But the thing is, if they said they didn't think they could add any more because it would stretch resources too thin, and then re-evaluated and concluded that they could maybe afford this one more highly requested "extra race" after all... that doesn't sound like they're open to making another exemption for yet another race that is even more unusual and non-human-shaped than the current ones. It sounds like they've stretched to their limit.

And so far they only thing they have outright said NO to, is playable Children.

True. But maybe the male viera are technically not a new race in terms of clothing. So there was no real effort to introduce them.

Right, but they never stated it Would Never Happen.
So then unless they outright said otherwise, it COULD happen, especially if they manage to both upgrade and streamline processes in the development: hopefully without compromising quality and content.

Making a seperate Sex/Gender is about the same amount of effort. Youre still building a new model, still creating unique features, animating it, and fitting gear to it.
If it were as easy as you made it sound, Male Viera would have happened alot sooner

Every race with ears and tails have clipping issues already since 2013, not to mention hair clipping that happens, specially to Hrothgar.

I wouldn't mind burmecians but wouldn't get excited for them either.

I don't expect to ever see another playable race in FFXIV after female hrothgar are added either way though.

As for Burmercian, man if they'd be added to the game I'd rip my shirt, cook it then eat it.
We have a much better chance to see the Burmecians added as a beast tribe like the Nu Mou.

One way or another, I'd love to see the Burmecians in the game, I know IX has received a lot of love and we're getting Pandemonium, a location shared between II and IX.
We already got Alexander that was a loveletter to IX aswell. But it would be neat to see them ingame.

They didnt outright say no to new races or explicitly say that there is no possibility of new races...just that its "Likely"

I never played IX myself, but Ive seen Freya alot so I have a good idea of how neat it could look in XIV, plus I just like the idea of another beast race.

I would fanta from Cat girl to Rat girl so fast. Out of any potential playable race this is the one Id' like to see the most. I'm hoping that as the years go by the race implementation problem becomes less of an issue and they start becoming more open to the idea of new playable races. Potentially having Bangaa, Burmecians, Hrothgar, and Ivalician Moogles would be great and a nice line up of playable beast races.

See the thing is they need to adjust every single piece of gear for each new body type - that's why we have only really human-looking races.
That's the reason Hrotgar and Viera can't wear most headgear - it's 'just' a single piece and not the whole set they need to adjust and it's still a HUGE undertaking.
Now imagine how much work it would be to adjust ALL the gear for a race like this (that only a small fraction of ppl would play, anyway).

Also, I'm all for no new races and expanding customization on the current ones.

That's not even that, the devs literally worked in their free time to make male Viera happen. I honestly wouldn't want that to become a thing in the future.

My understanding is that, at least, "free time" means "downtime at work" and not outside of work hours. But still it sounds like they are absolutely squeezing in what time they can to make this happen.

Maybe they really thought the split Viera/Hrothgar was the last race they could add, or maybe they wanted to hold one last slot for a future race and thought that the split race covered the things that people most wanted in the meanwhile. But now they're using that final slot (and putting in the related work) ahead of schedule to give us the other halves of the races.

The current limitations on Viera and Hrothgar also highlight why we won't get a more beast-bodied race in future. Everything would need to be massively adapted and tested for them, or quite likely they would miss out on whole chunks of glamour options because of the extra work required. Additionally they would probably look awkward in outfits designed for humans.

It's a very different situation to building specific NPCs who have a single outfit that can be designed to suit their body shape.

Granted, Burmecian's body may be a bit out of the norm, but Ivalician Moogles are so close to Lalafell, that adjusting the gear could just be as simple as putting it on them. The only real issue, like with Hroth and Viera, would be the headgear. Possibly the animation, but XII has a plethora of animations to reuse/refit. That being said, I do see Burmecian being Elezen's counter and Ivalice Moogle would be Lalafell's, just as Hrothgar is Roegadyn's.

Would love but I will go to the crowd of asking to improve the other races customization.

It hurts to say but with how Viera and Hrothgar are handled, I wouldn't imagine burmecian or other similar races to be treated...

While I see your point, it might just be a hard fact we have to live with. To some, that might be a fair compromise, while to others it is not. For me however, I would be ok with the compromise if it meant I could play as either burmecian or ivalice moogle.

Sure we have lizards, wolves, elephants, cats, swine, fish people, moogles and such....
But why not Rat People?

Qiqirn are basically most of the way there already, but I don't see this (or others people have been asking for, like Bangaa) happening because the snout would basically make it impossible for them to wear helmets, if Hrothgar (and their still mostly flat faces) are any indication. Slight tangent, but I really wish they'd pushed their current races further during the design phase that people wouldn't be able to just call them "human but with X"

I don't know why the Qiqirn keep being mentioned as if the game can only have one species of a race. The Ixal and Vanu Vanu are both bird like races. The Miqo'te and Hrothgar are two feline based races. I don't know why it seems like Qiqirn and Burmecians (Or what FFXIV's equivalent of Burmecians would be at least) both can't coexist as rodent races. And on another note, I also don't understand why every time a new playable race is suggested people hop in and mention expanding/updating current character customization options as if we don't want that or to imply that some of us aren't already on the same page. Honestly, I'd rather them improve the character creation first before considering a new playable race (if they ever) so they don't run into so many issues implementing them or at least have less issues with the process.
