Personally, I wouldn't mind a reset (and I have almost 5 lvl 50 classes -- one of them DoH).

But it won't happen because the fallout would be catastrophic and SE needs to hold onto it's current player base.

Jinko's suggestion is really the best solution. If you want to start fresh in 2.0, make a new char in a new server. It's segregated, so everyone will be on a level playing field there.

Auto-Ragequit

I think the OP is forgetting (or just didn't play) at release. So a trip back memory lane...

When we were ALL ranks 1-20:
We all walked around in broken weathered gear because it was hard to find a craftsman to fix it/noobness meant we didn't know about repair npc.
Your first equipment upgrade into a hempen doublet would cost you on ave. 500K...which you didn't have. But since so few were made crafters could have a field day.
Level 20+characters were still running around in crap.
If you were trying to craft your own gears, mats were hard to find, because there were very few DOH's leveled high enough to get them. And those that were leveling it were again, charging a premium
EVERYONE was learning the game...so while people did help each other out, we were all Noobs. You couldn't just /l 'hey guys where do I go for quest x or find flax' and get a straight answer.

This isn't even including all the 'I know no one stuff' we dealt with...or the horrible sp system/UI etc.

What New players of 2.0 will get:
Veteran Players who know where stuff is/overfill markets with mats
Veteran Players who will help new ls mates out with gears/quests etc.
Newer players who will craft low level gear out of the low level mats we have in abundance on our markets
Newer players to exp with AND veterans who are ranking the 'new' classes (pretty sure new mage class+dow will come out around 2.0 release)
Veteran Players that can help them kill little NM's, and do quest that are very difficult/require a full party at 35, but can easily be duoed by a rank 35+50.

As others have said, if you really want to be level 1 to see the game from fresh eyes, you can always re-roll. But Yoshi P is adamant that we get to keep our characters as they are 'part' of us and represent how we spend our past 1.5 years in game. Not only that, but they are working HARDER specifically to allow us to save our characters/items/levels etc. It would have been far easier for them to say 'sorry, game is broken. come back and play when we have it fixed' and shutdown the game and servers. Once they re-wrote it, allowed us all to start over fresh. They are purposely NOT going this route.

Reset? Funny.

A reset would probably make me and many others ragequit.

That said, I am considering a second character to try the 2.0 beginner experience.

I would be in favor of SE giving us oldtimers a free 2nd slot for sticking with them :D

Horrible idea. A lot of us have worked hard to be where we are. Also Squeenix has specificity stated that this 7th umbral era stuff has a purpose and that there will be rewards for those of us who have stayed the course and such...not punishment lol. This is a derp idea

Well with any luck, there will be new classes to play so even people will all 50's will want to start at level 1 again.

While we're at it lets take all the gil from every player in the game and then split it up evenly across all active characters! That'll show those nasty people with over 1 billion gil who's boss.

resetting my character to level 1 after repeatedly stating that will not happen would be the best way to make sure me and many others i know to quit this game and not purchase another se product.

And you would not be alone, the major benefit of playing now and paying is to get ahead. It will never happen, I might be more open to it if they weren't charging... Even then Losing hours of leveling still sucks. As soon as you put a price on something you lose the freedom to push reset without a whole lot of consumer outrage.

2.0 will bring plenty of content for the lvl 50's. Plus we'll have all those new players from PS3 to help out and guide through the game. If you want to start over as a n00b, start a new character from scratch.

How about NO! how does this hurt others? The game is solo friendly (well almost) so they'll have a chance to catch up! I played FFXI at Jp launch let me tell you if SE would have wiped my wife toon at NA release she probably would have sent an unmanned Drone to SE headquarters and blew it up (We were in the Air Force)!LOL

The thing is that you dont know what it takes to level up all those classes, imagine those crafters starting at lvl 1, imagine those who played certain classes that they dont even like at all just to be useful in raid parties and for the paragons crown.

probably just going to add a new class and u can level that up

with ps3 release it would be a great idea so we would get some diversity in groups and not have a bunch of players tryign to elvel the same class. chances are they will just Power level anyways tho -.-

I feel sorry for all the suckers that have all war/magic classes at 50 and won't be able to experience the new world at the lower levels. :o

the main reason why it will never happen is well i am paying for this game.

when you payed monthly

what they should do is introduce some new jobs so even the long time players can level something from level 1 as well with the new people.

After suffering this game when it was at its worst to help keep it alive in hopes they would redeem it, I will seriously pray for SE's complete financial collapse were they to have the audacity to reset all of our ranks to make the PS3 launch players feel "even."
