In an Holminster run, as soon as it started, tank were not pulling wall to wall and before first boss, one dps said "oh, no, not another slow run" and bailed duty and got its 30' penalty.
Is this real? The dungeons have all been fairly easy. Hardest thing about them is getting into them with DPS queue.
Hmm I've not had these problems when getting either, I've healed, tanked and DPS'd them multiple times thus far. Maybe the OP is unlucky in this regard. I figure maybe when ShB had just come out, then yes, it's expected. But arguably, to get as far as Holminster or Dohn Mheg, you will have gotten through tougher content. Unless people skip potion, but I don't think the content should be adjusted to accommodate skip potion users, they themselves should adjust based on the fact they've skip potioned. I've done the same in other MMO's, I never jump into current content when I have, but build-up to it so I am used to it and know what I'm doing.
If you pulled the same trick on me and then look at all my SCH posts you might think "what you talkin' 'bout Willis? You don't even have it levelled, you've got AST 77 and that's your only healer". People level alts and don't necessarily attached their main to their forum profile.
Not gonna lie I hate getting those two dungeons because of the wannabe hardcore tanks in their bad gear trying to wall-to-wall pull and then failing spectacularly. Especially when so many dps seem to drop their AoE buttons on the floor and can't find them again. It's always those two dungeons....
It depends on the players. It's not boring to me because i get to play with our fellow scion friends and i know npc won't say anything if i die. I do both duty finder and trust and i really loved using trust while doing the story. And it's a good practice to know how the fights work.
So i recommend it. But it depends about the players.
To each their own with trusts, but I wouldn't go as far as recommending it, 60 mins of nonstop work to get 2 dungeon clears is a bit too much. It's basically getting a worst scenario DPS party every time you entered a dungeon where you pull most of the weight for the entire party.
Although I imagine there's a correlation between those who don't put much weight in dungeons and those who like trusts, they are already used to slow runs.
Got my BLM to 80 last week. All parties but 1 wiped during the first pull in these 2 dungeons. Such good memories.
Even with a bad party, with no wipes you are looking at about 23-25 min a run. The only time I see parties 30+ minutes are the REALLY bad ones, thankfully I don't get REALLY bad ones as much. However, if you factor in DPS queue times it is faster. Trust run is only 5-10 min longer and a DPS queue will be 10 min at best most of the time. Still, I don't do trusts either.
Not sure if you have done it recently but it has now been fixed in a recent patch if you mean the AoE's.
So you might have a better time now. I'm with you though. In general, bright things kinda hurt me so the dungeon itself is a nightmare.
At night, my eyes are extremely sensitive to light and running it at 10PM made me cry myself to sleep.

Spoiler -That said, I'm glad the game shifts from day and night after completing the MSQ in 5.0!
I can not live in a world where it was 24/7 light. Shades would be a must lol!
Doing Leveling Roulette is pain nowadays because all I get is ARR dungeons.
Just today, I got Haukke Manor while trying to get Ninja from 79 to 80, and the day before I got Sastasha.
That's what 'leveling roulette' is for -- providing enough players in lower level dungeon instances when needed. There are a lot of new players, for obvious reasons, so Sastasha through Brayflox are popular.
You could do the MSQ Roulette, as it provides a heck of a lot more XP for the low price of sitting through cut scenes. Or run through the ShB dungeon instances using trusts if you need the XP. Instant queues!
I still need to level my Trusts, but I've been using every roulette. I mainly just queue for the highest dungeon I can when able.
Their claim that they leveled 13 jobs just using Trusts and roulettes. (17 jobs less the one leveled via MSQ and the 3 they said they hadn't leveled.) Roulettes give roughly 1 level per day, so that is a lot of trust dungeon runs.
That their main under their profile picture was a level 50 at the time didn't help either. I admit I was curious too.
To get Alphinaud his HW outfit, I leveled War through trusts avoiding leveling roulettes etc. It took me two weekends and nowhere near as painful as I was led to believe. I know a lot of people think that the healers in trusts can't take big pulls and it will take forever, but that's not true. Alphinaud, can in fact, handle two packs pretty reasonably well while you aoe like a mad man. I'm sure this will work just fine with Alphinaud as the healer with Thancred and I have tested with a healer on how squishy Thancred is and he's not that bad. Two packs are possible in most cases in every dungeon and you learn what Alphinaud can and cannot handle making runs faster and more efficient.
What that means is that I was running a dungeon about 3 times per level with just doing trial and normal raids so my trusts didn't outpace me in levels. I will argue if you can do decent damage you CAN do a dungeon run under 30 mins. Which I did multiple times when I wasn't messing around and doing stuff around the house during my run. What I am saying is, its very possible to have that many classes if they grinded. Three trust runs per level is an hour and a half give or take. So to be fair let's say that's 15 hours per class. Shadowbringers has been out since end of June. If that person is truly a mad lad, they had a little over two months to pull that feat off.
So in short, no, it's not impossible without roulettes to have that many classes leveled through trusts. And if they were an early bird and were leveling their trusts before the exp needed nerf, then they most likely leveled around 4 classes to 80 during that time alone.
Who said it was impossible?
It's a give and take system. That same roulette that you call a pain now is what sent high level players to get you through lower leve content. Now its your turn to return the favor.
If you want dungeons your own level there's nothign to stop you from queuing them after all.
They're the product of the "eh...good enough, if I fits I sits. DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME AT ALL OR I'LL REPORT YOU!!!" mentality the game produces in terms of personal progression and personal play skill growth. All the more reason why the Trust system made doing dungeons bearable and fun.
Everytime I get dohn or holminister in roulette, there is always atleast one wipe -_-.
Every single time. Always at big pulls the tank does.
Mheg's second boss is a real problem with trusts. I hope they fix the line selection and trap killing because trust members can be really bad at it.
Yep, snoozeville
I dislike getting Dohn Mheg nowadays which is a shame, such a pretty dungeon. But it's the tanks, man. They come in, often without good gear and think they can mass pull without using any of their CDs.
Hate it.
I've been loving the dungeons this expansion (save Malikah's Well perhaps because it's a bit too bland for my taste and reminds me more of Copperhellbell Mines than I'd like it to), but one thing I'd wish they'd change is the first boss of Dohn Mheg with its freaking geyser mechanic. It is so obnoxious to deal with, the hitboxes of those things feel larger than what they visually suggest, and it is so difficult to find a safe spot without getting clipped and stunned by them. It's awful.
My last trip through Holminster was pretty awful. I had a healer who barely healed (seriously, they wouldn't even try it seemed like) and ran into the middle of my mob packs as if to Holy but never did, but became an expert at taking every single AoE to the face that I was avoiding. Bosses went pretty much the same way. Even taking it one pack at a time (I learned very quickly to do this in that group) I felt like my character was playing FF XIV Russian Roulette...would I die? Or would I live? Who knows!...I died an awful lot. Everyone did.
