Entire parties are now leaving ocean fishing early to chase title(s)

No one? If you're queuing solo or with a light party, you need to be expected to get matched to random players with random goals that may not align to yours.

If you want a group that's going to be focused on getting the specific things you want, create a pre-made full party before you queue.

Oh, I entirely agree. But the argument for a bit has more or less pitted title chasers and mount hunters against each other for whatever reason. So realistically, both have a right to be mad at each other, or neither do, and that's basically where we're at with this topic.

Considering SE has said it's fine for people to leave early, I suspect the chance to spawn is based on the number of players still present when the spectral fish is caught.

It's something that players can always put to the test. Create 3 full parties then queue at the same time so you end up on the same boat. Have everyone leave except a single player after the instance has been active a minute. See if the player manages to get all 3 currents. If the chance to spawn is based on the number of players in the instance at start. it's unlikely for that player to get more than 1 current and more likely they won't get any at all. Repeat the test a few times to see if there's a consistent result.

Conflicting interests in the same forced instance which creates an unfriendly and toxic atmosphere in a supposed to be casual fishing voyages = bad game design. Did 3/4 new fisher titles and have seen matched people wishing us bad luck or worse during it just because our goals didn't matched

I feel like they should make it so every spectral fish that's caught has a progressively higher chance to trigger currents.

From what people have been testing the rate of triggering spectrals with a small group seems higher to a point where going on a full ship of 24 is potentially counterproductive with how the rates currently work.

There's no proof that it is only scaled based on the starting number of people. So if you want to run tests and prove your theory, please let us know. I'm going with what I've currently seen and with how SE has stated that it's OK to leave (even though the stated reason was 'if you don't care about titles or need to leave'), if they thought it would ruin other players experiences then why would 'if you don't care about titles' be a reason at all from Yoshi-P? by your logic even if those people don't care about titles or big points, it's still ruining others chances on the boat if they left and causing negative experiences that SE would have considered prior to releasing it. JP players are also doing this (I'm on Elemental Data Centre and can confirm plenty of JP players leave as well) it's clearly something that isn't just 'NA mentality'.

It's always "add a penalty" with people, isn't it? How about instead we implore SQEX to build a system who's longevity isn't based off of RNG?
Fishing (for the most part) is not fun for more than a few minutes, nor is it especially useful at end-game. So, when SQEX builds content who's only tangible gain occurs when the stars align and you get enough points to get the title or the mount, why wouldn't people team up to get the best possible set up they can?

So instead of saying "SQEX should punish everyone who doesn't enjoy wasting 30min when they may never get the reward if they're not lucky", how about we start saying "SQEX should build a more robust system that can reward continual time investment, and not something dependent on RNG".

Exactly. Players who try to pressure or intimidate or shame others into giving up their goals are actually breaking the rules. Compelling a play style isn't allowed. And this isn't some ice mage roleplay but an officially supported play style since those achievements were introduced by the developers.

Not sure if someone mentioned it already but I think the best would be if SE implements a 24 Premade Party.

With that people who seek for specific stuff like the Title can join those without hurting any others who dislike people seeing to leave early. ^^

I got screwed today because half the party I was in left halfway through the first fishing stop. I joined a PF which said mount. Nothing was said about the party leaving if things weren’t going well. As a result, we had zero chance of getting the Spectal Currents we needed, I lost valuable exp, and my scrip haul was

Players who leave like this should incur some sort of penalty, similar to if they leave a normal dungeon run. They should lose the opportunity to queue again , or even join the following fishing trip.

Groups who are focused on the specific fish achievements aren't hurting your chance for getting the mount. They've got the same chance of triggering a spectral current as any one else.

Or it was a trip that had bad RNG regardless of who stayed and who left.

When I got the mount on this character, 2 players left the party I was in when the first current didn't spawn within 4 minutes. Have no idea if other parties on the boat also lost players.

We did get currents in the next 2 zones.

How did I still end up with the mount? Because I managed to land 8 HQ and 2 NQ Executioners using Double Hook during one of the currents. That was over 3800 catch points from those 10 fish alone and I had caught 78 total fish.

Stop worrying about what other people are or aren't doing on the boat. More importantly, stop blaming them for you not getting a high score because it's not their fault. Your score is far more dependent on your RNG and what you do than what anyone else is doing.
