Patch 5.25 Release Date

Yep. They usually post a notice at least 4-5 days in advance. We have not gotten a notice yet, so we're looking at another week of waiting at least.

Yea I’m rather disappointed as I also assumed this would drop this reset…The only thing I can think is the process was put on hold due to working remote because of Covid-19. It would be fantastic if the team communicated with their fans though……an overarching theme with! SE

releasing close to re3 remake and ff7 remake is bad timing in my opinion.

Considering they havent said basically ANYTHING about Save the queen, i was fully expecting them to do a live letter before it dropped to explain some of the mechanics, talk about ishguard restoration and maybe start teasing some things about 5.3 but we havent heard a single thing.

Pretty sure their planning is decided well in advance. It's always following similar cycles.
Besides, I'm not sure MMO playing is the same as solo playing, you can enjoy both at the same time because MMO does not require much time (especially relic content which can be gradually grinded).
I'm understanding that 5.25 is just a trial and the story, they said it would not be hard to make multiple weapons. I don't expect anything very grindy for now.

Yeah, from what I understand its just an introduction to the story, wont see the heavy grind till newest exploration area which isnt till 5.35. The weapons are prolly more of an incentive rather than the goal but we'll see what other stuff they'll tack on (fates and such) or if its just trial clears. As for date guessing mid April so like 13th.

There's some kind of trippy instance involved judging from the 5.2 trailer, as well as a trial.

I assume the former is just a solo duty as opposed to a field or dungeon, though.

My guess would be mid-late April. Due to this world pandemic with Coronavirus, might be a bit delayed but we should see it. Keeping my hopes up and wishing them all to stay safe.

Its what i really hate about companies and especially japanese ones, give us information. Not knowing and wating just sucks, If you wanna drag this out another month, or two, fine, but pls, tell us. Imo the relic should be among the first things of the patch but well...

The staff of FFXIV has actually been pretty good at communicating what's going on and what to expect.

7 Weeks from what I can see from the patch history of previous expansion is about what we should expect, unless the virus situation has delayed it. Major patches tend to get a lot of news, live letters, special site, etc. The info for a minor patch has it's information folded into the same site from the major patch, as well as the information regarding what is included. Literally the only thing they haven't told us yet is the date. Based off previous patches, we should be seeing it April 7

I'm guessing it's middle or late April, cos they need to release some content each month to keep players subscribed.

Typically the .x5 patches don't come out before the token weapon is widely available, which this week is that week. The earliest we would have seen the next patch would have been next week. If I were to hazard a guess I'd say two weeks from tomorrow and that's if the current IRL events haven't pushed it back.

Well there is a simple fix for that, just give Savage Weapons one more step to be on par with Relic Weapons except the Savage Weapons are allowed one more materia slot.

So the Savage Weapons can still be slightly more powerful, but not to the point of alienating the other players.

The reasoning behind my idea is this will promote players to try to fight Shiva with a bit more DPS once they get their Relic Weapon, so they don't find Shiva too overwhelming. the Relic Weapons can be seem as a Catch-up weapon to still reach for Savage Weapon with the same ilvl.

The only difference being that the Savage Weapon can be upgraded for more materia slots during the Relic Quests (so basically start making Savage Weapons be part of the Relic patches too).

Raid weapons usually are stronger, at least until the final step that finishes a relic weapon.

I think every expansion should release with the relic. That way when it gets slow, like it has been for months and is every single expansion, there'd be something to fall back on.

At this point I am expecting late April as well. COVID-19 has hit everything hard and I expect that the 6.0 expansion will be delayed 6 to 9 months.

Edit: Looks like SE is officially starting to prepare us for delays of an unspecified length.

I very much doubt the expansion will be delayed that much, it's not due out til next year and they're probably still doing a bit of work on it, just not as much, it may be out a little later than usual but I doubt it'll be 6 to 9 months late.

I can live with that. Sure it's a little disappointing to see but it's for a good cause. We're all in this together. With the housing demolitions delayed I may be taking a month or so off from the game unless I see a 5.25 announcement before the month is over. I'm just glad they are being straight forward about it. Good on them.

On side note about the relic, I'm all-in for it being the best weapon before the savage one. Something to work on, of course.

Seems the Skysteel Tools (crafter/gathering) Relic are planned for 5.25 too.

They also randomly added a render of Shiva's Savage-exclusive drachen armor form to the website.

I guess they figured most people would've seen it by now if they cared.

More interested in getting to dye the Job gear than the weapon itself, but this is a pleasant thing to look forward to.

Yeah noticed that too, but you are right. If you havent seen it by now, you are probably not raiding Savage anyways. Just wish we didnt have to wait for half a year for actual new content now.

I would not be suprised if future patches are delayed do to the ongoing pandemic. Previous update schedules are no longer a goo indicator.

If thinking that way makes you feel better about yourself, sure, go ahead I guess if you need it. It may be better to find more productive ways to build your self worth though since you'll likely crash from your inflated high horse at some point.

They did complain about the i210 Mistbreak gear, but the real complaining started with the i280 weapons the Emergency Mission could award.

I'd rather have polished, high-quality content later than rushed, sloppy content now.
