Well speaking for most people here we have done this, we have made our own threads, posted the specs, and been left high and dry.

It speaks real highly of the level of support when many threads are just left without a follow up reply when we say "yeah listen the problem isn't on my end"
Up................
Really frustrating the last 3 days this started happening.
Things I've tried.
1. Reinstalling (3 times)
2. Reformatted my computer
3. Have all drivers updated.
4. Rolled back some of the graphic drivers
Messed with ie settings as I've seen some people say.
5. Disable microsoft text input.
6. Tried to fix Directx by reinstalling the June 2010 version and then reupdating it again.
7. Also tried different window builds with windows insider and normal.
I tend to play in windowed mode, and as of later, when I do: the game's window shuts down out of nowhere. No error messages, no pop-ups, even the Windows error log does not have anything new in it. The game just closes. I noticed that the crashes do not happen when the game is in Full-Screen mode. I tried a little bit with Borderless mode, and it hasn't crashed there yet. Sometimes the problem "piles up" to where if it crashes once, and I relaunch the game, it could crash again very quickly. Restarting the computer sometimes helps this a bit. Some friends advised me to update my graphics card driver, and this fixed things for a bit, but the problem came back.
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Driver Version: 445.87
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Vore Processor
RAM: 16 GB
Hard Drive: 222 GB (SSD) (FF14 is installed here, and it's around 60% full)
OS: Windows 10
OS Version: 1903
Last hard drive format: October 2019
FPS Limit:144 fps (limit frame rate when client is inactive)
Graphics Settings: High (Laptop) (guess I kept it from back when I played on a laptop)
I understand that support is a bit lacking because of Covid-19, but I hope it'd get resolved soon.
Event Viewer lists an error code: RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64
Problem signature:
P1: ffxiv_dx11.exe
P2: 1.0.0.0
P3: 10.0.18362.2.0.0
Please correct me if Im wrong, but doing some google suggests that the game is about to memory leak and the computer ends the process before it can.

Also been having this issue. Tried a new VPN WTFast and Tried uninstalling and reinstalling ffxiv.
EnigmaticDodo, that's the most technical identification I have seen yet that explains what might be going wrong. A memory leak. One of the moderators here mentioned something about FFXIV having a memory issue (except they blamed it on us, for potentially running software that helps us cheat at the game, or something).
I speak from personal experience that PRE_LEAK can be a VERY costly error!
Reading through this thread, I can see we have collectively put in more time and energy to identify and solve the issue than Square.
just out of curiousity, how old are the character's causing the crashes? Because memory leak would be a strong theory if we're all crashing on older characters. The one that's crashing me is over a year old, where newer ones work fine
Ryzen 1700X + Vega 64 here. I've had no shortage of crashes since I started playing FFXIV a couple years ago. This has persisted after recently formatting and performing a clean install of Windows 10 with minimal additional software installed, although it does feel like they're somewhat less frequent now. Updating or rolling back GPU drivers didn't have any effect for me, neither have BIOS/UEFI updates or running at stock clock speeds. I have also seen the RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 message in Event Viewer, as well as "Unknown Error Occurred" and DirectX errors, although whether there is any error dialogue at all or anything recorded to Windows logs seems very arbitrary. In the last month or two, sudden crashes to desktop with no error have been much more common. I don't see these kinds of issues in any other game.
I have started FFXIV exactly 35 days ago, I have reached a playtime of roughly 16.9 days (406hours).
I have been playing on 144 Hz monitor (Dual-Screen setup), Borderless Window, Nvidia GTX 1070 on Version 445.87 ever since 15/04/2020 (Latest Driver)
I have started to occur this issue ever since yesterday 08/05/2020. I crashed several times every now and then but it got worse and it starts crashing upon loading into a map. It became unplayable so I started to look for solutions online.
I have reviewed similar issues that happened to people in the past, from 2017 onwards to present, having the same/similar issues of DX11 error. From my understanding, there is no clear definite solution to this issue up to this day and the myth of certain solutions working for certain people. With every 'solution' I tried, the error seems to change a little, however, the most common error that I received would be:

