How are you supposed to earn something when almost nobody queues for this stuff? Frontline mounts are a complete crapshoot, most people just suicide charge the other side with no coordination so it ends as quickly as possible, and you can go for over an hour queued for the feast and not get a match.
That shows you a more fundamental problem, PvP just isn't fun. The only reason most people play this snoozefest, with barely any depth to it, in the first place is because SE puts glamour behind Wolf Marks.
For once I have to agree with MPK. The current design of XIV's pvp is supposed to be fast paced with a very limited set of abilities. Quite frankly this doesn't work, you just can't make clutch plays when everything is so utterly dependent on server ticks. I'm pretty sure anyone that healed in pvp has already experienced the great feeling of throwing instant heals on a target and it still dying because the servers took too long to register the healing.
Or trying to interrupt/stun a heal and it going through anyway because the servers took too long to register the interrupt.
Fact is those of us that didn't do it (or couldn't) won't get them by the sounds of things. I mean, I'm ok with some sort of re release or some alternative method tied to the original content but I am dead set against being able to purchase them with irl cash or in game currency. Any method to obtain these items should match the original in skill or effort so as not to devalue the original achievement. That's just my opinion and I'm fine with anyone who disagrees.
Honestly I think they should scrap the whole thing and either do a complete rethink on it and re release, or allocate those resources to other parts of the game. I'm biased as I have no real interest in PvP in general (That could change with a decent system) but I groan every time patch notes come out and I see how much time and effort is wasted (imo) on PvP when there's major glaring issues in the core game
I honestly wouldn't mind it either. I do it begrudgingly but quite frankly the pvp since the rework in Stormblood is shallow as a puddle. Due to your kit being so limited you have very little options in how you approach a fight and most of the time it boils down to "mark target and zerg it".
I am against this idea for two reasons:
1. Go that long thread "$35, really SE?". People wants the mount to be obtainable in game in which this is the case. Now you want this to be on cash shop?
2. The achievement is the only last thing to keep this dying Feast mode alive. Just play it and earn it.
1. It's (was) obtainable in game I just want to straight out but since it's no longer obtainable we should be able to purchase it with money.
2. PVP Sucks. The achievement and titles can stay though, I just want to buy the mount that's no longer obtainable in any way. :)
:)
You need to understand the difference between PvE and PvP. Did you ever play a PvP mode, did you ever play a competitive mode before?
You earn something the moment a season is running, not years after it's over. PvP never drops in difficulty, because you play against actual players and not mobs. It is a totally different concept.
Why do you try to compare the ability to unsync PvE content nowadays, with PvP? You can't unsync PvP and never will and it was way harder in the past to achieve top100. There was no dc split, more competition because the rewards were better and the battlesystem was harder; you take away that achievement from players because you want to keep playing your casual playstyle and be spoonfed with rewards?!
People could bot in frontlines, you cant bot yourself to top100. Wolfmarks are not a good resource to trash out feast rewards. Even wolfcollars would mean that a person who keeps ranking as bronze, which everybody can get in a few hours even if you are the worst player in this game, would get the most rare and one of the hardest mounts in this game.
You know what also would happen, because everyone will have the mount, nobody cares anymore about those mounts - they gonna become boring and common.
The only way it would be fair to PvP ranked players would maybe be that you are able to use the top100 voucher you get by GM to exchange any top100 reward of that expansion. But after that it is over.
PvP community also wants them since years to add more interesting stuff as wolf collar rewards to give more incentive to players and reason to play even if they dont make top100, they would still get rare items by doing that. Maybe give out different wolf collars per addon so you can get a "basic/not as special" version of one of the actual top100 reward in that season by getting collars.
If they give out those s1-s4 rewards they can give legacy tattoo and legacy chocobos too lol.
@OP: "Let us buy the Ultimate Trial weapon glams please" is just as ridiculous a request, the same with the savage raid mounts or EX trial mounts or the BLU morbol mount. they exist to reward player skill and/or dedication towards that type of content, even if you don't like it or think it's good enough to warrant it.
If you really want the pvp stuff, just play a bit of pvp every day. there are few enough players that you can still place decently, and generally afford various rewards without issue. If you want the top-100 ranker gear or whathaveyou, then you'll want to spend the time playing the mode just the same as everyone else.
What do you mean why not?
Legacy tattoo is a reward for the people who still choose to support the game when others turn their backs and call 1.0 a piece of garbage.
It is not the same
Original S1 to S4 is a reward for those who helped to shape the PvP in this game.
It is not the same.
If you have done nothing, why do you thinks you deserves them?
This is not something can be or should be obtainable through a piece of plastic credit card
lmao they must've done a very poor job at shaping PvP then and they should be revoked of all rewards. PvP currently is a complete mess.
I am doing something though I'm literally paying money for the devs to make the game better :)
Edit: People who 'shaped' pvp mustve done a really really poor job! Look at all the win trading going on and look at all the people who stop playing after week 1 of the feast!
Nah.
Let's face it, you should get good at PvP.
You had your chance of winning them when they were available. PvP rewards should always remain unobtainable, since those are ONLY for the people who played AND got between the 100 best per world. Being able to buying them for real money kills their value, since everyone will be able to obtain them without any kind of effort.
End the PvP seasons.
