The simple solution is to just make a healer who actually IS what people want to play lol. Most ppl I know who dont want to play healers in MMOs, want to be in armor, have a big weapon, and melee. But the moment its a Paladin, they have 0 problems healing the group. (Outside of some sort of healer anxiety) An example is in offline RPGs. Every single person who plays an RPG offline, plays a healer. They may not considered their clothed healer the main character, but they sure as heck will put them on the team and play them. So in context of a "battle healer", as long as it "feels" like a typical main character hero, and can still dish out some damage (like current healers) they wont see "healing" as something "unfun". (This excludes changes to healer DPS. Just talking about concepts)
