cap for the first time ever. On the playstyle side of things, well, I always try to keep an open mind about it. I have my preferences (WHM/DNC), but as far as battle jobs are concerned, I'm not really the kind of person who absolutely detests a certain playstyle. I guess that's kinda why it was easy for me to jump from WHM to DNC when ShB dropped... I play the job, not the role. That also helps deal with any encroaching burnout as I kinda log and just rotate through them.

Crafting and gathering is another story. Those I can do without. I just don't find them fun. At all. The only reason I level any of em up is when there's something I like locked behind... whatever crafter/gatherer activity it happens to attached to. I just put on a podcast and tune out of the gameplay.

You can shrink down the amount of gear even more by not bothering to level jobs you're not interested in or don't enjoy, and discarding the gear for those jobs. Why keep what you're not going to use and can't be glamoured over other gear set types?

A player can always visit the MB or a vendor later if they decide to start leveling one of those jobs.

It's a matter of taking your time with it. For me, I didn't even get all my classes to 80 until recently in patch 5.3. Varying what you do to level your classes also helps.

Like most players in the thread are saying, its about pacing yourself. I aim for capping all of my jobs before a new expansion arrives, which gives me 2 years time to achieve that. At the start of an Expansion, it's all about completing the MSQ and leveling 1 job of each role, which i prefer to play. That way i'll always be flexible when it comes to running content. Then I focus on clearing the 8-man raids when they are released and gathering gear at the same time.

Once we're in an uneven numbered (catch-up) patch, i tend to level other jobs, focusing on the jobs for which i've already collected gear. This will make the leveling process a lot easier. Over the course of 5.0, i've cleared Eden's Gate Savage on my Sargatanas (Aether) character. But, due to the fact my Static broke up, i needed to find a new one. Since i found one was an Cerberus (Chaos) and only had a DPS Spot available, i had to level a DPS on a relatively new character (only completed Heavensward at that time) and learn the job to run Savage with it. So, i shifted my focus on that and put my Sargatanas character on the back burner.

After clearing Eden's Verse Savage on Cerberus, i got in contact with an old ARR friend who was playing on Phoenix (Light). I leveled a completely new character from 1 to 80 and got through the MSQ in 6 in-game days. Afterwards, i leveled a 2nd job (to be flexible). At the same time, i leveled 1 job of each role and all of the Crafters & Gatherers to 80 on my Cerberus character (to be even more flexible on that character).

Now, during 5.3, i got had time to focus on my Sargatanas character again and i'm working on capping all of my jobs (including BLU, Crafters and Gatherers). I'm almost there, since i just need 3 more levels on my NIN, 9 on my DRG, 10 on BLU and 5 on CUL.

This was doable, because i was running different kinds of content in between leveling (even though they were on different characters on different datacenters).

Yep, and the easiest way to do that is to level a tank and a SCH/SMN

I had the advantage of starting the game back at ARR release, which meant that for each expansion I was only leveling my jobs ten levels (a few more for the new jobs). That said, even if I WERE leveling every job from scratch now, I'd do it the same way I do it now: gradually. Dungeon Roulette and Trial Roulette every day, Beast Tribe quests when available, and not much else. Maybe some FATEs while waiting for my queue to pop. I don't touch Main Scenario roulette - the exp is great, but I only have so much tolerance for the unskippable cutscenes. I don't do Palace of the Dead or Heaven on High (though this is partly because ALL of my jobs were capped at the times each of these was released) - or anything "grindy", for that matter. There's no rush. The game's not going anywhere.

Form habits. Do a few activities every day, and no more (and no less). Keep it up, and your jobs will all be leveled in due time!

Crafting and gathering jobs are similar. They don't have dungeons for leveling, but doing daily Grand Company turn-ins (especially HQ turn-ins) and Guildleves will earn you an absurd amount of exp. It helps to GENUINELY ENJOY crafting, which I fortunately do, but not eveyrone can manage. Gathering... I find less enjoyable, but even when straight grinding gathering jobs level much more quickly than combat jobs do (especially fishing). Anyway, you shouldn't have to grind, or at least not much; assuming you craft and gather your own items, if you do each Guildleve ONCE, and do GC turn-ins every day, your crafting and gathering jobs will level soon enough. I make it a personal goal to craft at least one of every item - but am rarely able to do so before the turn-ins and Guildleves bring me to cap.