Remove the Rival Wings Category.
Put Astralagos and Gorge into the basic Frontline Roulete, Call them Frontlines, Just change the dialogs a bit, NO ONE CARES, make em Frontlines and just rotate the daily roulette among all Frontlines, unifying all achievements.
Increase Wolf Marks cap to 200,000.
Add every single PvP related item to diferent NPCs.
Make Wolf Collars cost 75,000 Marks.
Give back chat in PvP.
Make mounts and more exclusive ex-Seasonal rewards expensive in Wolf Collars, others just by higher amounts (up to 200,000) Wolf Marks.
Maybe keep the seasons as a "exclusivity frame" for on season rewards, and increased wolf collar + marks gain for performance. But let's say after 3 seasons those items become available on the NPCs. This already is the norm in PvE content anyway and in a largely PvE community this whole "competitive" game mode and let alone thinking of this being a E-Sport is really just making, at least i think, a lot of players say: "I don't understand this, this is bad, i know i won't even get the rewards. im out."
A lot of people is afraid ending the "competition" will kill PvP.
For something to die, it has to be alive first.
What if you took the above suggestion but instead of old ranked mounts they allowed you to trade for a new variant of those mounts say a Green Hellhound, pink Coveyer, white Drill etc, the ranked ones stay exclusive to their colour but allow others who earn wolf collars to get a version of the mount just never one of the exclusive top100 ones. All those that earned the top100 keep their exclusivity but also can get these new variants while everyone else can only get 1 ever.
Also just getting bronze is going to take 7 seasons to get 20 wolf collars that is more than an expansion worth of seasons, it will incentivise more people to at least get to Silver and Gold to get one in a single expansion.
Without rank or point decay from not participating, it is easy for win trading to happen, the current PvP ranked system is so fundamentally flawed that it has been killing itself since HW, fewer and fewer participation is happening, and they need to do something about it or finally give up.
The reason I use wolf collars is I think they should still be an incentive to do ranked PvP, having it be wolf marks defeats that purpose.
Lmao here we go; the age old ignorant excuses, In my whole time playing since S1-16 I have seen 2 accounts of Wintrading which they either got straight up banned or outcasted by the pvp community, you speak with no experience but of hear say and of a sheep mindset, same with decay it wouldn't do nothing with how feasts "highest rating" feature works.
You just want to buy your way through earning things instead of trying, gotcha. oh btw they actually added the chair mount back this season so if you want it sooooo badly that you would pay for it and crap on those who spent time ages ago to learn, compete and support the ranked season you have your chance, but you won't try it will you? you will still complain "PvP iS GaRbAgE!" than go out to get what you want, while it's avaliable.
Seasonal Exclusive pvp rewards have always been this way in multitudes of gaming, have you played any proper pvp games before? So much entitlement in some ff players its crazy!
I dont even play pvp and I think this is a pretty dumb idea some items should stay exclusive to those who did the content. Otherwise it just becomes another mount, rather than something special.
They really need to put the old feast rewards back in the game. I would love to get that PvP armor from the feast. They can even make it super expensive just to get ppl to grind the wolf marks for it and bump up the queues for a bit for the handful of ppl who actually enjoy pvp but can't get in due to long wait times.
Folks put in the time and effort to get those, if anything they can add them via an absurdity grindy achievement, 100,000 wins or something, you want it you work for it.
As Reeka said already, at least in EU wintrading isn't really a thing. And if it happened in the past it was either in top10 matches in one season and the player got banned; or it is in bronze matches because some people read from you and reddit that all PvP players are just wintrading and cheating. While we played 1000s of matches and can say otherwise.
I actually would want that PvE has something similar, World First Groups or the first 20 or 50 Groups who clear a savage or ultimate fight on a datacenter or server could get rewards and titles too. Rather than take away the exclusivity PvP has, add some to PvE too.
WoW has the same exclusive-mount system for the top rated players in PVP arenas and they are unobtainable after the season ends, just like in FFXIV.
Actually, they're even harder to obtain on WoW, since you need to be in the top 0.5% of the ladder in order to get them, which is way more difficult than getting in the top 100 of the Feast, since the PvP playerbase is so small in this game.

"real PvP like WoW" lol
I want to be able to buy Ultimate weapons with Poetics. This is word for word what you dolts are calling for when you demand Top 100 rewards for wolf marks.
I mean people are already buying ultimate weapons with cash anyways not like SE selling it for money would be that big of a difference. I do ultimate for the challenge anyways. Main difference between ultimates and top 100 rewards is that ultimates weapons are still obtainable.
Look how clean, crisp, and responsive that pvp is in that clip. He clearly got deleted cuz he did something dumb.
Now if you were playing ffxiv people will be rubber banding and stuff, people would be hitting people that aren't even there anymore and all sort of ugliness. PVP shouldn't even exist in it's current state.
It's trolling at this point....
Everyone here is just saying "You can't have it just because time gate uwu" but no one is providing a good reason why time gated items should be a thing.
No one sees a problem with this?
What harm does me buying a pvp mount for 38 dollars do? SE makes more money therefore more dev time for the game. Less intensives to trade wins which also makes pvp more competitive.
Selling rewards in the shop (or making it obtainable some how) is a plus for everyone.