These are the following that I have tried after looking up solutions on the internet:
0: I do not have any overlays at all, completely none.
1. Capping FPS, changing the monitor to 60 Hz
2. Fullscreen 60FPS
3. Unplugging one of my monitors, tried on both 144 Hz monitor and 60 Hz monitor separately
4. Running the game on DX9 (it returns a similar error with different numbers)
5. Reinstalled Nvidia Drivers, Update Windows to latest
6. Reinstalled FFXIV (4 times actually)
7. Underclocking (this was one of the solution on I saw on youtube)
8. Updating/Removing Realtek Audio (this was mentioned somewhere and it fixed his issue)
9. Reinstalled Nvidia Drivers back to Version 441.87 as someone mentioned in this thread
10. Changing the settings in Nvidia Control Panel (as seen in another thread)
11. Changing the settings in IE (Internet Explorer - someone mentioned about it)
12. Installing ReShaders (saw on another thread that the issue was fixed after he installed ReShaders - NOT RECOMMENDED, there are many more other threads saying that ReShaders gave them that error, I had to reinstall FFXIV the 5th time because I tried this)
I think there are a few more things I have tried but I honestly lose track of it.
The few methods that I think may work is reinstalling Windows or Flashing your BIOS, however, I have seen posts that it did not help which makes me unwilling to try it myself because it could mess up my computer if I fail to do it correctly.
I have not yet contacted support as I have seen many threads about it and they did not give a proper solution, also I have bad impressions about them the last time I contacted them regarding some other issues.
I have been searching for any sort of methods to fix this issue for the past 16 hours, I noticed that this thread is one of the most recent, if not the most recent error occurring.
If anyone has any other suggestions or anyone who had this problem and is now playable, please tell me anything you could or just a heads up if it recovered on its own. I will check back on this thread every 15 minutes.
Also is there a discord server for people who have such issues? It would be nice if everyone can gather and find a fix real-time chat.
Hi giggowhat,
I have tried many more methods such as: (still not the full list, can't remember some of it)
0: I do not have any overlays at all, completely none.
1. Capping FPS, changing the monitor to 60 Hz
2. Fullscreen 60FPS
3. Unplugging one of my monitors, tried on both 144 Hz monitor and 60 Hz monitor separately

12. Installing ReShaders (saw on another thread that the issue was fixed after he installed ReShaders - NOT RECOMMENDED, there are many more other threads saying that ReShaders gave them that error, I had to reinstall FFXIV the 5th time because I tried this)
NEW:
13. Manually changing the config file text
14. Underclocking CPU through BIOS instead of GPU
15. Completely uninstalled graphics card driver using DDU, and fresh install graphics card driver
16. Plugin monitor to Motherboard instead of graphics card
17. Tried installing on another computer, it works fine, but this doesn't conclude that it's my hardware issues since I am able to play any other games and even RAM heavy games (just like almost everyone who had the issue). So this makes me conclude that it could be a software issue, or most likely a corrupted file. (Glaring at SE)
Since I suspected that it is a corrupted file, but somehow it worked on my laptop, I decided to factory reset my computer and try installing fresh as the first and only application. I will update how it goes, (in ~10hours)
Really appreciate it if any administrators could take note of this issue that been going around for many people ever since the patch, and hopefully give us an answer. I love this game too much to let it go, I believe that is the same for a lot of people, so please do us a favor and help us minorities that couldn't play.
Playing on a completely new character. Having the same problem, though only in dx9, dx11 is not working for me at all.
I have been told that the G-sync setting on my graphics card could potentially be to blame for all my trouble. It has been set to only work on Fullscreen applications. I have now turned it off completely, and it seems like the problem does not show up anymore. I'll wait a few more days, and then I'll see what difference turning it on for both fullscreen and windowed applications will do.
Hi everyone, instead of a factory reset, I did a fresh/clean install Windows 10 and downloaded FFXIV as the first application and it worked fine.
I have tried about 20 methods before doing this re-installing windows, this should NEVER be the solution to solve any games having issues unless the PC itself is having issues.
Please refer to the above posts by me to check out the methods I have tried and did not work.
For now, I am stable in FFXIX, 2 hours in and have no crashes or errors. With everything I have done so far, I concluded that some of the "myth" or "theory" may not be true, such as dual-monitor causing the issues; 144 Hz; Overlays; etc;etc;
From my understanding of IT as an IT student, there is a few possible theory,
1. Hardware having issues but i doubt it since it worked on every game and I'm also able to play FFXIV again on the same CPU.
2. Some programs or specs may not be compatible with the game, however, this does not really explains how I am able to play at all / roll back does not fix the issue.
3. This is the most likely scenario that I believe, it would be corrupted file.
It could be a file getting corrupted with new files being downloaded or existing files, this is a very vast area making it very complicated to say for sure.
I do believe and think that this is in theory, SE/FFXIV devs fault, however I do not wish to point fingers, what matters the most is that this issue is fixed for me. Now I hope you guys are able to fix yours.
If this truly is a coding, or development, or file handling issues, I hope SE/FFXIV devs can take note of it and make it more secure and reliable for everyone else as I believe this issues has been occurring since the past 2017 in 3.0.
If you really love the game, and you are quite sure that it is not your hardware issue, you may try a fresh/clean install. I do recommend doing it if you have a little bit of knowledge in IT, otherwise it might not be a good choice as it may screw your computer and you will have no way to even use your computer. So please only try this if you know what you are doing, I would say that the steps is NOT complicated, a youtube video will teach you steps by steps on how to clean install windows. However, the dangerous part is that if something happens during the installations and you don't know what to do.
I will continue to update my status, I do hope this will help some of you out there. If it does, please give it a thumbs up so that more people can see and use this method instead of wasting time trying many weird methods that may harm the CPU.
Best of Luck fellow FFXIV friends :)
Who here is not using Nvidia color settings in the nvidia control panel? If you don't know what I am talking about, you are not using special color settings. In my case, I went into Nvidia Control Panel, under the Display category, Adjust desktop color settings.
I like to keep my gamma down at .6 but for my FF14 Windows user profile (in which FF14 is the only thing installed), I was still getting crashes. So I deslected "Use NVIDIA settings" and put it back to the default "Other applications control color settings." FF14 does not look as good (looks a bit washed out); however, the crashing stopped for me.
Again, this is on a clean Windows 10 installation, with a separate user dedicated ONLY to FF14 (I don't even use Firefox on it). In my case, I feel like maybe I isolated that single variable, because upon disabling it, I'm no longer getting crashes. This comes after more than a month of testing, reinstalling, and further testing, one variable at a time.
Thoughts/opinions? I'd like to hear someone who did what I've done, but still gets crashes despite never fiddling with "Adjust desktop color settings" in the Nvidia Control Panel.
So, I actually just had an idiot moment.
Those are not directx 11 crashes (for the most part)
They are the client generic crash messages. The client for xiv is literally named "ffxiv_dx11.exe". To let you know which version of directx it's running. When the client crashes, it throws up that error because the client with that name crashed. Not because of dx11.
That's true, and I don't believe OP should have written dx11 crashes, because they did mean general game crashing. They're just using dx11 crashes as a general term for the type of game crashing everyone is having this month.
Hi. I am a Japanese warrior of light.
Using DeepL translation.
I was able to fix the DX11 error yesterday!
https://jp.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes.../blog/4421675/
I don't think all computers can be fixed in the same way, but I hope this helps you find a solution.
In my case, the cause was the CPU.
I ran a stress test on Prime95 and disabled the core that made the error and the dx11 error was fixed.
I used to get a dx11 error after about 5 minutes on the limsa lominsa, but now I have no problem with AFK for 12+ hours!
I made a video because it may not come across correctly in translation.