Learning the classes I don't play often while leveling is interesting.
I felt no burn out.

Also SE keeps making it easier and easier to level up. Giving us better and better ways to level and more reasons to do the things.
So it's not like it took very long.

I know it is optional. It is simply my goal at the moment, I didn't even know you got a mount or anything. It is no different from wanting all the lookout points, or max reps with the beast tribes. The char I am doing it with, not Doloria here, is on one of those double xp worlds and I thought hey, I can do this here a lot easyer then on a normal server. I know no one on it, though my wife started a char on here to she dosen't play as much as I do. The char in question has pld,war,smn,sch,whm,blm. The blm I just got today. I now get to do melee dps and ... archer. I can't get drk or gnb or ast, dnc on him because I have not gone into heavensward yet. I am not doing crafters til I can get to Ishgard.

The main problem has been arr is such a slog. Playing and leveling these classes has given me new insights to their needs. How they attack, how they defend, etc. I think this will be invaluable when I am playing my main It is sort of like doing raids. You can watch videos and read guides til the cows come home. You are not going to learn everything til you get blasted to bits by some mechanic and play the raid.

Oh I got burned out alright, but I keep coming back because I legit love this game and find it fun.
But yes, the early leveling experience is kind of a slog, but once I got to level 50, I got excited because thats when extra leveling avenues open up, Thats when you get access to more roulette. And I dont know why, but for me once I got my Ironworks gear, quing as a DPS wasn't that bad anymore. Occasionally I got insta-ques, sometimes I waited no longer then 7 minutes. And at the time I got Praetorium ALL the Time, so my leveling experience was mostly positive....Once I got past level 50. Before that, oh my GOD @_@
I guess my main motivation was the Titles, I loved "Grandmaster of ---" and such. Then in ShB its "Soul of ---" Plus you get a mount :D

Also, I wanted to see how every Job played out. I wouldn't know if I truely disliked a job if I didnt actually play it.
Gave me an excuse to play the game more, plus all the dungeons, quests, and roulette got me QUITE the Fortune of Gill :D

Short version: It only burnt me when it was a job I didn't like or care about, but I wanted the amaro, and now I don't want to see PoTD ever again.

I have almost every DoW/DoM leveled (don't have MCH, PLD and GNB--I don't like tanking and BRD is my ranged physical DPS) and I don't get burn out because I'm mostly in it for fashion. Fantasia's ensure that I don't get bored. There's also decorating the FC house, my chambers, my house and my apartment. And I like doing content too.

Leves are the best way to level in the lowered end content--until you hit 16 then just do leveling and hunt log (or repeated runs in the highest level instanced content you can do--keep some simple, cheap food in your inv and make sure if you have any exp boosters like the ring from the Smiths quest and or earrings from preorders (the bonus stacks) then keep those on).

The real challenge is inventory trying to keep all those jobs adequately geared XD.

I don't have everything at 80, but I do have most there. For me, the biggest thing is just taking my time. If I'm enjoying a job, I'll push it to 80 but even then it will mostly be through daily stuff (beast tribes, roullettes) and weeklies (challenge log). Once I run out of things to do "for the day" I just put the job down and maybe hop on my main job for a bit if I still feel like playing. Sure it doesn't get done quickly but I don't want to get a job to 80 by sheer force of will only to never feel like playing it ever again.

That said, there have been a couple of jobs I've 80'd that did become a struggle at the end. WHM and BRD in particular. I enjoyed both well enough at first but started to be a real slog later on. They just ended up getting boring and never veered back towards interesting or enjoyable for me.

It's not that relevant what I do in game, if the company is fun. Even mindlessly mining in Diadem does not bother me.
