Yeah, it's a strange stance for people to take. There's nothing necessarily lewd about it, either. Many men simply want their character to conform to basic anatomy. We don't even have proper nipples for our characters.
I'd prefer their resources went elsewhere to be honest.
Flotation devices in the event of another Calamity of Water.
Too bad Yoko Taro isn't a permanent addition to the FF14 tem. All manner of sliders would have been yesterday's problem and he'd be already allocation resources to a fully interactive erp brothel by now.
Of course, the servers would probably be broken and combat content would be delayed by god knows how long and SE's budget would be waaaay into the red but it'd be a small price to pay.

As you can see via this image, there is no bulge. Dude might as well be a lady. He probably has it duct tape tucked in there.
very inappropriate so sad to see mentors supporting this idea
Perhaps this is the wrong thread, but as a guy, I would like to not be a hairless doll. Maybe just some light arm and chest hair textures? My girlfriend used to give me so much crap about being a big hairless baby with a majestic beard in game. Also, I always found it hilarious they never gave us actual nipples. Not that they're needed but it makes us look even more like Ken dolls. Some texture work needs done, at least in my opinion.
Enhancing waste disposal parts? I suppose it's something like cars having huge exhaust tips with 1" pipes behind them..
Some of us just want a realistic portrayal of male anatomy.
Just trying to get into the thought process... I'm going to log in and see how my character's bulge looks today, that sounds totally normal and not pervy at all right? Like those players who enjoy staring at their female avatar's breasts in Limsa Lominsa. I doubt this will ever be implemented.
You...you realise that it's a basic part of male anatomy, right? That there's not necessarily anything lewd about it?
Games such as Overwatch implement it well by having certain outfits reflect the realistic effect of a subtle bulge when a guy is wearing tight trousers or shorts. Sure, there's a portion of people who will be pushing for it to be implemented due to sex appeal but that isn't necessarily a bad thing either so long as it's handled tastefully. Personally I'd settle for something other than complete flatness.
They don't need a slider to make this happen, which is what the original poster suggested.
You only need to adjust the model of the clothing items that would show it. Things like subligars, the shi-sui set, and some of the swimwear fore example can just have some slight bulging as part of the clothing model without putting in the work to create another character creation option. I think the 2B panties prove they can do this considering how much rear enhancement those provide....
To the people who are saying this would lead to perv players sitting around have you ever searched on google images or yahoo images any game character people already do that the fact is humanity is lustfull and will do what you worried about rather there is a way or not the player will make a way if they really want to do it they will do it stop using that as a excuse to not do this or not do that. I mean kh never shows anything but I still always stare at axels lower part of the rope lol
The Hrothgar can't be that noticable with that item, right?
*One internet search later.*
Holy shit, they're packing. I'm in favor of this.
Adding it as a character customization option is a bit of an issue for two reasons:
one means that either it will never show up unless you're wearing specific items (they already do this a little bit with breast size. You can put breasts to size 0 and still get some pretty big ones with certain tops) so they might flatten you down in most men's pants. Also it would mean that they would have to adjust every item that does show it for the entire range of size, making it more work than just adding it to items that need it at a set size.
second one, though, is that if it's a character customization option means that you will be forced to pay extra to adjust that aspect of your character. Imagine if, using the breast size example, that all breasts were the same size always, then they added the ability to adjust them smaller and larger, but you had pay them to make that happen. This would not go over well.
The same can be said for items as a whole. Granted, things like tie Itinerant moogle is bringing back some items you'd have difficulty getting today still but limiting to items would immediately leave out anyone who wasn't there for the item when it was in demand.
Secondly, them limiting the way items and glamours work on certain sizes is a decision tjhey are free to make, they limited the size to fix clipping with the 2B bottoms and people were furious so I doubt people will have an issue with the "sizes being less restrictive" if it allows them to use the item in whatever manner they would like.
There is not reason to be forced to pay extra, they already know people buy fantasia by the dozen and if an update came with character customization it would make sense for them to lift some, ideally we shouldn't unless it was gender/race swapping but that is a completely different can of worms
Not sure how butt=bulge.
I'd think butt=butt and if they made gear that gave females engorged cameltoes then that would = bulge by comparison.
I'm all for increased customization in general, but I question how this would fly with the ESRB.
Having a "bulge" doesn't have to do with sexual preferences, at all. The current male character models look like weird ken dolls; no gender, and a flat behind to top it off. They look more alien than man!
I support more of a bulge, like other said the current models are too flat. Especially with some of the more revealing gear. Oh, and can some of the gear add a butt too, the 2b leggings didn't help the males nearly as much as it did the women.
They couldn't even finish the Viera and Hrothgar. They can't wear headgear. Not that I am against this but if they did focus on doing this, then don't complain about things like having one dungeon per patch.
Unfotunately i dont think that's going to happen. Simply put, its because of age restriction and censorship laws in Japan. Their censorship laws are complicated and long winded, but if they're not even willing to have visible nipples on male characters, i doubt they'd do this.
Um I'm almost postive Japan has little to no censorship laws they literaly have a celebrate with male part shaped objects , and stuff lol So I highly dout its on Japan's side on it it most likely is over senstive country usa that is worried about the censorship over Japan lol
Japan’s Annual p Festival (look it up) but ya its not on Japans side on censorship lol

If you want more in-depth character customization, you may looks at Korean MMO.
Why does Korean MMO is providing better customization?
It is only because their MMO is usually short-lived and lack of in-depth content.
The only way they can attract people for quick cash is by providing often over-sexualized character customization.