We hope that as many people as possible will feel comfortable playing FFXIV.
I'll see you at Eorzea. Have a nice day!
Sucks I can't keep the game up for more than 30 sec sometimes =(
I just want to play..........
To be clear on what I'm experiencing, I receive no error message of any kind. It simply closes the game upon logging in. The problem started yesterday and has progressively gotten worse.

So I'm currently logged on to FFXIV have noticed while running 2560x1440 @ 144 Hz* my GPU consumption would spike to 99% I have since lowered the Hz* to 60 and have not crashed, my GPU consumption also more stable @ 25-30%

I get same issue, Ryzen 5 1500x first gen. RX480. Dx11, did everything everyone has listed here. No Luck.
I even did a system restore, removing everything i had, fresh drivers, whole nine yards.
It has gotten to the point where I had to actually make a forum account, and im on here to say i given up, and i just unsubscribed until Square Enix can get a clue and fix the issue.
This has wasted 3 days of my time,

Hello.
Since today, in the earlier afternoon, i have the same issue. Just a random error windows pop, and close the game. I tried reinstall FF XIV, reinstall windows, full clean instalation, DirectX9, 11, windowed mod, fullscreen, and still the error. It can occur just 5 minutes after my connection, or 10 minutes. But litteraly i can't play.

Here a typycal error window. Number change after every error.
Hello everyone!
Thank you for taking the initiative to gather similar issues into one place.
With that said, in order for our support team to better assist with each case, we’d like to ask users who are experiencing issues to create their own thread while adhering to the support template. Rest assured, the support team has continued to go through each thread while working remotely.
We will keep the thread open so that users can discuss amongst themselves (which is also the point of the Technical Support forum), please note that you will need to create your own separate thread in order for the support team to provide assistance.
We appreciate your understanding.
what do we do when our separate threads stop getting replies from mods because they can't help us any further? This thread is full of people who have their own threads and are no longer being helped once we point out this isn't a problem on our end. I understand what your roles are but at this point we would really like some actual information as to whether or not this is a memory leak or if it's something that can be patched to fix.
I think I speak for most of us when i say we would rather you guys tell us you simply don't have any answers for our shared problems rather than just stop replying to threads when the template of responses to copy/paste runs dry.
Dude this is just a suggestion of course but sometimes the best option is not to do a system restore but rather to nuke the drive entirely, do a CLEAN install of windows 10 first with the US, deleting all partitions on the OS drive as well (back up your documents first tho!) to ensure a completely clean install and clean install the OS and then the drivers.
If possible check other games just to be sure it's not a potential hardware issue as well those graphics look like artefacting as if the GPU is dying on you.
yay. Another crash, just randomly, a week or two after the previous one. During this past week, I've put in several 5+ hour long sessions, no crashes at all. Then, today...
Turned my PC on, 20 minutes later, logged onto the game. Opened my crafting menu because a friend wanted to know if I had the recipe for something, CRASH.
I wasn't even online for 30 freaking seconds.Quote:

It would help if the game give us any kind of usable data, like I don't know, a LOGFILE or something? Just saying "error" and dumping numbers that mean nothing doesn't help us.
Would like to note that other than 1 crash in Fallout4 (which is a Bethesda game, so go figure), no other game does this. I do a good bit of gaming in a week, and not one single game has crashed or error'd out on me. None. Absolutely none.
No overclocking, up to date graphics drivers, no temperature problems, everything under the sun disabled. Whatever that last ??? is, I have no stinking clue. But then it'd help if the game would actually tell me what it is.
I'm paying for the game, but his patch has been making me depressed. It's been going on for more than several weeks without Square Enix addressing the issue or even having a hotfix for the patch.
I've basically done everything other people have done already and no luck. I can't really quest or play / do stuff with friends in game right now.
This crashing is still happening. I'm playing this game through Steam. I understand that you want to do something about cheaters but regular customers that follow the rules are also getting severely punished because "The game will be unable to run when there are applications or processes, etc. that interfere with memory. There are a variety of applications in Windows, and it is difficult to suggest a specific method of solving the issue.". I did everything from resetting IE, clean install, safe boot, reinstall Windows 10 etc. Nothing worked and I have to wonder if it's some core process in Windows 10 itself that is causing the anti cheat thing to trip off. I just want to play the game.
Hi people, I am back again, with my posts stated clearly of what I have done, I managed to be able to play the game for 5 days straight without crashing, and a minimum of 14 hours online in a day.
For anyone who did not see my previous post, I have tried many many methods but the only one that worked for me is fresh/clean install windows. After that, I did not install anything other than steam (i play on a steam version) and google chrome. This is the only 2 applications I have for the past 5 days. However, I woke up today and launched my com, the game has stopped working again, I crash with the same error upon login in (crashes at "Now Loading" screen). Same error as I used to have.
I was very confused why this happened, I have no updates or installation at all, I went to check my logs, apparently windows 'force' updated Windows Security at 5:20am (I played and slept at 6am). However logically speaking, this does not make sense as it should NOT be the cause of crash. I am gonna troubleshoot this further, if there is no luck, I would fresh/clean install again to see if it works. I hope any admin or SE can help us ASAP.
Hi people,
I'm adding my testimony here. I'm crashing to Desktop with absolutely no error or warning on a regular basis. Some times it's after 2 hours of play and some time 1 second after logging in. And when I say 1 second, I mean it literally. Last Tuesday on E6S, I crashed mid fight (causing a wipe of course... again.... yay...), logged back in, saw one frame of the arena and then back to desktop. This happens everywhere: openworld questing, dungeons, raids, PvP, crafting, housing, etc.
What ever I'm doing there is this sword of Damocles above my head : will I be the wipe cause of this try? Will I lose my mats during this 80*** craft?
Oh and this since 5.1... this really "starts" to go on my nerves a lot. Actually, for the first time since I play this game, I ragequited it. More accurately, I didn't restart the game after a crash do to frustration.
I tried bunch of solution proposed here and there, nothing worked. Will try more, but I kind of lost hope.
Hi I am back with my update, honestly I dont know anymore. I have been playing games ever since I was young, played many different games from SA > LoL > D2 > OW > WoW > FFXIV.
I play usually on average 6-12 hours depending on my rl activity and I have never considered myself "addicted" to games.
Ever since playing FFXIV, I have been playing average 16 hours a day (also cause COVID lockdown), and I think I'm actually addicted to FFXIV, but having this issue happening over and over again. I no longer knows what my plan is from here on.
Back to the topic, I fresh/clean installed windows 10 again, it worked for 4 hours, crashed once and now i'm getting a (different) error, I crashes upon clicking "Play" button and the error is similar but in Japanese. I googled some solution and tried it, did not work.
I dont even know what to do anymore. 40 days of playing, and I have 473 hours in (19.7 days game time) and this is including a total of 5 days that I have not been able to touch FFXIV cause of crash.
I really dont know what to do at this point anymore, I love the game so much that I have already spent like 50 USD on mogstation items when I am still on "free 45 days" gameplay given by SE.
I am really lost..... where is my warrior of light, where is my warrior of darkness to help me out....
sorry for all the rants.... i dont know anymore... is this suffering even worth it? shld i just move to another game knowing that I given up on a game that I once enjoyed the most?
